Hi, so... Quick question. I'm thinking of collecting recipes from different places and making a restaurant somewhere. So what are the foods people miss from home? Have you found something almost like them? What's your favorite dish in some of the big cities?

And like... do any of you have cures for motion sickness or indigestion from riding flying pokemon 'cause it doesn't matter how much space experience I have, my gastrointestinal tract has never wanted a part of any adventure on any realm of existence. If there's a noncorporeal plane to visit? I guarantee I'd find a way to feel sick on it on the first hard right turn.

[Mostly he's learned to just cope and ignore it but not dealing with it at all would be nice.]

[He's made a few friends over the network, but he's not left the Sevii Islands very much. He likes it there, it reminds him a lot of where he grew up, but he does know he needs to get out more. Even if it means he needs to hitch rides more.]

[He's walking around with a Nidorina in tow, (though she's shambling considerably slower than him). A box of poffins in one hand and a lunch for Luisa even if he probably should have asked her what she liked first. He's got his gear out, looking over the directions to the meeting place with a confused squint.]

The restaurant sounds lovely, Hunk. Obviously the ingredients would be different, but I'd be honored to share some Altean recipes with you.

As for the motion sickness, I've heard that ginger is good for that.

Coran gave me a few, but I'd definitely not turn down some more. [As did some other Alteans, but that part he'll not talk about. It means he can make Altean deserts though.] Everyone gets a little homesick, so they deserve to have some little reminders.

I could even hire someone to do some paintings of different worlds for the walls if it works out! [But he knows that all this would take a long time. Longer than it would back home 'cause unlike Vrepit Sal's there's not a fixed menu or location he can commandeer like a food tyrant.]

I'd love some of his art! [He realizes now that he probably didn't encourage that kind of creativity in his friends as much as he should have. And it could really help people out here, having commissions with reminders of things from home.]

I just feel like- even if this is a great place for people that went through troubled times, most of them also had good times too, right? They might want to remember those.

[To be quite fair, they were in the middle of a war and Hunk had his own duties and stresses. It's easier to focus on in a post-war world, or in a reality like this with no war at all.]

I've been doing some restaurant work to try and build up cash, but really, thank you guys for helping out. Maybe I can start a food cart soon at the very least.

[And that'd be fun to travel around with, to be honest, even if it'd take quite a journey between locations. He's not run into any Rockets so he's not all that worried about it if he could manage it.]

I'm just thinking a food cart might be a good start.

That would be an interesting venture, and extremely welcome. Many traveling the routes would appreciate a cooked meal in between settlements.

Nice! With the stuff we have here, that's totally doable. [Hey, a comfort food is a comfort food! And coleslaw is an awesome side to have around anyway.] Unless you've got some kind of magic cabbage back home and then I'll start adapting.

Tea's not a bad plan! It helps me out too. Who knows, maybe they have some unique teas here.

Yeah. Yeah. I didn't expect flying pokemon to be such a trip when I borrowed one. I mean, I made it? But it's a miracle my lunch did. [A slight improvement that it did, unlike how he used to be.] What does it take to use those portal things again?

Yeah, man. Describing works! There are a lot of people that choose food by 'I like stuff with-' and not specifics. Custom ingredients are totally a thing. And we found a lot of great stuff out in space.

Oh, the carbohydrate cubes were always my favorite. You can get through a whole thing of them if you're not paying attention, even when they're still dehydrated.

And yeah, travel through space and travel on land are very different beasts. Have you tried a blindfold? I've heard that taking away one of your senses can help.

I'm not much of a cook, but if you are interested in Menzoberranyr cooking, Jarlaxle might be able to help. He's done reasonably well with what's available here, I think.

Carbohydrate cubes? Totally a new one for me. But I do get that some heavy carb snacks are great to tear through.

Have you tasted anything here that comes close? I bet with some experimenting I could come up with something similar. I just need a base to work with.

Not tried a blindfold before but also I usually needed to be aware enough to pilot. I guess I don't have to be that attentive on a flying pokemon though, huh?

That's a really cool idea! I'm sure that would be popular with everyone who's here from other worlds. I guess I kinda miss meat. I don't feel comfortable eating meat here when all I can think of is that it must come from Pokemon. Maybe if I ever get home, I won't feel like eating meat there anymore either. I look for good meat substitutes and make some of my own. There's some pretty cool vegetarian lasagnas I've tried at restaurants in Goldenrod. I'll be making some versions of my own too. I can give you some recipes from home, lasagna and pizza and some Spanish dishes.

I wonder if they have something here like those wristbands you can buy back home to wear on airplanes. Those are supposed to help with motion sickness, although I'm skeptical about them working as advertised.

Jarlaxle? I'll remember that. Adapting ingredients is one of my favorite things to do. I've been to a lot of worlds.

Sure people have different taste buds and nutritional needs sometimes but here it's a little more uniform. It should make it easier to work with. What are some Menzoberranyr foods you like? Or what are they generally like, anyway?

Most of the things I've tried have only helped a little and still made me really tired. It blows, man. Usually I wasn't the adventuring type so it wasn't a huge problem until I really needed to get around.

I've cooked for planets that cater to herbivorous species so I learned a lot of tricks to making good flavorful vegetables. I'm definitely down to hear some more. [Goldenrod is somewhere he might go to more often, so he'll want to pick up a few from there.]

What do you think of the idea of commissioning art based on people's worlds? So they can have some reminders of home on the walls? You know, so long as they're neutral [Don't want to trigger someone's PTSD with some specifically associated with conflict, but scenery or native plants and animals would be nice, right?]

I guess they're kind of like marshmallows? More dense, though. There's a lot more variety here. It's hard to pick when I go to the store, y'know?

I tried some of the berries, because my guys seem to like them, but other than a blue diamond one they were all gross.

[And she has built up a stockpile of them, to nibble on when she starts feeling anxious. Nibbles helps too; Skitties are so small, but their purrs are so big, and it's impossible to get up when she falls asleep in Astrid's lap.]

Do you need to pilot a pokemon? If it knows where to go, it probably doesn't need direction.

We eat a lot of mushrooms? Along with fish from Lake Donigarten and meat and dairy from the deep rothé herds. None of the meats I've encountered here have quite the right texture or flavor, but I think... beef was closest.

Yeah, no kidding. Well, I wouldn't think the wristbands would make people sleepy, but who knows.

Yeah, other than for pokemon treats? The berries aren't great. Cube marshmallows are very doable, but do they lean towards anything taste wise? A fruity flavor? Crunchy? Soft? Any honey tones?

[He's legitimately curious because he loves a culinary challenge.]

I had to borrow a flying one to visit someone. I got good at piloting my mechanical lion back home but it was sort of a soul connection going on there. And even that took a while. But maybe you're right. It's worth trying. [So long as the pokemon is smart enough to know where it's going and doesn't have the average person's sense of direction sans a map or guide.]

Closing your eyes while moving helps I have heard

[ Not that he's experienced it himself (being sick, just in general, is something of a rare experience for him) but taking people through walls and warping through spacetime is always full of sensations people would rather have less of. ]

Curing the sensation is more difficult
I believe it is an issue of conflict within the brain's signals

I'm personally a fan of my abuelita's mole--but she still hasn't shared the recipe with me, so I've had to go without since I came here. Though it is possible to get mole here in Goldenrod--the city's fairly cosmopolitan and you can find a restaurant from most regions--but it's not the same as a family recipe, you know?

As far as foods here go... well, I ended up eating something called squid noodles in Sinnoh that I was rather fond of. They're, well, squid or the local equivalent cut into long, thin lengths and served like noodles would be.

I mean, I like hot dogs. You can still get them here? But depending which hotdog stand you get them from, the toppings are different. Like in Ecruteak, they'll make 'em with mayo and teriyaki sauce and bonito flakes.
