[While most people are still asleep, Lance is on the grind. Like, literally. He's standing in the bathroom of the Attack on Voltron house, clad in the Starmiebucks' uniform with the nice circular logo of a Starmie in the center of the apron, flashing a dazzlingly white smile at the camera even if it's just after dawn and most people are still asleep and the poor souls who are awake aren't even thinking about popping fingerguns at the network like he's actually doing right now, oh my god. His hair is laid and his face is moisturized to perfection, sunscreen and high quality lip balm and all. Someone's gotta make the Latias Lattes and it's gonna be him. Lance might as well look good while doing so.]

Hello, world! I'm Lance and this is my announcement that today, the best leg of Voltron, the right blue one, is gainfully employed at your local Starmiebucks. [He cups his ear, feigning deafness because he's also dramatic as well as being a moron.] Wait? What's that? What's Voltron? Oh, just a gigantic robot that's currently saving the entire universe back at home, one Galra at a time.

[Christ, who was idiot who hired this braggart fool? Fire them and him.]

Anyway, this week, we're running a half-priced special on your favorite Pokéccino and with every one purchased by a pretty face, you get a chance to win a date with me, Lance the Blue Pala-

[Enjoy that sudden high pitched shrill scream that can probably be heard for miles as the 'gear clatters to the floor and the sound of Lance scrambling along the floor is heard following it. All the camera catches is one blue tentacle slowly retreating back behind the shower curtain, leaving droplets of water in its wake.]

[Well, he's mostly just ribbing. But hey, he remembers the days when he had a massive ego, too.

Boy, those days were weird in hindsight. But he's in his twenties, now, rather than a cocky teen.]

[Totally understandable, but knowing both English and Spanish equally plus spending enough time around aliens means Lance had gained a flexible enough tongue to win over any amount of syllables thrown at him.]

No prob. If you can pour drinks, you can do a pretty good job here.

[He means, they hired him. He's never held a job in his life and nothing at Starmiebucks requires piloting experience so he's sure Yuuko would be a-okay.]

All you have to do is that and not give into the grump non-morning people.

Nope, that's cheating. The rules explicitly say that only the purchaser qualifies for the date. I mean, you could still try and buy one for him, but that means you're the lucky one with the chance.

[No, Lance, no. This girl's already laughed at you. You just know failure is ahead again. Why do you keep trying?]

No, it's more like multiple robot lions that transform into body parts and come together to form Voltron. Two legs, two arms, then the head and torso. The Blue and Yellow lions are the legs, Red and Green are the arms, and the Black Lion is the rest. We can work well separately, but we're all better together.

Good luck trying to convince him of doing that. I don't think he even sleeps!

[Well, when they aren't here, of course. Island Paradise Shiro looks much better than Castle Spaceship Shiro, but even Lance knows old habits die hard.]

He totally needs a vacation. You'd think this one would be a good enough one for him, but nope!

You really like to critique people, don't you?

[Lance isn't really feeling this. It's bad enough the opening post was him playing up the bragging so he wouldn't come off as the mediocre person he feels like most of the time, but worse now he ate the floor live and on camera. Add this guy giving him unsolicited advice that's beginning to read more like criticism and Lance is starting to feel some sort of way.]

I think I can manage both of those things well enough. [If she can deal with three six-year-olds who have stayed up to ungodly hours the night before to watch livestreams despite all the times she told them to go to bed, she can probably deal with non-morning people.]

Who says I'm not decent? Just because I find ways to ask someone out doesn't mean I'm not decent.

[Being a dick is all he knows. Well, on the outside, that is. But Lance has a good heart and means well. He's just awful at setting his ego and need to attention aside.]

Yup. Lance, always at your service.

You need me to come get you or something? Where are you anyway?

[Lance's tone turns to concern. His best bud is out there, fresh from a sleep coma, and he looks and feels rough. No way he's going to leave Hunk out there to fend for himself, Pokecenter or no.]

It just happens? And no one knows why? That's pretty messed up, man.

I'm fine, I'm fine.

[No, he isn't. His butt hurts, his hair is messed up, and his ego has a large crack in it, but hey green haired guy, how are you?] And maybe you know some of my friends if you've heard of Voltron! Shiro? Hunk? Matt?

[But not Keith. Keith is no friend right now.]

Nah, it's something called an Omanyte. To be honest, it looks like a snail mixed with an octopus. Still creepy as hell.

[Hey, Coran heard that! Enjoy those offended sounding blurbles, Lance.]

[Hey, who said he was aiming for the ladies? Maybe he was aiming for dudes too! (He's totally aiming for both. Two kinds giving him attention is better than none.)]

Still getting girls to talk to me here, so it worked. Women like it when you show a little fear.

[Laughing at him is still talking to him in Lance's mind.]

I'll let you know what they say when I go in later.

[Motherhood sounds hard. God bless Lance's mother. She must be a saint with all the patience this guy requires.]

But if you need something, you know you could always call me, right? I don't mind.

[Well she's not laughing? But there is highly amused sarcasm.]

Right, lucky. Complete stranger I've never met before in my life. Is this how you normally try to get dates? Because if it is, I suddenly feel sorry for girls I've never met before.

[Yeah, sarcasm. Luckily the robot thing is more interesting.]

Assumptions that every girl wants to date you aside. ....okay so you're not a robot but you can form a giant one out of different parts. That's neat.....I think I saw a tv show like that once. Minus the lion robots.

[It was some variation of power rangers probably.]

[Moms have to put up with a lot. She's learned that firsthand.]

I'll be sure to. And you can always get in touch if you need my help with anything, too. [She's used to being the supportive friend, after all. But it's still good to know that she can get some support in return.]

You know what they say about strangers? Strangers are friends who we just haven't met yet. [Or something like that. It's a cheesy saying and Lance is all about the cheese.] Besides, you know my name already so I'm not that much of a stranger.

[As for her question about how he normally gets dates... he'd have to actually have to have been on a date to answer that. Getting to cop a feel on the Garrison rooftop once in a while after sneaking out of the dorms doesn't constitute a date.]

A TV show? We're much more impressive than a TV show, I assure you.

[Oh, Yuuko. You just opened the door to a homesick boy who hasn't seen his own mom for months. That's creating a monster.]

Cool, cool. I'll make sure to check in with you every so often.

What, they don't have the term, stranger danger, where you're from? And also you don't know my name, so yeah, still stranger status.

[Not sarcastic with that last bit, the robot stuff sounds interesting. Even if she has to put up with cheesy lines.]

Yeah, we do, but as it turns out, you should fear the people you already know more than actual strangers.

I'm not sure, to be honest. You'd have to ask the guy who created them, but he died a long time ago. Maybe his daughter knows.

Yeah, no I'm sticking with the stranger danger bit. I trust my friends. They wouldn't be my friends if I didn't.

[It's okay, you ran into her wall of her friends are great. Even Clarissa, who she trusts to hate her half the time.]

[Tapping at his gear, he pulls up his map to see just where he's at.]

Looks like I'm in Cerulean City. You don't gotta come and get me though. I, uhm, I should be able to make it back to the Sevii Islands on my own.

[He doesn't want to bother Lance or the others with coming to get him. As much as he wants to see his friends. Traveling in this world isn't as simple as hopping into a lion or a space pod after all.]

Oh yeah, Shiro! I know him! He's a really cool guy, super well put together. Are you a... space... explorer... defender... too?

There are a ton of water types like that. Stuff that lives deep in the sea can be kinda scary. But this little guy looks nice enough!

I don't have to, I want to. I'm not going to leave you alone out there, Hunk.

[Even if Hunk can find his way home, Lance can see he's not in the best of conditions. What if he falls into another sleep coma and is left to the mercy of wild Pokemon? Lance can't let his best friend go out like that.

But he's poking through the map himself and Cerulean is farther than he though. Way father. Like in Kanto farther. It'll take days to get there even if he flew part of the way. The sound he makes sounds like one of defeat and consideration.]

That's pretty far from here... I guess I could ask Shiro what we should do.

[Hunk knows all too well how far away he is. That had been part of the point of his journey away from the islands. To see how far he could make it on his own. He's definitely disappointed he didn't get nearly as far as he had originally planned.

Stupid sleep coma thing.]

Well, maybe we could meet in Vermillion city? There's a ferry there that goes between the mainland and the islands I think. It costs money, but I can pay you back! I... I'd really like to see you dude.
