victory_road | 4th Recipe [Violet City, Video]

[The feed opens up on Jane's back as she bustles around the kitchen in the Violet City Inn - judging by how the camera isn't perfectly steady and the happy chatter of Pokemon nearby, someone else is filming. The video takes a turn - Dinah the Audino and Bettina the Golbat are fussing over a container of cinnamon, Dinah being the only one with hands to pour it over bowls of what looks to be rice pudding. Seems like Jane made them a treat, but she's still working?]

- August?

[The video shifts again to show Jane, the oven open behind her and holding a tray of...are those raisins? Come to think of it, there's a whole LOT of grapes left on the counter. Looks like someone got paid for her help in way too much food to eat before it goes bad.]

I didn't know you could work the 'gear! Have you been learning by watching me?

[Jane chuckles, coming closer to put the tray on the table. Geez, that's a lot of raisins.] Goodness, I tell you I want to show you off and you get right ahead of me! Hold on, give me that so we can let everyone see you.

[August hands the 'gear over, and there's a blur before there's a clear view of Jane's team enjoying their special treat - and it's clear that August has become a very handsome shiny Delphox. He grins and ducks his head, shy, while the other Pokemon spot the 'gear and wave.]

I hope this isn't too much like tooting my own horn, but I do believe I have quite a good-looking team! And August has gained a secondary typing - he's Fire and Psychic now! [Jane sounds so excited by this.] I can't wait until we can actually converse, you know? But, erm, he does...need a little practice with his new powers. August, do you want to try something?

[The Delphox nods, removing a stick from his sleeve-fur. There's a subtle glow as he closes his eyes, and at first that glow surrounds the raisins, and they do begin to float...but when the glow disperses, they shoot out everywhere, and Jane and her Pokemon duck and cry out. The feed switches over to Jane's somewhat exasperated face.]

Ah! O-Okay, um, well, as you can see, he's...really not good at maintaining control yet. At least this time it wasn't anything that could hurt someone...but, I'm assuming practice is going to make perfect?

I'll get a broom, then you can tell me what you meant by this time. [She only gone a moment, but as soon as she leaves Locasta starts batting the raisins around before deciding to eat one. Roxy returns to see her spit it out...which isn't surprising seeing as she had the exact same reaction to about 90% of food. Roxy sighs before throwing it in the trash.]

Do we throw them away? [It seems like a waste, but then again it's not like she has to ration anymore.]

[Jane's already down on her knees picking them up one by one, and so are the more helpful Pokemon - Dinah and August, namely. She looks up at Roxy's question]

Unfortunately. Ugh, and I worked so hard on these, too...

[Waste sucks, both in food ways and in time ways.]

[Roxy offers the dustpan to Jane, then begins to sweep all the raisins up. She has to shoo Locasta away, who instead approaches Bettina. Will there be a fight if she tries this cinnamon thing?]

I'll help you make more. If you want. [Something that could only end well, I'm sure.]

[Naaaah, Bettina is as curious about Lacosta as Lacosta is about the cinnamon. Make your move lil kitty.]

I would like that. Thanks, RoLal. [Shush it'll totally be fun.]

[Locasta would argue she's helping by licking it up, but is probably just making a bigger mix. Miraculously, she may have found a food (or spice) she likes.]

What has August been practicing with? Raisins are p harmless.

He tried "practicing" with my backpack. It...did not work.

Ouch. [Roxy cleans up the last of the poor little raisins that never stood a chance.]

[Now for cooking lessons with Jane! They will totally not burn ~~down the hotel~~ the food because Jane.] Ready for the first lesson in raisin making. [And the cinnamon is a mess.] Almost ready. Do we actually need that part of the kitchen? [Locasta is rather content to just lick it up after all.]

[Of course they won't! Also they are the best team, it is them, so nothing can go wrong. Seriously. No ironic sarcasm here, they're gonna do great.]

Ah...no, let them just...enjoy themselves for a while. [She cups a hand around her mouth towards the Pokemon.] You two better not get sick from licking the floor like that!

[Bettina grunts, flapping her wings a little. She gives none of the fucks. Jane sighs, shaking her head.]

I'll go over it with some paper towels later. For now, let's make raisins.

[Locasta smiles at Jane and then at Bettina. Jane's in charge, so ignoring that mess...]

Once we have grapes, I have no idea what to do. [Trays were involved and maybe something else.]

Are you making other things besides pudding? And do they pay you exclusively in grapes?

Well, it's not that hard. We put them out on the baking trays in one layer and let them sit in the oven so the heat dries them out. We check on them, so they don't burn. And as for right now, yes, all I've got is pudding, and the monks pay me exclusively in grapes. I've been supplementing my income with trainer battles, though.

[And, well, winning a badge. They give you a fat stack of cash for that.]

Wow. [She is glad she doesn't work for them.]

Pudding sounds good. I've never tried it.

[You don't want to be paid in grapes. Especially such a high volume of them.]
