During their travels Ed had found plenty of berries that he hoped would be enough to keep the ponyta satisfied - at least until he could talk to someone and figure out what else he was missing about caring for it. That is, before he could get it off his hands, of course. Maybe someone in the next town would take it. He had places to be, like not here. Being trapped in a new world wasn't exactly a foreign experience for him, but that didn't mean he wanted to repeat it any time soon. And yet, here he is. He'd taken the moment to stretch out for a bit, mindful of the fact that a wild pokemon could approach without any notice as he went back to the Gear that had been provided in his bag.
He had no idea where he was, or what he was doing here, but there had to be an explanation somewhere and he certainly wasn't getting it by sitting around all day.
"Nothing about this place makes sense..." He muttered, turning it on and working out how to send a message - to just about anyone at this point. He looked through the menu as he pointedly tried to ignore the music that there seemed to be no escaping. No matter how much of the information he went over, or how many times he read it, it just didn't add up. How did he get here, what was he doing here - and how was he supposed to get back to Al? He didn't have time to be training some other world's animals to fight with each other, and he certainly wasn't interested in winning any badges that held no significance to him whatsoever.
He spoke to some of the locals before heading out of town, and a few openly talked about "new arrivals" as if it was a common enough occurrence. Nothing surprising or unusual about people showing up from different worlds. That was no help. Or... it could be, if someone else from another world had an idea of how the coming and going worked. As far as he could tell, the Gear worked like a phone or a broadcast, so the first thing he did was set it to broadcast his message - in the hopes of reaching more people.
"Hey, does anyone know how to get the hell back out of this place? There's got to be someone that can hear me who's not from here, right? The locals act like it happens all the time. If people are always coming and going, there has to be a way to get out.
I can't stay here, I need to get back to my brother."
[Feel free to tag him with normal or 4th wall stuff - this is video btw, and I'll likely do brackets in tags but I match style either way!]

Who wants some complicated SH stuff cos here it comes
Upon seeing the fire pony Walter audibly gasped and tried to edge closer, trying to avoid Ed while approaching the Ponyta. Fire was kind of a holy thing in the Order, so of course he wanted to get closer to a horse that was casually alight.
sorry for the late reply!
"Hey, kid! Watch it!"
But the ponyta itself didn't seem to mind the introduction, stepping closer and leaning forward to sniff at the boy, as if to distinguish whether or not he carried any food.
it's cool!
"I-I didn't touch her, I promise!" The little boy spoke from his Poke-huddle. "I didn't hurt her!"
no subject
"It's all right..." He offered, softer this time, still watching them almost warily as the ponyta nudged the boy's arm. "I just don't want you to get hurt."
no subject
Still now Walter was very hesitant, looking between Ed and the ponyta before reaching out and actually touching her nose. He pet her as gently as he could, using only his fingertips. "Is she from the Sun?"
no subject
"Maybe," He smiled again at that, doing his best to remain calming since this kid was so easily startled. He flipped the Gear on carefully, finding the information he'd picked up after scanning the ponyta earlier. "It doesn't say anything about that... They can jump really high and run pretty fast though." Ed figured Walter wasn't going to be too interested in the fact that their hooves were as hard as diamonds. "This is my first one, so I'm still learning... Haven't even come up with a name, yet." He definitely wasn't about to add that he didn't plan on sticking around, but if the kid was so attached already Ed might know exactly what to do with the animal if he did find a way out of this place.
[Sorry, Ed, you're stuck. Just like the rest of them.]
Has anyone worked on finding a way out? I can't just sit around here doing nothing, if we got here there has to be some way to get back.
[Ignoring the fact that he's perfectly familiar with Gates to other worlds opening with the intent of being one-way.]
Considering some people have been here for upwards of six years, I'm willing to bet plenty of them tried but I don't think anyone's been successful.
[His expression turns thoughtful, perhaps even a slight bit apologetic.]
I know people do leave but there's no rhyme or reason to it.
[Nope. Nope, nope, nope. There was no way he was going to sit around this place for that long, not with all the sacrifice that went into bringing them back together. There's a slight panic in his expression, but he quickly brushes it away, eyes set in determination.]
If people are leaving there has to be a way. Just because no one else figured it out doesn't mean I won't.
[Oh so stubborn.]
I'd be happy to help. The more people looking into it, the better, and information gathering is a specialty of mine.
[Understatement.]
[He doesn't seem entirely skeptical, but that is certainly convenient.]
You're right, two heads are better than one. If someone else started the research our best bet would probably be to start where they left off.

I suppose it's possible though, couldn't hurt to at least start there.

As in, she's squinting at Ed very curiously over the top of her glasses, ears--as in dog ears--pointed forward.]
Hiya, does your brother have a name or is he just "my brother" for this conversation?
no subject
Especially with him being focused on the Gear.
He looks up, eyes narrowing slightly at the form before him, but ignoring the dog ears - for now. It's not like he wasn't used to his fair share of animal anatomy from back home. He's trying not to look completely ruffled at the question, for Ed, at least. He didn't see the point in giving out his brother's name, it's not like he'd be here for anyone to recognize it anyway.]
Alphonse Elric, not that anyone in this world would know him.
[No, he's back in Germany. Which is all Ed is focused on at the moment. Al's not here, so he definitely doesn't want to be. They didn't come this far to be separated again.]
no subject
But at the same time don't because yes, admittedly, it is a little weird.]
Al? Oh, sure, I know him!
[As soon as Jade says it, though, she twists her mouth in a contemplative way.]
What I mean to say is, I really do know him. I am not being misleading for the purpose of tricking you, someone I do not know in the first place, though you do look a lot like Al himself. I suppose you are not as fond of cats as he is despite being brothers.
no subject
But how-?
[The last part makes him pause, it definitely sounded like she knew him. He wasn't sure what she'd gain out of lying about it, but pointing out that she clearly wasn't being misleading wasn't honestly helping her case.
If she was lying, there's only one way Ed could imagine she had any of those ideas - and it wouldn't be the first time someone was able to look into his mind without him even being able to tell.
Still, trap or not - a potential lead was still a lead he'd follow.]
Do you know where he is?
no subject
Not when you're Edward, but that's okay.]
He's a friend of my boyfriend, haha. He is also a fellow Pokemon Breeder, so we have that sort of union relationship going? Last I checked he was down the map near Goldenrod City, which is where a lot of people end up going since it is the biggest city in this region. I have no doubts he will contact you himself soon!
Say, what's your name, Al-bro? Mine's Jade, Jade Harley!
no subject
He would, if he knew I was here.
[Ed, you just made a public broadcast. Sorry, where he's from things aren't this convenient.]
Edward Elric, Ed's fine.
[Action]
[Either way, when Edward Elric pops up on his PokeGear screen? Wrath knows what to do.]
[Good thing for everybody* that traveling during these strange weekends gets super easy and fast!]
Edward Elric!
[Ed probably never wanted to hear that voice again. But here it is anyway.]
[An impressive snapping of branches occurs as Wrath, now in his full Homunculus glory, DESCENDS from above to land directly in front of Edward. His hair is full of leaves. He doesn't seem to care.]
I knew you'd show up here eventually.
[*It's not good, for anybody.]
no subject
Wrath.
[He did, finally, eventually, stop calling him Teacher's Kid. He also was very much aware that if Wrath was supposed to be dead he shouldn't be anywhere near any world Ed found himself inhabiting. Ed might also distinctly remember him losing two of those limbs he seems to still be in possession of.]
Where did you come from?
[It sure as hell wasn't the Gate, wherever it was. And what the hell did he mean he knew Ed would show up eventually? Not going to bother with that question, the homunculus looks to be very much on his own agenda, so Ed's doing a mental check of his defenses at the moment instead.]
no subject
[Wrath has two modes: constant Homunculus melodrama, and literal to a fault. Right now, he's apparently the latter one.]
Anyway, Mommy and I have been looking for you all day, so if you'll just sit there a moment, I'm gonna call her.
[And... and then he just, pulls a weird little contraption out of... seemingly thin air, and starts to hit buttons on it. He was... either being snide, or he genuinely does think that Edward will just stand there like a dope while Wrath calls up the horrifying result of his resurrection attempt and tells her where they are. It is genuinely hard to tell.]
video;
Brother! You're here!
[The face that comes up on the Gear is both familiar and different--the years Al has lived in Johto have taken away some of the babyface he'd had at '13', and his hair is looking a bit scruffier and slightly overgrown--but not long like he'd worn it before crossing across the Gate.]
Where are you, I'll come and get you in just a moment!
no subject
Al-!
[He's still trying to process all of this when he registers that his brother asked him a question. The changes in appearance since he last saw Alphonse don't go unnoticed, but in typical Ed fashion he's just going to shove that onto the back burner for later. Like when they're in person.]
We just left a place called New Bark Town. Where are you?
[More importantly why the hell are you here. By 'we' he means him and the ponyta that might be visible in the video shot.]
no subject
[Lord knows Ed would wind up wandering halfway across the region and wouldn't even realize it without Al there.]
no subject
We were just... training.
[Still not used to that concept.]
I'll wait here.
no subject
[True to Al's promise, Edward won't have long to wait before the sound of wingbeats might draw his attention upward. And if that doesn't, then the shout probably will.]
Brother!
[Swooping in with her trainer, a very plump looking Pidgeot spirals down to a landing in a clear area near Edward and his Ponyta. Al hops off the saddle strapped to her back like he goes flying around on over-large birds all the time, and runs to throw his arms around Edward.]
Jeez, it's been so long! It's great to see you again!
[action]
[It's coming from the sky? And getting closer? It's really loud, and high pitched. And loud. And louder every second.]
[Assuming Ed looks up to see where the death screech from hell is coming from, he'll look up directly towards the open, toothy maw of an Aerodactyl diving right towards him.]
[Guess who's on it's back, cackling madly along with the drawn out pterodactyl screech? Well he's not a dragon, and he's not dead, but boy that green hair whipping in the wind is unmistakable.]
[The Aerodactyl will pull up at the last second rather than actually crash into Ed, swooping back up into the sky like a rollercoaster and seeming ready to circle back around at any time. Carl wouldn't actually hurt a human, but man is the Terrifying Divebomb game a lot of fun!]
no subject
Someone very dead, last time he checked. Surely, this was hell.]
Envy-?!
[Seriously, again? We've done this already. On the plus side, he's not a dragon trying to eat him this time. Silver linings everywhere. Ed's too busy getting ready to duck from the next attack to process much else, but his ponyta is doing what it can to get between him and the flying pokemon - rearing up and kicking those front legs in the air in irritation.]
no subject
[This kicks up an extraordinary amount of dust from the road, but at least he's not swooping overhead. For now.]
Ha! Surprised to see me, pipsqueak?
[Pardon him his insults are. Out of date.]
no subject
The ponyta snorts a breath, like damn straight Carl, back off. He's still watching carefully as Ed tries to collect himself, shielding his face from the upswing of dust before it finally settles enough for him to respond.]
What do you want, Envy?
[Because, honestly? Why else would he be bothering him?]
