[Open to the inside of Shadowmaru's coastal cabin. The weather outside the big bay windows is a mix of rain and snow - which a Rockruff and Electrike are watching excitedly.]

[Shadowmaru himself is seated on a little sofa, in a nice fluffy robe, with his hair up, looking pensive.]

[... it's a very calculated pose, okay, he knows what he's doing.]

It's come to my attention that higher level pokemon may be advisable to have. Given how unpredictable things can be here.

However, I... must admit. The idea of seeking out random individuals to set my companions on feels - I'm not sure how I feel about it. So I have come to the network to see if anyone would like to do battle in the future.

If anyone would care to assist, I can compensate you for your time.

Oh look, these little guys don’t look too terrifying at a lot. I think that they are pretty cute for such a feisty new Pokémon species.

(Isabela is seen on the video feed as she takes a good look on a pack of strange looking plant like Pokémon with short stubby limbs and something resembling eggshells on their heads walking about terrorizing folks of Azalea Town by letting the spiciness on their leaves to get to them. Antonio the Ponyta’s whining can be hear as he stares at the ongoing chaos on the streets. How on earth is this even possible for these walking chili pepper plants to run around freely and giving people fits while Isabela has not fallen into their defense mechanisms besides being a major plant nerd? Yes, she is probably well aware of how much trouble chili peppers can be to people’s stomachs and eyes but she chooses not to disclose it just yet.

Meanwhile, the Slowpoke in Azalea are not harmed by any means by these new Pokémon and their older brethren, a group of big two headed walking chili peppers, at all. It appears that even these spicy peppers seem to respect this unspoken golden rule of not harming Slowpokes in this town. This woman is clearly too enamored by their appearance that she may not be aware of the dangers of being so close to them.)

I haven’t seen any of these guys before and, oh my goodness, aren’t they such lovely creatures. My PokéGear’s dex said that they are part Grass and part Fire type and may have roots in a region called Paldea. That’s also where Amanratha and Veria’s kin come from too. I also like to point out that Grass/Fire is not a common type combination from what I have noticed but I would love to see a pretty unique species for myself so badly that I can’t resist the opportunity to see this swarm in action today. Come to think of it, I might want to catch one of these feisty little guys for my team.

(Uh oh, Isabela please! This is a very ‘bad’ idea. Can somebody try to convince her to not catch a feisty chili pepper Pokémon in the middle of a very hot day? Spoiler alert: she is most likely going to ignore any advice or warning just to add in the grass Mon side of her team.)

[Backdated appropriately.]

Malva's warning to stay out of the tunnels was really unnecessary; at least to Keldor. He's sensible enough to know to stay out of danger, unlike some people who'll be ensuring that their friends drink for free tonight at the bar, due to all the beers being held.

No. If there's any amateur spelunking to be done, it's with a group of volunteers going about the city checking to make sure nobody—human or pokemon—has fallen in. And to round up the worms.

Being the largest out of the group, Keldor is given the task of being the guy to help hold onto the rope while others rappel themselves down to look for anyone foolish enough to fall in.

A Makuhita was one such rescuee. It's happy to be out of that hole.

It might even be someone's newest partner.

But just as the little yellow guy is helped out of its predicament, though, the Flamigo swarm arrives, and within seconds the group is beset by enough of these lawn ornaments to celebrate a fortieth birthday party [many happy returns?].

They're loud, they're obnoxiously pink and they're everywhere.

They need to be gone.

"I have an idea."

He reaches into his bag, grabs what he thinks is a berry, and throws something at one of them in hopes that it'll distract them.

In actuality it's a ball, and it bounces off the head of one of the knot-necked birds, and in an instant it's caught while Keldor makes "no I did not mean to" noises.

Wow.

Fantastic.

Just what he really wanted.

Can this day be over now?

I realize I have perhaps not been as attentive to this network as I once was, but am I mistaken, or has there recently been another shift in the pattern of comings and goings of those of us from other worlds?

That is, the way it was a decade ago aside, for some time it was typically a fairly slow but regular comings and goings, but recently it seemed there were more sudden bursts, so to speak. Of course, given that not everyone cares to use this network much at first and we know that some people find themselves in Team Rocket's base, it's hard to be certain, however...

Well, in the past, such irregularities have seemed to coincide with other occurrences, as often as not. It's just as likely to be nothing, but it wouldn't hurt to be prepared should it turn out something's afoot after all.

[The camera isn't pointing at anything in particular yet, but there is the sound of a squeaky toy being squeezed repeatedly in the background. A larger, louder one, considering how audible it is, and how long each squeak is. Squeak... squeak...]

So, I got some new toys for the Pokemon the other day.

[He starts turning the camera, eventually coming on the source of the squeaking: a ground-type Silphally [sic] who has what appears to be a rubber potion bottle, and seems to be highly enjoying himself squeaking said toy with his paw. Squeak... squeak...]

Shira's pretty much claimed that toy, there, and...

[One more squeak later, and the Silphally throws his head back and howls. A loud howl, sustained and joyful. It lasts for like ten seconds, possibly even longer. How does this pupper have the lungs for this, Ryner doesn't know.

And then, once the howl ends, Shira goes back to squeaking the toy with his paw. Squeak... squeak...]

Ahh, I think he likes it? And I'm glad he's actually paying attention to a toy for once, but...

[He's just never seen any of his mons play like this before. And he's been here a while.

(Squeak... squeak...)]

What’s this? There’s glitter in the air. What’s this? There’s dresses everywhere.

Oh right. It’s Prom time.

From the afternoon on, on Friday the 7th of April, your characters will all be arriving at Tohjo Falls via the transport arranged for by Lance. He did end up borrowing a few of those Corviknights from the JKBA, but there are also several of you who will find themselves flown to the Falls by one of Lance’s Dragonites or Charizards. Please give them a poffin if you are able, they are all very good boys and girls.

Your characters will be set down on a tiled driveway (more like flyway, Ha) in front of an impressive-looking villa. Those who have been here before might note that the villa has gotten a bit of a renovation and an update. Turns out that when Team Rocket kidnaps you and keeps you captive in your own home for several weeks while wrecking the house and digging Arceus knows how many basements beneath the house, you might be entitled to some compensation.

And from the looks of things, Lance and co used that compensation to turn their little vacation home back into something where they can relax in peace.

After you arrive, you’ll be greeted by Lance or one of the other Elite Four members, who will give you a quick run-down. You are free to explore the house and surrounding area at your leisure. Please respect their privacy and do not go into any of the locked rooms. You’ll find your accommodations behind the house, so feel free to head there and unpack. Oh, and, there will be a little announcement later, so if you could be in the dining room for that, that’d be stellar.

Well, off you go!

WELCOME (BACK) TO THE FALLS

[The 'gear view opens upon a vast expanse of those peculiarly textured magazines you can find in plastic stands on street corners, listing in vaguely blurry text various selling points of real estate. The view lifts, and you can see it's not so much a vast expanse as it is just a tabletop covered with them. Across the way from the person holding the 'gear is G'rhyf Kett, focused on a column of offers in one of the magazines, and the camera lingers for a moment on the image of their concentrated visage before they blink and look up, a bit bewildered before their nose crinkles and they chuckle.]

What're you doing, Raha?

[A sheepish laugh comes from behind the camera.] A thought occurred to me, is all - would you indulge me for a moment?

Just a moment?

Y-Yes, just a moment. [With a clearing of the throat, G'raha turns his 'gear around. He looks a bit tired, eyes reddish...well, besides his irises, I mean. It's likely he's been thumbing through real estate periodicals for hours to get that kind of look to him.] G'rhyf and I have been engaging in...well, I suppose it could be the closest thing to what adventurers like to call "Housing: Savage" - jovially of course - on our star. We thought, since we have both been designated as breeders, that it was only right we have a dedicated space for that - a sort of ranch, perhaps? Not the kind that's a one-level house in a neighborhood, but one with a field and some natural points of interest. Someplace where our Pokemon feel comfortable and at ease.

Yeah, now if only we could pick someplace...

Exactly, therein lies the problem - even with the scope of our search limited to two regions of this world, we simply cannot decide what area would be best. So...I thought, would we not benefit by asking the opinion of others who have been here longer? Who, say, might already have their own similar homes? Where would you elect to have such a ranch?

Let us know what you think!

Please do, I don't want to read the thousandth specification of a building only to find it's absolutely impossibly expensive - that and, this paper is incredibly shoddy. G'rhyf, your hands aren't covered in ink, are they?

Huh? I don't think so- [The video swings back to G'rhyf, who looks down at their hands and makes a face. Yes, there is indeed cheap ink rubbed off on them from the cheap paper.] Ewww...

[The feed cuts off to G'raha's laughter, and insistence that he's a mess too, it's fine!

...Neeeeeerds.]

[[OOC: G'raha and G'rhyf can and will respond to anyone who comments! You can direct your comments to either of them or both!]]

Well, I can't say I'm happy about this whole thing... But I guess the timing could've been worse. Although having a woman who's probably younger than me claim to be my mother, that kind of weirded me out. [A snicker with a bit of a snort to it, as the woman's tired annoyance gives way to begrudging fondness.] She'd have to be a lot more overbearing than that to compare...

I'll give this place some credit for the guidebook. 'Cause if a realm's gonna pull you into it, or whatever happened here, the least it can do is give you an instruction manual. But commanding the, uh, Pokey-mon we team up with feels a little weird, at least to me. I'd rather be fighting alongside them-- Although I guess without any of my magic now, that's not an option anyway. Ugh. Alright, Owl Lady, don't get caught up in that...

[After that muttered aside and a deep breath, she's sounding better - if not a bit strained.]

Might as well introduce myself. We're all weirdos to a realm we don't belong in here, right? I'm Eda Clawthorne. It's not my first time traveling like this, but it's definitely the only time I really had no say in it... And it's just the pits. What do you guys do around here to deal with all that?

It's not currently raining, but it's wet, muddy in places, and there's one of the infamous one-way ledges not far ahead. The camerawoman isn't in frame, but she speaks from behind the pokegear as a Klefki peeks around into the camera, briefly obscuring the shot:]

Jangle, get outta the way -

Ok, so, do we have any working theories as to what exactly went wrong in this world's history that they figured out teleportation machines before paved roads? This is getting old.

As promised in the mysterious invitation, on March the First, every breeder (and potential guests) interested in attending, will be met by a flying taxi -- not a standard UBIRD this time, but instead a stately fleet of Corviknights, each carrying a small carriage. There is no further explanation inside the carriages or by the silent drivers of each carriage (no matter how much your character might try!). Instead, all you can do is take a flight of fate.

-*-

The Corviknight taxis will carry your character to Kanto, to an area on the outskirts of Viridian City, where one can find several large and old mansions. Your characters will be brought to the garden of the largest of these mansions, where a small fleet of uniformed servants and their Indeedee are waiting to lead you inside to a large, ornate tea room.

Listen, some of your may have attended the prom hosted by Riegfried and Soy. If you did, then you'll have been surrounded by wealth once. The wealth on display here though is different; where Riegfried and Soy's wealth is new, almost playful, this is Old Wealth. Its stately mansions and hereditary titles and extremely fancy little finger sandwiches served on even fancier little plates.

Frankly, unless you are already used to this sort of thing, it's somewhat uncomfortable.

-*-

Waiting, as your characters are lead into the tea room and onto old, expensive chairs, is an old man and a young woman. A regal Nineties sits at his side, while an adorable little Alolan Vulpix rests on a silk pillow besides her. Both are dressed to the nines, though the man's clothing is far more stuffy than that of his companion. His expression too lacks her warm and open excitement; instead he regards everybody with a stiff expression that best can be described as 'Oh, must we?'. You get the sense that the only reason he is not rolling his eyes at all of this is because he was brought up better.

It's his female companion who takes command of the situation though, clapping her (finely gloved) hands together to call for everybody's attention.

"Welcome all. Thank you for responding to mine and my uncle's--"

( "My uncle and mine's, do speak properly, Honoria." comes the sotto voce interjection, though this Honoria cheerfully ignores it)

"-- invitation. I'm certain you are all familiar with our fine work--" At the undoubtedly confused faces, she looks a tiny bit crestfallen. "No? Oh heavens. Then please allow me to introduce ourselves! I'm Honoria Ameliá Hornsbury, and this is my uncle Reginald Archibald Hornsbury the Third. We are the present chairs of the Johtonian-Kantonian Breeders Association. The JKBA has a long history of uniting the best breeders in our combined regions under a single banner."

"Rightly so!" Reginald takes over, his hands folded on the head of his cane, and his expression can only be described as 'resting patronising'. "Ours are not common breeders. The pokemon produced by the JKBA are the finest and most skilled pokemon around. For generations we've strived to better ourselves and our pokemon; to create pedigrees any trainer could be proud to own! Not that I'm sure many of you here would understand the importance of such a thing."

Honoria swiftly cuts in again. "Uncle, you promised to be nice!" And then back to the crowd with a big, bright smile. "Yes, the JKBA has always strived to be a gathering of only the best of the best. Up until now, membership of the JKBA was not open to, ah, individuals like yourself. But I believe it is time for a change! And my uncle has agreed to agree with me. So, as of this moment, JKBA applications are open to you far-flung travellers from beyond the stars! On your tables, you'll find more information about our darling Association for you to peruse and consider." And yep, there it is -- fancy little booklets silently and swiftly supplied by the waiting staff. "I, for one, would certainly love to see you among our number."

[The video clicks on to show Ryou, except...he looks a lot more upset than he normally does, doesn't he?]

You know what? I'm tired of being pushed around and used as a perfect little 'landlord' by a spirit who was happy to see my friends comatose or dead. I'm tired of being blamed for what the Spirit did even though none of it was my fault. I just want a break, but I can't even get that here because I had a Carnivine chasing me everywhere I went and jumping me for a month!

[Behind him, a Hisuian Zoroark and a Chimecho can be seen. The Chimecho looks concerned and floats forward as if to interrupt, but the Zoroark just shakes her head no. Let Ryou vent, it's fine.]

The video feed opens to.. not Sion, actually, but rather a shot of the exterior of a building. Those who have been to or otherwise seen the Collegiate Gym will probably readily recognize it, though, and before anyone who doesn't wonders too Sion's voice can be heard.

"As co-leaders of the Aurora League's first and oldest gym, the Collegiate Gym, Ryner and I are pleased to announced that a new expansion is now open for us."

The camera proceeds to pan smoothly to the side, showing--sure enough--that definitely is a new, smaller building off to the side of the main one.

"The Physical Fitness Center features equipment and space for Pokémon and humans alike to train up outside of battling. Like the rest of the gym it is open to the public, with similar hours of operation. There are also several rooms that can facilitate group activities, should anyone wish to host classes that are rather more physical nature than a typical classroom allows for.

"As always, any questions can be directed to either Ryner or myself, or you can simply stop by the gym any time during regular hours."

The feed lingers on the brand new building a moment or so longer before turning off. Huh, that's a little odd that Sion never showed his face the entire time. Perhaps he's just excited about the new expansion?

((The Collegiate Gym has been upgraded! Information can be found on the gym page linked above, though this doesn't have any impact on badge requests, it's just that the school-themed gym got, well, a gym. Ryner may also respond to tags, please note if you specifically want to thread with Ryner!))

You know, I was under the impression that I'd taught my Pokémon to keep their word whenever possible. Yet it seems I was wrong, and now I've to deal with this thankfully small pile of eggs.

[The pile in question is, by any regular standards, enormous, but the years have long twisted Cecil's sense of scale when it comes to such matters. Still, Rosie the Clefable does look almost worried as she pats each egg in turn, and Cecil himself looks like he's battling a headache.]

If any of the available species catch your eye, feel free to buy an egg or two. Considering the circumstances and our... need to revise our agreement, I cannot promise they'll be available during our usual summer clutch, or even in the foreseeable future.

[Rosie turns away from the pile just long enough to shrug at the camera. Their trainer is a softy, there's no way he won't let them have their regular summer fun!]

What would be the appropriate gift or celebration for someone who has been released from jail?

It occurred to me to hunt down the individual responsible for this sheer defamation of character, but I was held back from the action.

[Probably because his boyfriends knew he would try to maul the Byleth look-alike that's actually wanted by the Jennies, but, that's besides the point.]

When I was broken out of jail, there was not much to celebrate, and this is apparently going to be in a more legitimate fashion, so I would appreciate advice.

[The video clicks on in Naeva's hotel room in Goldenrod, which is big enough for all her critters to be running about, if a bit cramped, so it's loud. But that's not important! What's important is Remy, who is wearing a scarf and a very dashing cape and gloves (actually, he is wearing two sets of gloves, and one of them can be seen peaking out from under the other), yipping at the top of his lungs and waving his little paws to fully display his finery. Naeva is allowing this for a few minutes before she picks up the gear.]

...He is very grateful for the gifts he was sent. Thank you very much.

[She smiles a bit, and ruffles between his ears, which makes him yip more in mock embarrassment. Mooooom they're on cameraaaa!]

I'm also grateful. Everything was quite kind....thank you very much. I had been thinking about what to do next, but I think for now, it's alright to just enjoy the warm wishes of others. Though, if it's not a subject that would be too indelicate...I'd love to hear about the people you love. The ones that bring you joy at home. This holiday seems to be about celebrating that kind of thing.

Oh, and... one more thing. [She pauses, and holds up the wrapper for the Impossible Burger.]

It tasted fine.
