I think that's everyone from while I've been around. And badges are sort of like little tokens of proof of your strength here! Or, well, the strength of your Pokemon, and how well you work with them. Generally the more badges you have, the more areas become accessible to you, and the more likely it is that natives here will take you seriously. And if you obtain all sixteen available, you can challenge the strongest trainers in the area, the Elite Four! And if you beat THEM, then there's a whole to-do with joining another league, just for us, and you can make your own gym, it's all a big deal. I've got my heart set on a personal endeavor, and I figured that getting off my behind and earning badges and getting the notoriety might help me legitimize my plans.
