I know people have been talking about the monsters from the portals acting friendlier this time around. Or not fighting them and then they'll leave?

Well, I ended up in a few fights with one when I was out walking and training. I kept beating it in battles and now I think it's following me.

Look, it's still out there. It'll probably attack if I go out.

[She'll turn the camera to show outside off in the distance. Yup it's a Buzzwole. Of course Maya would manage to get a Buzzwole to follow her around. She'll flip the camera back to her. She doesn't seem that worried, oddly enough.]

Anyone else have something like this happen? Or advice? I mean, I'll keep fighting it when it attacks, but somehow I don't think that's going to drive it off. Maybe a trap of some sort.

Oh, just people disguised as monsters. We haven't caught any actual monsters before.

[Give it time, kid.]

But we've dealt with people disguised as androids, manticores, squid-faced demons, gnomes, gator people, ghosts...

Why are there so many people dressing up as monsters?

Oh, it's just sort of a thing where I come from, at least in Crystal Cove. Disguising as a giant piranha goat is a great strategy for robbing a place if most of the town will assume you're a real piranha goat and not want to fight back against a monster that can both bite and kick them to death.

Especially if they can make money off the tourism for people wanting to catch a glimpse of the famed piranha goat thief.

That sounds like one of the strangest scams I've ever heard of.

Is tourist money really worth that much to not go after someone robbing them?

If the entire town's economy runs on tourist's money? Apparently so!

I think the town needs to find a more sustainable business model.

Believe me, I feel the same way, but they don't normally put 17-year-olds in charge of fixing the financial stability of the town.

I'd put a seven year old in charge if it meant they didn't rely on a tourist trade that robs them all the time. But I see what you mean.

What planet is this on?

You know, there was one kid who tried to get- to get the mayor to let her join the city council and fix the town up, but she got rejected 'cause she was too young. So instead she came up with this whole scheme to make it look like all the kids in town were getting turned into monsters so all their parents would abandon them and turn Crystal Cove into a kid-run utopia.

[A beat.]

Earth! Why do you ask?

Just double checking there wasn't a really strange world I'd missed in my galaxy.

There seem to be a lot of people from versions of Earth here.
