Eleventh Spell: Live on TV [video].

Remembering that he'd said that he would film his gym battle against Bugsy, Keldor fiddles with his pokegear to make sure that it'll catch everything while being out of harm's way once the action starts.

"Oh, are we live?" Bugsy asks with a grin once he sees the pokegear. This will not be the only time he's been filmed about to battle a trainer for his badge, and is acting accordingly. "Well then. I'll make sure to give the audience something they'll all enjoy."

Keldor doesn't say anything; he just has his "battle face" on [it might be better described as "eager soldier face"].

"Right. Well, go Pinsir!"

A familiar popping sound, and the grabby grub jumps out, ready to go.

"Fushimi! Go!"

Out pops Keldor's new Fuecoco, looking determined to do her best.

"Ah. I see you've done your homework, too! Very good!"

And so, with that, the battle begins.

Keldor will be available to chat [video/voice/text] once the battle's over and he's been given the Hive Badge.

Radley rarely watches battles unless a friend is battling, and he and his Pokemon are definitely cheering for Keldor. He's wanted this for so many months.

"Hey, congratulations!" he says at the end. "All you guys' hard work really paid off!"

His Pokemon squeal and warble in delight.

Radley's voice and the happy pokemon can be heard just as he's about to put the 'gear away to go and tend to his party.

"Thank you, Radley. That means much to me coming from you."

Radley smiles, pleased. "You'll have to celebrate! It's been a long time coming."

"I think that such a thing is in order," he agrees. "Something to mark this occasion before I depart for the next habitation."

"Yeah! There should be some nice party spots in town that you and the Pokemon will all like. Will you be going through the forest to get here next?" Radley asks.

"That sounds like an idea."

Though, given that he's a prince, Keldor's idea of what a party is would probably end up becoming a stuffy, formal affair.

"Yes. It appears to be the only route available for me to take, as I have yet to train any that can the Fly move."

Yeah, he doesn't sound overjoyed at having to rough it again.

Radley intends to show him a much more fun party when he arrives.

"I think it takes five days to go through the forest," he says. "But then you'll be here and we can hang out for a while."

Maybe a long while, if it's anything like Keldor's sojourn in Azalea.

A sojourn that was long on account of the weather. It's better now, so the stay in Goldenrod might be shorter as a result.

"Now that the snow has retreated, five days sounds like an accurate time frame to be able to get to Goldenrod and 'hang out'."

Who in their right mind wants to bunk out in snow?

True, although Radley hopes for a long stay anyway. There's a lot to do in town.

"We'll be expecting you," he smiles.

Moreso than laid-back Azalea, anyways.

You can only patronise the local Tim Hoothooton's for so long before it starts to lose its charm ~~but those little round balls of pastry are so good—~~.

"In about a week's time, by my estimation."

Boy he's gonna reek by the time he enters city limits. o.o

"Just let us know when you're ready," Radley says, figuring he'll want to get settled at the Pokemon Center or an inn first.

Or he'll be marched into the centre or an inn for smelling exactly like someone who hasn't showered in a week while out roaming the countryside.

"I shall. I definitely shall."

"Great! We'll see you then."

Radley's Pokemon warble happily.

"Enjoying yourself?"

He noticed that look on your face, buddy.

"Especially so, now that I am victorious."

Ah, one of those types.

"Gonna go out and celebrate, then?"

Keldor won't lie; as someone who was once a soldier he does enjoy the rush that battle brings. It's why he's a trainer not a breeder. But when it's over he's just as happy to engage in peaceful pursuits as combative ones.

Like reading a good book.

Which is what makes his future—his fate—particularly tragic.

"Hmmm... I think I shall do that."

Geddoe's thinking more the 'really likes to win' type, actually. But he's not going to actually say it. Not in public over the network, at least.

"Be careful not to celebrate too hard."

That might be a joke. Maybe.

Oh of course he does. Unless you're a jobber in wrestling, does anyone really like to lose?

"I did not think it is possible to 'celebrate too hard' in a victory ceremony?"

Yes, he said "ceremony".

That's what you're supposed to do, right?

Damn, Keldor; you really need to stop defaulting to royal protocol every time...

There's liking to win, and there's really liking to win. Geddoe's on the more indifferent end, himself. It's nice, sure, but a loss generally doesn't bother him much, either.

"Ceremony?" Geddoe raises an eyebrow at that. "You planning on putting one on for yourself?"

Usually, that's something other people do for the person the whole thing's for, in Geddoe's experience. Not that he's a fan of that fancy stuff, himself.

Just one of those unfortunate holdovers from his soldiering days, when a loss during the Great Unrest could have serious consequences for the loser.

"Not for myself. For my pokemon. I wish to commemorate their achievements."

Goodness me! Keldor isn't a credit-thief! He knows who did most of the work here today! He just wants them to feel proud of themselves.

Well. That's certainly an idea. More effort than Geddoe would go to, but to each his own, right?

"Something more than congratulations and some treats, huh?" Or... whatever it is most people do.

"I supply them such readily enough. But a gym battle is not often done."

Only so many gyms in a region.

"For that, they deserve something special."

Really likes combat. Really likes winning. But also a good guy to have as a trainer.

Keldor is pure leadership material. 🏅

Ah, yes, leaders. So many different kinds! Geddoe would arguably be a great one, except that he absolutely chafes at the idea of being put front and center in charge of things. He'd much rather someone else handle all that nonsense.

"Hopefully they'll like what you come up with then."

Geddoe is also not the type to be really overt in his praise. But it kinda works out, because if you know him well enough, you'll know if he does give a compliment, he really means it.

Keldor might feel the same way were it not for the fact that he feels duty-bound to take on such a role. Not just because it's the role he was born for. Not just because it's his birthright. But because he's seen what life is really like for anyone who's not human.

Someone has to do something about it. Someone who understands. It might as well be him.

"I shall do my best to ensure that it is as satisfactory as possible."

So long as doing something doesn't make the problem worse. One reason Geddoe doesn't take a more active role in similar matters in his own world is awareness that they're rarely ever simple or easy to fix.

"Have fun."

This is, unfortunately, a topic largely outside Geddoe's expertise, so he doesn't have any real advice to give on it.

This is a valid concern, and the answer to that depends on whether Keldor is allowed to live up to his potential, or if tragedy strikes before then.

And, given how not nice canon is to Keldor, anyone familiar with it already knows what the answer to that is.

"I shall. I intend fully to enjoy myself."

There's probably a whole philosophical debate to be had here, really. Good thing Geddoe's not interested in exploring it beyond maybe giving advice if asked.

"Well, don't let me keep you, then."

Go do... whatever it is you've got cooked up for the Pokémon, rather than chatting with a grouchy old man.

At any rate, it's probably the sort of thing best saved for another day, if one of them comes along.

There's a chuckle on Keldor's end. He's starting to learn how to read Geddoe a little better.

"I shall not delay you either."

Someday if both of them actually feel about talking about heavier topics than Pokémon training, perhaps.

In any case, Geddoe only gives a grunt in response before promptly ending the feed. He's been in a bit of a Mood lately, and knows it; no need to let that rain on someone else's parade.
