"Oh big-time! But a tornado can lift plenty too right? I'm thinking...that's probably what the turbines are for- they're pulling in piles and piles of air right? and that brings more air with it, which goes up under the wings, and...."

"...Hoooh! I think I just talked myself into the answer~"

"I-if you are sure."

That might actually be the true answer, but at the same time, Carly essentially free-associating it together after admitting she doesn't know how it works does make Armin feel a little unsure of whether or not to trust her line of reasoning. Could be sound. Could be complete bullshit. We shall never know.

Well, until Armin lands and manages to get his skinny ass to a library to look up the mechanics of flight. Then we shall know.

"Are you looking forward to seeing Sinnoh?"

Maybe it is best to move onto a more accessible topic.

Well, given the grin on her face, she sure Seems sure. Mostly.

"I am~! Jolyne's having a whole family reunion there even- her dad showed up, and a friend of hers...and then there's her great...uh. Great, great, great grandparents?" She squints, counting on her fingers. "...Something like that...and their cousin... ...A few extras? I don't know everyone at all but it's nice enough I think~! Do you have any plans already?"

Armin has several plans, but first--

"She really has that many family members here?" Who is Jolyne? He doesn't quite recall, but that is not that important. "It's really unusual for so many related people to show up here. I have noticed that when people from the same world come here, they do usually have some... relation. But one particular family showing up here is unusual."

"Ah, but lucky for your friend, I guess."

"Apparently..! Not everyone there will be related, but most of them are! Heck of a family tree..."

She grins. "It sure is~! And right on time! We just finished getting through the Elite Four when her dad appeared here!~"

"Oh, that's right. The two of you became champions too. I don't think I ever had a chance to congratulate you yet." Welcome to the club, Carly. Armin is still trying to remember exactly who Jolyne is. For some reason his mind supplies 'loud', but not much beyond that. "Are you planning on opening a gym?"

"Well, if you plan on it, you might want to wait until we land and re-meet then," she laughs. "I don't think Jolyne would stand it otherwise~" Them having won right after each other and all.

Carly hums, leaning in her seat. "...You know...I think we might? The problem is where, you know? We just finished moving the houseboat near whirlpool- it seemed a good spot to go, at least when it comes to somewhere the magikarp can be protected..."

It is far from the environment doing protection, but hey, surely the big psychic sea god will have a soft spot for weird fish. "Anyway, we'd probably want something close to home in both cases, but where are we going to put TWO GYMS between two primary league gyms!?"

"That does sound complicated. It's not like you can easily move it afterwards. The location really needs to be perfect."

Of course, it is this sort of thinking that had led Armin to hemming and hawing for ages over a location for his own gym. He just kept going back and forward on the decision, finding little things that could potentially turn into problems.

"Honestly, it took me a year to even really think about opening my own. It's such a huge responsibility."

"Mmmhmm. Even if it was somehow mobile, we'd still be on a pretty small stretch of water..."

She hums a bit herself, before blinking in surprise. "Eh- a whole year, really? ...oh right you have those Lapras to deal with though too huh...I guess it's a whole other story if you're already busy with some sort of work..."

"Well, even without the Lapras, I'm not sure I would've immediately opened a gym anyway. It's a lot of responsibility." And Armin is always the sort to second and third guess himself. "But I guess, in the end, it's also because of those Lapras that I am opening a gym now."

"Yeah? How so?"

Simply question, sure- but she's kind of curious.

"Ah, I didn't... really talk about this on the Network, but a few months ago, Team Rocket attempted to steal my Lapras herd. Or rather, they managed to but we managed to recover them before anything bad could happen to them." From his frown, it's clearly an experience that affected Armin quite badly. "It made me try and think of better ways to protect them. And one of them was building a gym. I mean, that's definitely not the only reason I went ahead with it, but it is what first put the idea in my mind."

For someone entirely guilty of theft, Carly does a phenomenal job of not showing it. Instead she nods, and nods slowly. "Mnhhh...I see...I did hear about that," she adds, frowning. "I haven't seen much of how the gym budget works, but you could probably really beef up whatever security there is with it at least..."

She did? Armin doesn't remember talking about it on the network, but then again, he had definitely spoken to a few people about it. And he hadn't exactly told them this was a secret or anything. So he supposes she could've heard about it somehow.

Either way.

"That's what I hope. Or, at the very least, having some other people there to help out. I've always wanted to keep their contact with humans as minimal as I can, but I also don't ever want them to go through something like that ever again."

Ah, she messed up after all,

Frankly Armin you should broadcast your worries more. Well whatever, she'll bluff it worst case.

"Mnnh, right! Part of the idea of a sanctuary is to keep it from becoming entertainment, or something that isn't about the animals...or, uh. Pokemon. But if you set it up right, that shouldn't be a problem either right..?" Should...hopefully still manage minimal contact...
