Of course, this is a loaded statement, even if true. Dirk has many selves, but outside of them, despite how varied, he isn't exactly apt at playing anyone else.
"But forgive me, Mistress Akane, but I could ill afford speaking with you in such audience, and an experienced actor does not break character even in the most dire of circumstances. If I could not convince you of my deception, what hope would I have for others, hm?"
