Video(ish)-- Ecruteak Inn, Birthday Bash!

[The moment the video clicked on, Angel let out a sigh. A small hand lifted, pinching the bridge of her nose, before lowering once more, settling onto the back of a new face-- a Glameow. Finally, she offered the device a thin smile.]

I had a plan to offer a sentimental message about growing older, but it seems I was preempted. [She laughed, but it came without humor.] What you heard was correct, today is my birthday.

[A pair of feelers announced the approach of 'Dora, the sylveon, who wrapped his appendages around her in a gesture of comfort.]

It also would appear that I've been here six months now. It's a lot to consider -- celebrating my first birthday on my own, six months after I broke free from my father. To be honest, it's the first time I've recognized it in almost a decade.

It's... a big deal.

[One final sigh, before a smile broke through. It was perhaps a little sad, but still genuine.]

My door will be open today, for anyone who might want to stop by. You can meet my new friend, Princess Smoosherella. [The cat mewled a greeting.] We can all get ice cream together!

Birthdays are precious things you don't really appreciate until you can't have one, I think.

Any idea how the distance is from around Azalea?

I guess I don't know what I'm missing. We never really... did anyhting back home. Maybe I got a gift and told to have a good one but... Well. That part doesn't matter.

What matters is what you want to matter, Angel.

All I mean is that today is supposed to be a happy day. I don't want to get caught up in more bad memories.

That's what I mean. It doesn't have to be about the previous year, it can be considered a fresh start for the next one. You can celebrate the potential of what's to come or whatever you want. If you want to think about the past and reflect on it today, too, that's your choice.

Anyway, seriously, about how far are you from Azalea?

Quite a ways, I'm afraid. Ecruteak is a considerable distance up from where you are. In fact I... think we're at exact opposite ends of the land.

Well, I guess a surprise visit is out of the question for now.

Well, we're moving at least.

I am certain that our paths will cross soon enough, Jill. And I look forward to that moment.

You're saying that now, but you don't know what belated birthday we've got in store for you. Might be avoiding us after that...

I was going to insist that no, I don't but... I... think I might, actually.

Figure there are worse hobbies to have than making friends with people who are older than you are.

Most of my friends back home are older than me. Even Chris is a year older than I am.

It is true. I could be scrapbooking, or stealing Pokemon. Something of that ilk.

I'll be sure to call Chris an old man as soon as I get the chance. ;)

I like that you put the two in the same leagues of terrible. Glad you're not a fan of scrapbooking, either.

Haven't heard him called that one before, but I get the feeling he'll guffaw. Might catch him off guard, too.

I've never done it before. Perhaps it would be enjoyable? Until then I will judge it, because that's what normal people do about hobbies they aren't involved in.

Might be. I'll admit I'm a bit sentimental so I like photos, but I think you've got the right attitude! Ha ha! ;)
