[It could have all been a dream, given the way Izuku wakes up in a bed that isn't his own. It could also very well be the hospital- a fact that wouldn't have been surprising- but the stark lack of a sterile atmosphere leads him to believe otherwise even as he sits up with a start. His heart is hammering in his chest and between his ears with such ferocity that believing this is anything but reality would be difficult...
He isn't afforded much time to collect himself, because someone has noticed he's awake and immediately lept up onto his chest to greet him, his fluffy tail wagging excitedly.
Okay, maybe this is a dream after all.
Everything happens pretty quickly after that. Your usual fair of arrival: Izuku's "mom" comes in the room upon hearing his Eevee chirp at him, ushering him up-and-at'em even as he's stammering questions and trying (and failing) to get her to give him a straight answer. She is in fact not even remotely his mother but she doesn't seem to know that or care, and before he's able to get a word in edgewise he's out the door with a bag over his shoulders. Eevee had taken advantage of the chaos to climb up Izuku's back, sitting pretty on his shoulder as if he belongs there. So what does Izuku do? Well...
He starts to walk, hoping he'll be able to come into a town and maybe someplace more familiar than the route ahead of him. ...only for a Pineco to drop from a tree and attack both him and his Eevee pretty much immediately. It's a pretty sudden and surprising introduction to Pokemon battling before he's even finished reading up on it, leaving him to find a tree to sit down under for a while before anything else can happen. He has the PokeGear, so let's just try to contact someone. Anyone.]
Hello? I don't know if anyone can hear me on this, but it's worth a try...
[He pauses as Eevee pushes his head into the screen's view, hello he's here too.]
My name is Midoriya Izuku. I'm not sure what's happened, but I'm really not where I'm supposed to be right now. My only guess is this all is due to the effects of a Quirk, but I don't remember anything that could have lead to that.
[Unless Shigaraki had some tricks up his sleeve he really wasn't prepared for. Doesn't explain how his injuries have ceased to exist, either.]
I've been reading the guidebook, but it's really just giving me more questions than answers. Not only that, the pet the lady had in her house where I woke up followed me outside and I can't get it to go back home to her. She won't answer the door now so I'm not really sure what to do about that.

[Izuku's Eevee perks up upon hearing that he's being talked about, his ears twitching with a happy flick of his tail. More than one person has called this little guy an "Eevee", so he has no choice but to believe that. The rest though...]
Who...is she, exactly?

T-that...is one way to put it, I guess.
[That's kindof scary to think about. How long has she been there for? Does anyone know? Is that her sole purpose in life...??]
I don't understand why there isn't anywhere to stay in the town itself, though. Other people live there, don't they?
no subject
They do, they just aren't...exactly open to random strangers staying in their homes. You're much better off bunking at a Pokemon Center whenever you find one, they let people stay for free - but the Inns allow for some privacy.

A Pokemon Center...that's like a hospital for Pokemon, right?
no subject
That's right! The nurses there are very kind. And if you can work part time at one, even if it's just helping to manage the front desk? They pay well, too.
[Just so you know that you don't have to repeatedly take Little Timmy's lunch money when you beat his Weedle. There's options.]
no subject
Oh, that's good to know. I haven't had a part time job before really, not counting internships for school...mostly because I've just been too busy.
[Because he's been doing unpaid internships for school.]
no subject
Oh, internships? Then you should be well prepared for work stuff! It really isn't hard or scary at all - I've never gotten to have a job before, but everyone is willing to teach you how things work. And that's not just for jobs, either - it seems like you've gotten the hang of it so far, but this network? It's accessible all the time, and you can always ask questions and people like us are likely to get back to you fairly quickly. Starting out is always a bit rough, but once you get through to Cherrygrove and can stock up a bit more on supplies it isn't too bad.
no subject
That's good to hear, at least. The only thing I'm really worried about right now is the cold...I think I should be able to handle myself on the routes just fine otherwise, even if something tries to attack us.
[He's more used to defending himself physically of course, but he won't stop his Eevee from battling if that's what it knows how to do.]

Izuku giggles at that in spite of himself, reaching up to scritch between his ears.]
That's good to hear. It's not like I'm not used to cold weather since it can get really chilly in Japan, especially around this time of year...but it is a little awkward not being prepared for it.
no subject
[Primary concern is not to get sick or seriously injured, but like, unless people really want to play that out for some reason? It never happens. Which, thank goodness.]
The good news is that once you get to Cherrygrove City, the PokeMart there should have all the basics you need. It won't be fancy stuff, but it'll be perfectly servicable.

[But he's also from fucking Japan, so.]

So people depend on Pokemon for a lot, here...they seem to be a lot more closely involved with humans than I realized.
