During their travels Ed had found plenty of berries that he hoped would be enough to keep the ponyta satisfied - at least until he could talk to someone and figure out what else he was missing about caring for it. That is, before he could get it off his hands, of course. Maybe someone in the next town would take it. He had places to be, like not here. Being trapped in a new world wasn't exactly a foreign experience for him, but that didn't mean he wanted to repeat it any time soon. And yet, here he is. He'd taken the moment to stretch out for a bit, mindful of the fact that a wild pokemon could approach without any notice as he went back to the Gear that had been provided in his bag.
He had no idea where he was, or what he was doing here, but there had to be an explanation somewhere and he certainly wasn't getting it by sitting around all day.
"Nothing about this place makes sense..." He muttered, turning it on and working out how to send a message - to just about anyone at this point. He looked through the menu as he pointedly tried to ignore the music that there seemed to be no escaping. No matter how much of the information he went over, or how many times he read it, it just didn't add up. How did he get here, what was he doing here - and how was he supposed to get back to Al? He didn't have time to be training some other world's animals to fight with each other, and he certainly wasn't interested in winning any badges that held no significance to him whatsoever.
He spoke to some of the locals before heading out of town, and a few openly talked about "new arrivals" as if it was a common enough occurrence. Nothing surprising or unusual about people showing up from different worlds. That was no help. Or... it could be, if someone else from another world had an idea of how the coming and going worked. As far as he could tell, the Gear worked like a phone or a broadcast, so the first thing he did was set it to broadcast his message - in the hopes of reaching more people.
"Hey, does anyone know how to get the hell back out of this place? There's got to be someone that can hear me who's not from here, right? The locals act like it happens all the time. If people are always coming and going, there has to be a way to get out.
I can't stay here, I need to get back to my brother."
[Feel free to tag him with normal or 4th wall stuff - this is video btw, and I'll likely do brackets in tags but I match style either way!]

[Sorry, Ed, you're stuck. Just like the rest of them.]

Has anyone worked on finding a way out? I can't just sit around here doing nothing, if we got here there has to be some way to get back.
[Ignoring the fact that he's perfectly familiar with Gates to other worlds opening with the intent of being one-way.]
Considering some people have been here for upwards of six years, I'm willing to bet plenty of them tried but I don't think anyone's been successful.
[His expression turns thoughtful, perhaps even a slight bit apologetic.]
I know people do leave but there's no rhyme or reason to it.

[Nope. Nope, nope, nope. There was no way he was going to sit around this place for that long, not with all the sacrifice that went into bringing them back together. There's a slight panic in his expression, but he quickly brushes it away, eyes set in determination.]
If people are leaving there has to be a way. Just because no one else figured it out doesn't mean I won't.
[Oh so stubborn.]

I'd be happy to help. The more people looking into it, the better, and information gathering is a specialty of mine.
[Understatement.]
[He doesn't seem entirely skeptical, but that is certainly convenient.]
You're right, two heads are better than one. If someone else started the research our best bet would probably be to start where they left off.

I suppose it's possible though, couldn't hurt to at least start there.

[ Forgive him, he's obviously new. ]

[Where he's from, the natives aren't exactly friend to outsiders.]
