Okay....because he seemed pretty happy to see us and we didn't really know him that well till after we found the laptop and the blind eye cult.
[You probably remember that entry Dipper made in the journal. McGucket saved their minds and Dipper wrote they had a new friend at the end of it.]
So maybe he's still getting his memories together from that.
