Too late. Challenge accepted.

[And with that, Mando zooms off again. He's not going to beat the lion; he knows he's not going to beat a full starship with his jetpack. But he's going to have a hell of a time trying.]

... why does no one believe me when I say that?

[He's probably talking to the Black Lion at that point. But he also doesn't really expect an answer. Maybe a vague sense of amusement buried somewhere in the general sensation he gets from the Lion.]

[Then they're off. Trailing after Mando at a decent distance so they don't overtake him. Running into someone with a ship the size of the Black Lion would be disastrous, to say the least.]

[It's fine, Shiro; Mando's tough, he can almost certainly take a blow from a literal spaceship and be okay.]

[Mando waits until he hears the Lion coming up behind them, then flips himself so he's facing it. Okay, he knows he can't outrun this thing, but he's discovered that it's pretty fun to dive in and around larger ships/sentient robot beings, so that's exactly what he does. When the Lion is close enough, Mando abruptly dives at it, shooting off between its legs and under its belly.]

[Maybe he's been watching Loth-Cat play with his toys recently, and thinks the Lion might enjoy batting at him like a kitten. He trust that Shiro will keep it from actually clobbering him.]

Careful down there! Black might decide you're a threat.

[The Lion will not do that. He's reassured as much. Unfortunately, this particular Lion is not so cat-like as the others might be. Or Blue, probably. It's a much more reserved, stately sort of presence.]

[Thinking the man with the jetpack is harmful though... it's possible.]

[Also he just can't see Mando, except on scans.]

Oh, I get it.

[Mando zips back up behind the Lion, then flies more slowly over beside its head, where he assumes Shiro can see him. He waves again, then flies upwards to hover beside the Lion's ear.]

You're one of those dignified, sophisticated cats, aren't you? Can I scratch behind your ear for you?

[He's going to do it. He's going to throw his whole body into scratching behind an enormous Lion ear.]

[There's... no response.]

[Except Shiro's voice.]

I - don't think she's really a cat. Or an animal at all.

[The Lions are alien, pure and simple. They don't really subscribe to the usual rules of felines.]
