My condolences, I would ordinarily hope that the death was a peaceful one, but considering your concerns about the blood that was once fresh, I would say all evidence points to "no". A pity, really. Fortunately for you, however, death means little here, as you can see by the fact you need not worry about the onset of rigor mortis.

As for the blood itself, might I suggest soaking it in cold water with a touch of salt. This will make your scrubbing of the stain far more fruitful of an endeavor. The use of the soap is optional, but it certainly would not hurt.
