Well it's a bit more complicated then that. The pre-war robots. They generally stick to their programming but you'll come across a few like KL-E-0, she runs a weapons store in a place called Goodneighbour. There's a group of them that found a ship and took over that and are trying to make it...seaworthy again. Curie wanted to be able to focus on medicine so we managed to transfer her programming into an empty synth body when she expressed an interest in it. Then there's Codsworth who stays because he wants to and considers himself family, and he's right.

[Codsworth is 100% family and she will fight anyone who says a Mister Handy cannot be actual family. She knows her late husband would too.]

Synths....well they're not supposed to have any say in what they are but well....they've developed more individual personalities as a whole and sometimes they escape. And considering there was a rebellion a little while before I came here. Where they, with some help from an outside group, turned against the people who made and enslaved them, I think they're going to have a lot more choice in what they want to do in the future from now on.

[Which is clearly good in her mind but then again she's dealt with the Institute and knows how utterly terrible they were.]

Yeah, and it's good to get another perspective on things. Super mutants might want to kill things all the time. However finding out how they act when it's just them was interesting
