[It's okay Romelle, Kazuki doesn't really notice. You may realize soon that he's quite thick about this sort of thing.]

Uhh... Right! Okay. I remember now.

On Earth, there are two bright stars in the sky that you can see best at this time of year. According to the story, one of them is Orihime, and one of them is Hikoboshi. Orihime was a weaver, and she weaved really beautiful cloth for her father's house. She took it really seriously, so she was sad and lonely because she had no time to find lover. Her father took pity on her, and introduced her to Hikoboshi, who was a cowherd who lived across the river of the Milky Way.

They fell in love right away, and they were both really happy. But they were so in love that Orihime stopped weaving and Hikoboshi stopped herding his cows. Everything in heaven became a huge mess because of it, and Orihime's father got so mad he had them separated.

Orihime was so sad that she couldn't see Hikoboshi anymore, and her father eventually had pity on her, and then said that she could see Hikoboshi one day a year, on the seventh day of the seventh month. On that day, birds flock in heaven to make a bridge over the Milky Way so she can cross and see Hikoboshi.

If it rains on that day on Earth, we call it Orihime's tears, because the birds can't find the heavens on a cloudy day, and she doesn't get to see Hikoboshi.

And that's why we write wishes on that day! Because it's the one day a year that the lord of the heavens grants his daughter's wish, so maybe he'll hear our wishes too.
