Venkman settles back in his chair, processing... all of that. Ok, look, he could tell the kid had some issues, but those are some fucking big issues. And the term facehugger- the name Ripley-

Nah, that part's gotta be coincidental.]

That's not easy shit to deal with. And you're right- even if you did know how to read people at the time, you might not've caught on. People like that can be good at manipulating the situation, know how to hide their tells and really sound sincere when they're lying through their teeth...

[Another pause. Venkman's... not the best with kids. Of course, he's better at it than Egon- by far. And he's pretty good at making kids like him. But the emotional stuff- that's where he falls apart. He got on pretty well with Shannon, yeah, but that whole situation was an anomaly. Venkman's not sure he can really say much else without accidentally making shit worse. He tries anyway.]

You know, I'm pretty good about reading people, but I still get tricked sometimes. There was a call we got a while back about a haunted house, from some sweet old lady- Mrs. Rogers. Turned out her house was basically a portal to the underworld, created by a demon named Wat. Also turned out that Mrs. Rogers was Wat in disguise. It fooled all of us into walking into a trap, we let it walk in our base unaccompanied, and then it possessed me and nearly made me ruin everything.

People make mistakes. It's not your fault for not realizing he could've been a threat, just like it wasn't ours for not catching on to Wat sooner. All you can do is learn from it.

Also- lotta companies are corrupt, anyway. No real loss there.

[He's helping.]
