Several facts have been established at this point.
One: Riz has been kidnapped (they keep telling him they are not kidnappers and his friends from the future, but he doesn't buy that! Riz doesn't have any friends)
Two: the kidnappers have turned him into a human (they keep telling him it is this world that does it, but that seems like some sort of nonsense to Riz)
And three: ... okay, he doesn't have a fact three yet, but he has two facts and that is a great start, he thinks.
Riz has been thinking hard on how to solve his situation and what his mom would do. His mom is the greatest detective, after all. And one day, Riz is going to be just like her and work with her. His mom would want him to call their home number (which he has been able to recite by heart for a whole five months now!) but unfortunately, Riz hasn't been able to find a crystal at all. His mom would also want him to try and get out of the situation, he thinks. His dad always says he is the best at hiding, so he's sure he can do that. But before he does, shouldn't he gather some more information? That's what cops do, right? And his mom is going to need information to arrest the kidnappers.
So Riz has managed to scrounge up a notebook and pen somewhere (they are both very big in his hands) and has spent the last ten minutes furiously scribbling in it, drawing a picture of the hat kidnapper (who called himself Boober). But that is where Riz has run into some trouble. He knows his letters! He can spell his own name, and his dad's name, and his mom's name most of the time. He can even spell their last name, though he sometimes forgets one of the Ks.
Unfortunately, he does not know how to spell Boober.
Fortunately, there is a source of information right there -- the second kidnapper, the old one in the helmet. He won't suspect a thing.
So, Riz scurries up to where Mando is sitting on the couch, peering up at him from much further down than normal, ready with his pen and notebook. "How do you spell Boober?"
for Mando
