vrdantwind: (I'll show you this side of the world)

I don't think it'd have caused problems...not among the Deer or the Lions, at least. With what Edelgard was planning...mm. She might've tried to angle to get that power on her side somehow, so that might've been a little concerning. There's a lot of people I wouldn't trust with power over time, or even with the knowledge that you had that power. But I think telling most of us wouldn't have been an issue. It would've been a lot to process, but that's just the nature of news that big and wild - and that's not really causing problems, per se. Just shock.

[At Byleth's justifications of how he used his power over time...Claude just ends up bursting out laughing. He actually steps in and hugs Byleth - both because he's unbearably fond of him in this moment, hearing something that ridiculous to cap off these huge revelations, and because he hears something else behind the silliness. Specifically, he hears that almost plaintive undercurrent to those words - I couldn't save everyone, but I did my best. He hears the weight of them. And as an expert deflector himself, he thinks that thing about the toe-stubbing is...almost certainly true, but also purposeful redirection from something so serious, so painful, that it has to be carefully defanged, kept at arm's length. A lightening of the tone before the heaviness could crush Byleth beneath it.

And even if Byleth wasn't consciously doing that...the thought of Byleth trying so hard to save everyone and not being able to, of bearing the weight of that, almost demands that Claude hug him anyway. There's no way Byleth doesn't need it.]

Oh, Teach. Never change. [Claude's voice is warm.] Anyway, relax. I don't think anyone could've done a better job than you did.

I also think you're right. If you're gonna tell some of us, you might as well tell all of us. It can't hurt to have everyone on the same page...and appreciating just how much you've been doing for us behind the scenes.
