"If he's from an earlier time period, maybe he isn't as close to you now as he'll be later, when he goes back and those other events happen," Radley says. He hopes that, anyway. It's what he would hope if his friends came from an earlier point when they didn't know him as well and they wouldn't have gone through everything Radley remembers them going through.
