He's still a spider. Claude. My...Espurr is small. Of course he's going to be afraid of Skittles.

He's a spider who's always on his best behavior, though. Isn't that right, Skittles? [Claude is clearly deeply affectionate with this Joltik.

Also, would you believe 'Skittles' is a chess term? And that all of Claude's pokémon are named after chess terms and plays?

Claude climbs off of Skittles' back with a pat.] But I guess if there's no reassuring your little guy, I could put him away. Still...c'mon, Teach, even if your Espurr doesn't have faith in Skittles, you've got faith in me, right? I'd never just let one of mine mess with one of yours.

[....Claude, aren't you the guy who had stomach poison in school? He taught Blue Lions, but he remembers hearing about that nonsense.]

It might be best to put him away for now, Claude. However you do that.

No sooner said than done! Time for a break little - big guy. [And Claude holds up Skittles' pokéball. In a flash of red light, Skittles - who had started waving his front legs excitedly at being called 'big guy'; seriously, best day ever - disappears into the ball. Which Claude promptly puts back on his belt.]

So! With that dealt with - how're you doing, Teach? You want to introduce me to your new buddy? He has your eyes.

[Claude's only half-joking. There's just something about that stare...Felix's Espurr has its name for a reason.]

[The Espurr finally starts to calm down once the big scary spider is out of sight.]

I'm fine, mostly. Disoriented, but that's to be expected after waking up in a pond.

[A beat.]

My eyes?

You woke up in a pond? Ouch! Arriving in a new world is rough enough without getting dunked on top of it.

[Claude considers answering about the eyes, decides there's no actual smooth way to say "it's something about the blank, dead thousand-yard stare", and pretends he didn't hear the question at all.]
