Of course, the officer doesn't know they're hitting Thace's buttons - and Shinobu may not be a spy, but he absolutely does know the tiny signs of a well-faked expression; he'd spent more than enough time perfecting his own mask (hah) in order to keep his Keepers happy - and Thace's trauma is predisposing him to not trust the officer (which Shinobu can also understand, honestly). Not that knowing that makes this any less awkward, if 'awkward' is even a sufficient word.

As Thace walks away, Shinobu wonders if he'd heard the officer's warning. If he had, it had probably sounded more like a threat. And then Thace is gone and the officer is staring at him, looking more than a little frustrated. Shinobu wonders if he's going to get a talking-to now, but the officer just sighs again. "Look, I don't..." Another sigh. "I know I'm talking out of turn, but somebody really needs to talk to that guy." Another sigh, and then a headshake, and then the officer is moving away with a final "Have a safe trip, sir." And then it's Shinobu's turn to sigh.

And then sigh again when he gets Thace's text. Yes.
