"Ah, you got yourself a bleeding heart do-gooder, huh?" Jack knows those types. Hell, his first wife had been that type. In a weird way, he can relate to this. Not that he'd been a member of organized crime in those days, but... he's always known what's inside of him, even if he tramped it down and fought against it in his younger years.

Liking someone or even loving them doesn't obligate you to do anything. No human being actually owes another anything just because. That's stupid. And also shitty, don't do something for somebody because you feel like you have to. You've got your own shit going on right now, you gotta look after you. Plus you're his girlfriend, not his mommy. It's not your job to look after your boyfriend. And if the idea of talking to him or being with him right now is freaking ya out to the point you don't even call him...I mean shit, champ, at the very least you sound like you could use an official break. You're young, you gotta find yourself and figure yourself out before you get all tangled up in somebody else's life."

Or just spend decades repressing yourself and trying to be someone you really aren't until it all goes to hell.
