Who: Dirk Strider & Emet-Selch
Where: Emet's lab
When: Early morning 2/13
Summary: Emet is awake from his canon update. He almost wishes he wasn't.
Rating: pg-13 because of Dirk's existence
Log:

This is not what he expected upon returning to the Lifestream, that much is certain. Yet, he's left feeling a mix of emotions instead of undeterred irritation. Part of him longs for the rest he was finally bequeathed, especially after so many millennia bearing the burden he was forced to endure. He played his part—to perfection—paved the way for those little wisps of aether to accomplish what he and his might not have been able. Though, the mortals likewise would have been just as useless had it not been for the legacy he and his had left them, but that is neither here nor there...

What is here, however, is himself and what seems to be Dirk looming over him.

The conflict of emotions becomes a bit less so with his presence. Though, that reprieve only lasts for a moment or two when he realizes where they are, and what his absence might have caused. Hythlodaeus isn't here with Dirk—can't be—and the very fact he's here...

The changes to him isn't only his memories, as is made obvious to him once he realizes how tightly his clothes are upon his body. Though the other physical change is a touch more obvious to an onlooker, considering the change is to his eyes. Which Dirk has full view of, what with how Emet's looking up at him a touch owlishly while he's left mentally calibrating himself into this reality and all that might come with it. Not that this takes long, mind, and before long he's offering Dirk a reassuring smile and a hand to softly cup his cheek.

"You will simply have to forgive the absence, my boy." He says with the voice of man who has certainly slept for a week. "I do so hope it was none too onerous of a wait for you."

Dirk looks, well, rough would be a charitable way to describe him, and it does little to assuage the worry he feels. Odd to feel such worry when he had just been met with freeing relief after so very long. He supposes that even if one duty ends, another shall take it's place, even for half-faded souls of the dead.

Perhaps he doesn't mind this as much as he might have thought otherwise.
