Video (2/14) - A Valentines' Night on Staryutube

[While everyone may or may not by celebrating the festivities, a video would come up if you were hanging around Staryutube. Maybe this came up on your Recommended Videos, who knew. Whatever the case, perhaps you were watching this.

Zuke had set up a Staryutube Channel, yes. His very first one.

Clicking on the video there would be a grown man sitting on a stool with a drum set in front of him. His travel one to be precise. The setting was in a rather cozy looking hotel room.

The man seemed to struggle with words at first, looking like he was fumbling a bit nervously. A few chirps later from the crowd to get him to talk and-]

Yeah! Um, hey there. I'm Zuke and...I've been here for a few months and, well...I figured maybe I should set one of these things up. Welcome to my channel, I-

-I play drums.

[A cry from a monkey was heard.]

Right! Okay!

So, uh, I occasionally write songs too. Well, lyrics, anyway.

I know today is a big day for a lot of people so, uh...to start off this channel, I wrote one little thing. I hope you like it.

[He took a deep breath, lifted his drumsticks and played a soft, humble tune on them. The beats were solemn and soft, which matched the look on his face.]

When I woke up this mornin'

I got to see your face

And I

Kept on walkin' in my slow slow pace

And I thought

I never wanted to see anything more right now

Snap a picture and keep this forever

This feeling

It certainly wasn't the weather

But it hurts that all I can do is

[The song went mostly light this. In the background, there was silence. Soon, the song would be over, and the screen would fade to black. First video over.]

[Also, on this day, Grant, Kirishima, Claude, Dimitri, Felix, Jynx, Chip, and Jaskier got a small bag via carrier Pidgey. Inside was a bunch of handmade chocolate, filled with a soft fruit jelly. The jelly flavors are strawberry, raspberry, cherry, blackberry, and blueberry. Happy Valentines'!!]

[Dimitri has a lot planned for today, what with taking Grant out to see the markets, and later on going with Claude to a woodworking class. However, that will be in the day. For now, Dimitri is mostly getting prepared for all of that...]

[But he does take a moment's pause when he sees a familiar face on the network, and settles down to listen to his music.]

[He definitely leaves a Starytube comment, once he gets Gremlin to help make sure he does it properly.]

This is a beautiful and soft song, tinged with bittersweet. As usual, the artist manages to convey no small amount of emotional depth into his song.

[And he clicks the thumbs up, because Gremlin seems to think that is important, for whatever reason.]

[ And the chocolates absolutely delight her to no end. She feels bad that she didn't even consider doing anything for the adults in her life... looks like she'll be taking matters into her own hands then, if a bit late. ]

[Dimitri's comment gets liked by the video creator. After a bit of fumbles, the creator finally responds.]

[Claude isn't much for Staryutube, or at least not randomly browsing it. But when people in his travel group inform him Zuke's got a song up there, Claude definitely feels like he needs to hear it, and promptly tracks it down. And how could he not leave a comment once he's heard it?]

I should send you something myself, but it may take a little bit of time. I have been working two jobs since we have arrived in Ecruteak in order to save up for something, and then we have all gotten rather caught up in this holiday. Our day has been so full!

Good lord, Dimitri. Take your time. I get it, you should take your day doing what you gotta do. Especially since I know you gotta celebrate, if you get me.

I hope you can celebrate a little bit today. Still probably not that big party or festival but, eh, something?

I am not used to a holiday like this. It has certainly been a learning experience.

Trust me, I know the holiday and I never know how to stick with one tradition.

But you got someone there to make your first one special, I hope it means something good for you.

tbh i didn't even think of doing anything for anybody. i'll have to fix that. but its a surprise!

[Felix has spent plenty of time on Staryutube, mostly for cat videos and recorded live performances. So when Zuke's channel pops up as recommended, he subscribes immediately, and then listens to the song.

Oh.

When it's over, he clicks repeat to listen to it again. But it hurts that all I can do is ask for us to stay like this for a bit...

Yes, it does. But if Zuke was writing this song in an attempt to remind people how important their loved ones are, well, it did its job.

He leaves a comment on the video:]

I hope so as well. I have had to make some adjustments, as my plans have had to span multiple days, so I hope everyone is satisfied.

[When people get the message of his song, it makes his day. Honestly.

Zuke wrote songs and lyrics when he felt a certain way. The concept of love and lost was something he felt for a while, deep in the recesses of his soul.

He wasn’t depressed, but there was a bittersweetness of moving on from love lost. Mainly because that entailed appreciating what you DID have. Better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.]

That means a lot Felix, thank you. Really.

It just depends on the filling really. Jelly is only so smooth before it’s workable with the stuff.

But berries and stuff are so plentiful here so honestly I just picked what would hold and stay.

tbh im wondering if no longer having to keep an eye on a bunch of rambunctious assholes while cooking will also help. do you know how hard it is to get anything done when the 7 year old has once again turned the television into a defense turret.

Zuke had to read that a few times before deciding what to say. War meant something else other than "sleep" but he heard that those who temporarily leave to go home...sleep a long time. He heard a few people do that over the network.

So someone in Felix and Dimitri's circle was temporarily gone.

Someone important to them.

Talking to him is comfortable, somehow. And Felix figures he deserves to know the kind of impact his music has. So it's not so bad, he supposes.]

[He meant it sincerely. Zuke was a kind of person that hated throwing words that meant nothing around. He was a more introvert sort, but he was calm and rational when it comes to explaining himself. As something made so much sense as the feelings from his music.

And he knew when it was wrong to press. It would be bad to push Felix into expressing more than he was capable of.

He's not fine. But he's also...not fine with discussing it an a particular way.]

I'll be sure to keep playing and playing, and posting. It's what I love doing. If it happens to bring comfort than that's the bonus to work for.

I would've always played music. It's what I'm passionate doing. But I don't think anyone's said my music has helped anyone.
