( there is a petite, blue haired young lady crouched down with her arms draped over her knees to be at the same level as the fennekin whom is sitting just in front of its trainer. for the time being, they simply stare at one another as though locked in some powerfully important staring contest. they remain as such for some time, in silence, until amaterasu finally shifts her footing which causes the fennekin to peer down at her moving feet. )

So.

( amaterasu lifts a hand from her knee and, as fennekin looks up again, presses the pad of her finger in a light "boop" to its nose. )

You are now Amaterasu's partner, yes?

( the fennekin nods.

to people passing by or simply noticing it, the exchange is a little... odd. but given the way she just sort of arrived in a house that wasn't hers, waking in a bed that also certainly wasn't hers, to a mother who was lacking in the "hers" department also... perhaps it isn't as odd a thing as it could be. )

What is Amaterasu meant to do with you now? Do you like to nap? Amaterasu likes to nap, we could try that, maybe?

( she decides that this is probably one of the best times to try and work the video thing on her pokégear and so she fiddles with it and after a few failed attempts, she manages to catch on film the moment where fennekin bounces after evie in order to catch her and get the game of tag going. )

How competitive! They are both good at running!

Amaterasu is supposed to train this baby Fenrir ( it's not fenrir, ama. ) to battle! It is like training to run about, yes?

[Evie is delighted and happy to be It! She starts to chase!]

More like train her to use her attacks in battle. Is Fenrir her name?

[He knows the mythology, at least a little, and just assumes it's the name chosen.]

( fennekin trills as she runs from evie but not fast enough she can't be caught to keep the game going. )

Huh, Amaterasu never thought of that... Yes, Fenrir is a good name for her!

[Sooner or later there is an enthusiastic pounce.

Yeah, it is. You're into Norse mythology?

( fennekin trills and rolls about with evie!

amaterasu blinks at him. it's not "mythology" where she comes from. fenrir is very much a proper being in her world. )

What do you mean? Fenrir is one of the beasts that the Rune Wielder has made friends with on the journey to stopping Ragnarok. He's much bigger than this little baby Fenrir, but, so is Garm and he's powerful! So Amaterasu thinks she will be too.

Oh, my mistake. Where I come from, there's stories about Fenrir that have been around for centuries. And yes, I'm sure this Fenrir will grow up very big and strong.

Ah, Amaterasu sees... ( she nods. ) Amaterasu has been around for many centuries! Perhaps the Midgardians consider it a story, then? Amaterasu should have known.

Your Evie is like a baby Fenrir, too!

They are both very cute. Did you train yours? Or is that not something you do as a breeder?

I guess they do?

[He smiles.]

She is. I train her a little so she'll be prepared in case we have to fight, but I don't do it a lot.

( amaterasu smiles in turn. )

That is good! Amaterasu can ask how to train, then. What sort of things are good for training?

[crystalmaster]

Well, one of Evie's favorite attacks is Swift, so she practices that a lot. It doesn't always require another Pokemon present, just something to aim at. We use soda bottles if we're practicing for a Contest or something else that involves showing off moves without battling. She also uses Tackle, and other Pokemon are usually happy to play that with her. To really train well, the Pokemon have to face off like it's a real battle and use their attacks on each other. Good thing they think of it like a game, or like human fighters training to get stronger.

Huh, hmm. Yes, all of that makes sense to Amaterasu so Amaterasu will do the same thing. Thank you!

( her eyes widen though. )

What contests?

Well, from time to time they have Contests for the Pokemon to act out scenes and use moves in a non-battle way. It's really interesting and fun.

Like a play at a theatre? That is interesting. Amaterasu looks forward to seeing something like that. Perhaps baby Fenrir could join!

[crystalmaster]

Yeah, maybe so! There's going to be one in a few days. I think transportation will be provided.

[He shows his invitation.]

( she leans to peer at it. )

Huh, so there is one coming up? Amaterasu is intrigued. But will I be able to go?

[crystalmaster]

I think so? I went to one shortly after I first arrived. They have transportation for all the people here.

Ah, splendid! Amaterasu will look into it then! Thank you for letting Amaterasu know.
