3rd Run // As blue as the sea [Backdated to Friday 17th]

[ The screen comes on to show a Lucario, who is checking that the camera is on. He nods and then sets it down, so it shows Ash lying on the bed of the Violet City inn. For once, isn't his usual upbeat self. He seems...very thoughtful and downbeat. An aura is surrounding him, deep blue and green in colour, which only adds to how solemn Ash appears compared to his usual, sunny self. He says something in Irish to the Lucario, before groaning when he notices the camera is on. ]

Danny, nach bhfuil...Look, I didn't want to make a big deal of it, okay? I'm fine. [ The Lucario shakes it's head and cuffs him. Ash groaned and waved back at him. ]

Fine, fine! We lost a Gym battle. No big deal, it's the first time we tried that shit. [ Danny gave him a look and went to cuff him again. Ash folded his arms, looking up at the ceiling. ]

...and it's St. Paddy's. So I'm a bit homesick. Alright? Cas ar an cheamara as. [ He rolled onto his side, facing away from the screen. Danny sighed and gestured at him, before picking up the camera and shutting it off. ]

[Well, looks like it was probably a good idea that he and Prompto decided to wait to try the gym.

He gives the other a sympathetic look, glancing at the Lucario then back to Ash.]

...What's St. Paddy's?

[ He's honestly surprised by the number of people he doesn't know responding to him basically having a sulk, and it shows in the curious yellow of his aura. ]

Ur, St. Patrick's Day. It's a holiday held special by Irish folk. Which me and my Dad are. [ ...okay he was raised in London all his life and had no idea what his biological parents were like, but he was raised by an irishman so he considered himself Irish by heritage ]

[This aura thing is still so weird. Noctis's own is mostly pink right now but there are hints of yellow if one looks close enough.]

I've never heard of that before...actually I've never heard of 'Irish Folk' either. I guess that's not really a thing where I'm from.

[But he tilts his head a bit, eyebrow lifting.]

Why's it so special? [A pause.] If you don't mind me asking.

You...don't have Ireland where you're from? [ What? That's crazy. Even people who confuse Ireland with Britain typically knew it was a thing ]

Why's St. Patrick's special? He introduced Christianity to Ireland. But it's special for my family cos it's sort of like, a holiday about Ireland and Irish culture. So we'd get together and sing songs and shit...

It's not. Really super special, but it was to me. [ Really, he's just missing his Dad moreso than St. Patrick's Day itself. ]

I've never heard of it, at least. And my teachers were all pretty adamant on making sure I knew my geography pretty well..

[Except you didn't pay a lot of attention most of the time, Noct.]

If it's important to you, I'd say that makes it pretty special. [A shrug.] We all have things like that. Your 'St. Patrick's Day' sounds pretty awesome to me.

Then your teachers sucked. [ Fuck you Noct's teachers, not even mentioning Ireland! ]

Nah like...the big deal was being with my Dad and my Aunt. And they aren't around so. [ He shrugs gloomily. Danny gives a short bark, squishing Ash's face. Ash flailed, trying to escape his Lucario's squishes. ] Oi!

[Despite the initial somber air about all this, Noct can't help but let out a snort-snicker mix.]

I'll have to ask my friend from home if he's ever heard of it. I'm really curious now.

[Noct starts to say more but is cut off by the Lucario's interruption and he's muffling another laugh into the back of his hand.]

Seems to me like your friend doesn't agree.

He better have, otherwise I'm gonna tell ya all about it. And Danny just- [ Danny took advantage of the distraction Noct's giving by talking to Ash to ruffle his hair. As if he could make it into a mess when his hair is always a mess. ]

Danny! Cut that shit out, man! [ But he's feeling a bit better - his aura isn't so dark and gloomy, brightening in shades. ]

...Okay, honestly, you've probably going to have to tell me anyway because I doubt Prompto knows any more than I do.

[They both were terrible in school. Absolutely terrible.

Noctis is laughing again, unable to help himself and it draws the attention of a certain Munchlax who pops up over the prince's shoulder, draping herself over it as she let's out a curious rumble.]

Bean, don't get any ideas, alright? [Noctis's own aura is brighter now too, shifting between colors less as he relaxes, glad to see the other young man perking up.]

Bean? Oh shit, who's that cutie pie? [ He grins at Bean. She's cute! Danny waves to her with a boof - before trying to wrestle with Ash playfully. Ash caught his paws, trying to hold him back. ]

Danny noooo! I have to go on about why Ireland's great and how his teachers are lame! [ Sorry Noct but Ash's Pokemon tend to do this all the time. ALWAYS WRESTLE YOUR TRAINER. Or sit on him. Which Danny is currently trying to do. ]

[Bean perked up as she was complimented, beaming at the 'gear as she lifted a paw in a wave.]

Muncha-munch!

She's the partner I had when I woke up. Best partner I could have asked for. [The Munchlax rumbled and nuzzled against Noctis, who reached up to rub at her ears as he grinned at the antics on the other end of the video feed.]

Seems like Danny's got other plans for you, buddy.

[ DANNY WINS. Sit-ality! ]

Damn, she's so cute! Way cuter than this fatass. [ Danny gave Ash the most offended look possble. How dare!! Ash laughed. ]

Danny's the one I started with too. But he was way smaller when I first got him. And not so spikey.

He's not that bad. Kind of handsome, in a Pokemon kind of way.

[Noctis can't shake his grin now and Bean just seems overly pleased at this entire situation.

This human is good in her book.]

Apparently Bean is going to be huge when she evolves. I'm not sure I'm ready for that.

Man, I wasn't expecting it when Danny evolved either. We were just goofing off one afternoon and suddenly he was away bigger than he used to be!

[ He gets comfy under Danny, since he's not moving anytime soon, pillowing his head with his hands and lying back. ]

Like, how big we talking? Bigger than Danny? She gonna be the Queen Bean? Man, I bet even then she'll still be cute. [ She was like a marshmallow from what Ash could see! And being big didn't mean you were disqualified from being cute. ]

Seems like a pretty normal way for it to happen. I've had some other people tell me similar stories. Considering how big Bean's suppose to get, I really hope she doesn't end up on top of me when it happens.

[He doesn't want to die, thank you.]

Six feet tall is what my 'gear said.

[Bean seems delighted with the nickname, a chuffling sort of laugh escaping her as she claps her paws together. Noctis grins, shaking his head.]

I'm never going to be able to call her Bean again. It's going to be Queen Bean or nothing now.

Six feet? Shit, I mean. Yeah, you gotta call her the queen if she gets that big! Give the girl a crown too!

[ He drops his voice to a conspiral whisper, grinning playfully ] Hey, if we get in her good books now, she won't sit on us when she is that big! Although... [ He looks over at Danny ] It's not a guarantee.

I'm not getting her--

[He's cut off by a rumble from Bean who manages to get a pawful of his hair and tug on it. The prince mock frowns a bit, side eyeing her then giving Ash a dry look.]

See what you've done?

[Bean chirps merrily, letting his hair go to snuggle on his shoulder again.]

Oh I'll make sure she sits on you guys now, just for this.

[ Ash laughed. Oh, he likes Bean and her trainer! ]

She won't sit on me if I give her a crown though! [ GET WRECKED SON. But Danny paps Ash's face to get his attention and points at his head. He wants a crown too! Ash couldn't help laughing again. ]

Okay, you get a crown too! Bean gets a crown! Everybody gets a crown! [ INCLUDING YOU! YOU GET A CROWN ]

[SO RUDE.]

You can't bribe my Pokemon!

[He's amused all the same, though, and he can't help but snicker as Danny demands a crown as well.]

Looks like we're all going to be royalty. [BETTER THAN BEES AT LEAST.]

Nah. You and me are the attendants to these two. [ Ash grinned. Danny sat up all proper-like at that, clearly putting on airs and giving a 'regal wave' to Bean, the little 'cirlce your hand at the wrist' gesture. ]

"Queen Bean and King Danny! Together we shall rule over Johto with fairness and diginity. And offerings of snacks." [ The Lucario decreed with a grand air, before giving a surprised 'boof!' as Ash finally rose up, grabbing Danny into a hug ]

Okay, good point. How can we compete with them?

[He definitely didn't mind. Someone else could be royalty; he wasn't going to complain about it.

Bean let out a chuffling sort of laugh at Danny's announcement, clapping her paws again as Noctis let out an amused snort.]

The best rulers Johto could ask for if you ask me.
