Hi, so... Quick question. I'm thinking of collecting recipes from different places and making a restaurant somewhere. So what are the foods people miss from home? Have you found something almost like them? What's your favorite dish in some of the big cities?

And like... do any of you have cures for motion sickness or indigestion from riding flying pokemon 'cause it doesn't matter how much space experience I have, my gastrointestinal tract has never wanted a part of any adventure on any realm of existence. If there's a noncorporeal plane to visit? I guarantee I'd find a way to feel sick on it on the first hard right turn.

[Mostly he's learned to just cope and ignore it but not dealing with it at all would be nice.]

[He's made a few friends over the network, but he's not left the Sevii Islands very much. He likes it there, it reminds him a lot of where he grew up, but he does know he needs to get out more. Even if it means he needs to hitch rides more.]

[He's walking around with a Nidorina in tow, (though she's shambling considerably slower than him). A box of poffins in one hand and a lunch for Luisa even if he probably should have asked her what she liked first. He's got his gear out, looking over the directions to the meeting place with a confused squint.]

I know my friends and I would appreciate some good Italian fare. I can send you recipes they and I are particularly fond of, too.

They're soft but firm, if that makes sense. Like, uh, what are they called...

Oh, doughnuts! Like a dense doughnut, but smooth like a marshmallow. They come in all sorts of flavors, so you can make lots of different desserts with them if you want to cook anything.

If you can make a carb cube without a dehydrator I'll be really impressed.

An "international" restaurant would be great! I haven't had much types of food outside Egyptian so I'd be excited to try all sorts of new stuff.

I enjoyed... ah... I believe they called it "dagashi" when I went overseas. It's like... junk food? I guess that's the best way to describe it.

But I can try and give you some recipes I remember from home. I'm not much of a cook myself but my older brother made the best meals. I really miss having aish baladi and koshary.

Well there are a lot of great ways to prep mushrooms! I'll look more into it.

I'll also see if I can find some close equivalent for venison. I don't know where you're staying at but I'm thinking of going on a trip to a lot of the cities while checking out ingredients. Maybe if I get to yours at some point I could try to make you something. I can always use taste testers.

Yeah, it's amazing how much I miss things like cars or familiar birds. Or, you know... quiet. But you can't really get that in a picture.

You may be onto something. There are psychic pokemon here, right? Maybe a medical professional has one that can hypnotize me to not care? Unless it's some other thing that's wrong.

Why can't there be an easy fix for a pretty common problem.

Yeah.... I'm glad a lot of the Pokemon look like animals from home. It helps a little. And the regions even look like places from there, or Johto does, at least. But it's still not the same.

Well, I wouldn't want you to give away a family recipe unless you wanted to. But I do think they do make for some of the best food.

Nice! Squid always pairs pretty well with something like shrimp, too. I'll definitely look into that, thanks.

Oh man, that sounds great! I never thought of adding bonito flakes. Bulgogi-flavored franks, sure, and teriyaki? But bonito? Someone really thought ahead there.

I am so ready for some Italian food anyway. [He's been overindulging in the beachfront food lately. Not that it's bad? But he likes to mix things up.] Send them on over. Luckily a lot of the ingredients here still line up even if I'm going to have to double check soooo many cheeses.

When I was out in space traveling sometimes we'd liberate people who hadn't been home in a long time. One of the best things about it was seeing them taste food they missed, or wear clothes that they chose for themselves. It was such a small thing but the look on their faces made little things like that worth fighting for.

I know no one here is oppressed or anything but people still miss the good parts of home. [Doing something like that for people means a lot to him.]

Anyway, I'd love to add some Egyptian food. I don't have much experience making it, so that obviously means I need to do it more.

There are many creatures with psychic powers here it seems. It is one option at least.

It would depend whether it is your emotional response that causes illness or not
If it is the former then hypnosis would likely work
If not then illness is still likely

It is a mystery. There are magical items that are capable of easing those unpleasant symptoms
but it appears that all magic on this plane has been infused into its native beings so it is of little help

Is that so? That's good to know. That'll make things easier when I make things for my travel group.

[The other part of the response takes a while, with Bucciarati sending over text recipes for food he knows Abbacchio and Narancia enjoy, including pizza Margherita and a marinated chickpea and arugula salad, followed by his own preferred recipes for a pasta dish with squid and grilled scallops.]

Those should be sufficient for now, though I'd be more than happy to send you more recipes in the future. I did a considerable amount of cooking for my friends back home.

You're absolutely right. Even just the slightest thing can really help in those situations.

I'm more than happy to share what I can remember though. They're all fairly simply dishes so it shouldn't be too difficult.

You... wouldn't happen to know how to make rice balls, would you? They seemed simple in concept but I've never made them personally. Those were my go-to food in Japan and I think they'd be perfect on the road meals, you know?

Hi Luisa! Yeah, it's me! [He confirms, just in case there's some miraculous Pokemonlander who looks exactly like him out there and she needs the additional reassurance that this foodie nerd is indeed the genuine interdimensional Hunk.]

[He gets to her and offers a bento box out of his bag.] I brought you some food, too. [Shay happily twitches her ears as she follows.]

Yeah! I make rice balls all the time. I could show you how to make them... I mean, I'm only now putting together travelling plans, but I could even show you over the gear's video or something when you get a craving.

I was really concerned. I've been a to a lot of worlds where the textures and tastes were really unexpected. Everything here? Pretty predictable, and honestly that's great.

Though now you got me thinking some quick prep food packages would also be a good sell. A lot of ingredients ready to cook because it's hard to cover everything when you're on the road.

I'm not sure if it's physical or mental. I've been like this as long as I can remember. I've been able to suppress it in tense situations and get used to certain ways of travel, so it could be a mental thing.

[He's never thought about it that hard before, but it's a very good point.]

Yeah, I think you're onto something. It's worth seeing about. Even helping it a little would let me get around a lot more.

Yeah, the Sevii Islands are a lot like where I grew up. Upolu and then O'ahu. But it's still different enough to notice. Sort of like an uncanny valley thing.

That's a good way to put it.

O'ahu? Like in Hawaii?

Yeah. Some of my family lived there. I can even do pidgin when the mood hits me. And the mood is usually an argument with a cousin or something.

Cool. It's always nice to talk to someone from the home planet.

I don't know any Hawaiian myself. I speak English and Spanish and some Japanese. But I'm always up for learning new things, if you ever feel like passing on some of the language.

That's a fantastic idea! It can be hard to cover everything on the road, and even when you're in town, you may just forget something when shopping. If you did provide packages like those, I would absolutely buy them, especially if you found a way to have those delivered.
