maybe it's just the fact he had only been there a handful of months, but he couldn't fathom not wanting to go home. but, then again, what did he have to go back to? other than going to italy for important business, he wasn't aware of any happy promises waiting for him. what was the point? maybe it wasn't unfathomable after all, especially after years of being here.
