Envy, on the other hand, has been having a considerably less great morning. Both he and Heather had gone into that gym battle expecting a challenge, but also to win.

That hadn't happened. To put it mildly.

Envy hasn't fought a gym in years, and none of those were the advanced teams. Most of his training and battling since then has been...well, mostly against the random trainers he finds on the outskirts of the city. And Heather, lately, but that's still only fighting against one person's strategies. So, putting it not so mildly? He'd gotten flattened. At least he hadn't been alone in losing, but that didn't make it much better.

So by the time they've gotten back to the Center and turned their Pokemon in to get healed up, Envy's in a less than stellar mood. Heather's stepped out to go grab some snacks for them to console themselves with, leaving him unsupervised in the Center when he spots Alphonse over by the PC counter.

This is clearly his chance to make up for earlier with a battle that he'll win. His main team might be getting healed, but he's got plenty of other good Pokemon! So he sidles right on over to where Al is standing, a confident smirk on his face that shows no hint of the loss he'd suffered just earlier.

"Finally managed to get to town, did you? I was wondering if you'd gone and gotten lost."
