Summary: Min gets stuck with a feral possum for the day. Riz and Ryan finally meet. It's all way too stressful.

[Today has not been a good day. From the moment he'd woken up to being forcibly repelled away from his tentmate it had been obvious it wasn't going to be. Sorting that mess out in the still too-cold weather had not been fun, and neither had travelling the remaining distance to Saffron without any of their usual closeness. By the time they reach the city Min-Gi honestly just wants to be away from Ryan completely. Contact comes so easily to them. It's not as though he's unaware of how physical they are, but he doesn't normally have any reason to think too hard about it. Having it taken away just feels cruel. It doesn't help that Ryan keeps trying to test the boundaries of it. Sometimes it almost seems like he's having fun with it, something Min decidedly isn't.

He waits until they've sorted a room, but once things are squared away and their belongings are safely stowed in the room he doesn't waste much time hanging about. He makes some excuse about how he "feels like a walk", something that likely Ryan does not buy given how bitter the weather still is even in Saffron and the fact they've already spent most of the last two days on foot.

Even so, it feels better than sitting around in a room with Ryan pretending he isn't bothered. At least until Riz brushes past and he finds himself dealing with the exact opposite problem. Nothing they do seems to be able to separate them, and given it's a city... it doesn't take long before the pair of them start drawing eyes. Suddenly being back in the room doesn't seem like such a bad idea after all.

Having Riz in tow makes fishing the keycard out of his wallet a little trickier than it would be normally once they do get back, but he manages without too much difficulty and unlocks the door. He only opens it partway to start, wanting to give Ryan a heads up they have a guest before just barging in.]

Ryan? Are you still here?

[He turns to glance at Riz with a frown, dropping his voice.]

Don't be weird, okay?

[Min looks furious, like he'd march right into the principal's office if they weren't prevented by the fact they're in two totally separate worlds.]

Dude, what?!

[It overlaps with Min-Gi's exclaimation, so that what is completely in sync with his. He's just as horrified to hear this.]

Did anyone like, do something about it? Why would someone slam dunk you in the garbage?!

Ragh was dealing with a lot of stuff back then, and I'm a goblin so I made for an easy target. It's fine now. Ragh is my friend now. He's really sorry about the whole bully phase.

[As for anyone doing anything about it -- well, their vice-principal turned out to be a crazy dragon bent on world domination and their principal, at the time, was being poisoned into losing his mind. So. You know. Just school stuff.]

Who cares? That's not an excuse.

[But even if he's not convinced Riz is the best judge of character, it's not like he has any say in who he's friends with. He sighs, rubbing his brow with his free hand.]

It's good if he's sorry, but it's still really messed up. Someone should've done something about it.

[Ryan is a little more sympathetic to that particular argument. He gets wanting things to be fine on a personal level, and though he does cast a look Min's way that says he doesn't entirely buy everything is okay here, he smothers the righteous anger just a little bit. Besides, he literally just met Riz, so...what does he know?]

Someone definitely should've. But...I guess as long as he's not still throwing you in the garbage...?

[Please. Please tell them this guy doesn't still chuck you in the garbage. Please, Riz.]

No, like I said, he's my friend now. He's practically a Bad Kid himself.

[The way Riz says Bad Kid, it comes with capitals and A Meaning. It's clear he is referring to something, even if it might not be something Min or Ryan are familiar with.]

[Oh. Hm. Min might not know what the Bad Kids are exactly, but he does know some of the things Riz has done in school (like murder.....) so he's not sure that's a positive thing.]

Did he... break any laws?

[Yep, that is a very natural question with even more natural delivery. He'll be taking no notes.]

[Ryan is a lot more easily impressed by this than Min is. He has no idea what would have gotten Riz that title - and he can only guess his friend got it from dunking people in trash cans - but being a bad boy is fun.]

No, of course not!

[The answer is immediately, always quick to defend a friend. Though, huh. Had they broken any laws? Riz doesn't think so. His mind doesn't even go to the people they've killed (not that there are laws against killing demons, and frankly, those pirates had deserved it!) but rather to some other activities.]

I mean, unless you count drinking and doing a little bit of drugs on Leviathan. But it's not like there were laws there. So it's okay.

That's not okay. Just because something isn't illegal that doesn't mean it isn't bad.

[This is a man who grew up before the golden age of anti-drug PSAs.]

[Okay, Ryan can't help laughing a little bit at that. Min-Gi, come on.]

We're not his parents, man. He can do all the lawless drugs he wants!

Ragh's mom sounds rad. She probably wouldn't mind him drinking and doing a little bit of drugs.

[Riz has never met Lydia Barkrock, but any person who is willing to take a crazy, demon-infested gem into her own body just so nobody else will be in danger has got to be cool.]

My mom though...

[Sklonda is absolutely going to kill him. She'll hug him tight, give him one of those customary head kisses, and then absolutely murder him unless Riz somehow manages to keep her from finding out about his tattoos forever.]

If she was that rad then she wouldn't let him do those kinds of things.

[He's kind of surprised that Riz's mom would be strict about that kind of thing though. Thankfully he manages to bite down on any comment he might have had about that. Now is really not the time to be getting into arguments with Riz.]

[The natural course of conversation would have Ryan weighing in on this mother debate and chime in on whether or not a rad mom would be okay with things like that. However, Ryan side-steps that entirely and just changes the subject and hopes everyone comes with him.]

Soooo how did all of this happen?

[Ryan vaguely gestures at, you know. Rizmin in general.]

Is there anything we can do to pull you guys apart? That you haven't already tried, I mean.

[Because there's no way they haven't tried at all yet.]

[WE CANNOT ALLOW RIZMIN TO HAPPEN. THIS IS A SHIP THAT CANNOT SET SAIL.

It actually takes Riz a moment to follow Ryan on his sudden switch of topic. Usually everybody is left scrambling in the wake of Riz's brain free-associating topics and making a jump across several topics, so to be the one in pursuit for once is an interesting reversal.

But right. The being stuck situation.]

Oh, well, we obviously tried pulling. Both ourselves and with help of our pokemon. I said we could try and use a knife to cut us free, but I got overruled.

[A momentary grouchy look up at Min. It's not like Riz was gonna saw through their arms at the elbow or anything! Just carefully run a knife between their skin just in case it was an invisible sort of glue holding them together.]

[It takes Min a beat to process the change in topic. It doesn't exactly surprise him given the way the conversation had been heading (and he feels a little bit bad about that when he actually has to consider it), but his brain has barely switched over by the time Riz is done listing suggestions.

He shoots Riz an unimpressed look, instinctively starting to jerk his arm away from him before it registers how pointless the attempt would be.]

We aren't using a knife! That's crazy. We're better off waiting it out. It's not like it can last forever, right?

Yeah, no, definitely not using a knife. Sorry, bud. You're getting overruled again.

[It's a good thought, but no one is getting cut with a knife, even if it's just an accident while trying to slice the invisible glue apart. But Ryan doesn't fully agree with Min either, and just flat out ignores the suggestion to wait it out. Sometimes you can make a mistake even if you're standing still, Min!

But. That also means coming up with other solutions. Hm...]

...Maybe a crowbar?

[They do not own a crowbar.]

[Riz is not opposed to trying a crowbar! Though in his mind, that is no more dangerous than a knife. These guys simply don't understand how dexterous he is when it comes to these things.]

Why would we have a crowbar?

[His irritation has switched over to Ryan now, mouth twisted into a frown at the ridiculousness of his suggestion. He knows he's trying to help, but it feels pointless and it's easier to lash out than come up with even more failed ideas.]

We've tried everything, Ryan. Unless you want to take a trip to the hardware store for something that's not even going to work, just drop it. Okay?

[It's been a long day and Ryan can't help snapping back a little.]

At least I'm trying to think of stuff! We don't know how long this is even going to last! What if you guys are stuck together forever? Then you'll be like "man I really wish I tried that crowbar thing like Ryan said."

[Which is a long way to say that no, he's not dropping it. No way. Not until he's actually tried things.

A new thought strikes him and he gasps and blurts it out.]

--Dude. Min. What if I'm the crowbar?

[...Oh, did you think this second part was going to be an explanation of what that means?

Because all they get is Ryan just looking at the two of them hopefully, exactly like this, fully expecting them to follow this thought with him.]

[Riz stares. Stares some more. And when finally it seems like no further explanation is forth-coming, he turns his head to stare up at Min, his expression begging for explanation, cause listen buddy, this is your friend, you figure this one out.]

[Luckily for Riz, Min thinks he knows where Ryan is going with this. He does not approve, as Riz might be able to guess from his expression once he finally stops waiting for Ryan to elaborate.]

You are not being the crowbar. Actually, you should avoid anything that means touching Riz at all. What happens if you get stuck too?

[It's possible Ryan did already in the chaos of Min's return to the room, but he's not sure and he doesn't want to take anymore chances. This is bad enough.]

Ooooor what if I can't touch him either and it forces you two apart? It could totally work!

[Or all three of them could wind up stuck together, stuck in a horrible infinitely spinning circle, probably set to geddan.]

I mean, we knocked each other back so hard this morning that it literally broke our tent! If anything's going to yank you two apart it's the dumb force that's keeping us from touching each other.

[It could work, true, but it also couldn't, in which case--]

Woah, I don't want to end up stuck to both of you! This [Here Riz raises his and Min's share arm, giving it a shake and very nearly swatting Min in the face on accident.] is super annoying, but at least I still have one arm to do things with. We should exhaust all our options first before we try something so risky.
