Eleventh Transmutation | [video] Home again, home again...?

[Hello, Johto. Here's a face that hasn't been around for a while! Al frowns and scratches his neck, looking more than a little awkward.]

Um, I know it might not be the best time with the whole 'natural disasters everywhere' thing going on, but...I just wanted to let anyone who remembers me know I'm apparently back to stay? At least for a little while.

[A long, awkward pause, before Al chuckles nervously.]

So, uh, what'd I miss?

At the very least, you've missed a visit to the moon, and also quite possibly the land going mad. Madder than usual. That would depend on when you were last in this world.

[A beat.]

...Welcome back, and may you not be trampled by an angry Donphan on your way out of town.

Oh, I came back in time for the moon party! That was quite a thing, ehe. Last I was here before that was, um...January, I think? It wasn't the same months after I went home, so It's kind of hard to remember.

[He can't help a small snort of laughter there.] Yeah, I heard about that! I'm trying to figure out how to calm the poor thing down, but Eddie's an electric type, so I'm at a bit of a disadvantage here...

Ah, I'm glad to hear that. It was such a wonderful gift to us, and the host was so delightful, that it would have been a shame to miss it.

[That beautiful fluffy kitty would have made any visit worth it.]

Do you happen to know where it is at the moment? My team and I are on our way, but with all those panicking Pokémon it's difficult to find it from up here.

Yeah! It was really nice, I'm glad I was able to be here for it.

[That cat is Al's new favorite legendary, let's be real here.]

It's about half-way down the route right now...I don't know the exact distance. If you see me and my Luxray we can guide you on foot, I'm trying to keep an eye on it for now.

About halfway, you say? We'll be able to see it soon, then. Expect an Altaria on your position within the next twenty minutes or so.

[Offscreen, the Altaria in question trills in agreement.]

Alright, we'll both be on the lookout!

[Al snaps a little salute, and a large black-and-blue nose shoves into screen with a low rumble.]

[Cecil smiles at the salute.]

Excellent. See you soon.

['Soon', in this case, means that approximately seventeen minutes later an Altaria descends from the sky and approaches Alphonse's position. Air support incoming!]

[Alphonse has been alternately watching the sky and keeping an eye on the nearby Donphan rampage, so he doesn't notice Cecil right away. But when he does he waves up at him and moves to give the Altaria plenty of room to land.]

Over here!!

[Mist appreciates all that free space, truly. She gives Alphonse a nod that manages to be both thankful and haughty as Cecil dismounts, smiling.]

Hello. I'm glad to see you are still safe. The target is close by, I assume?

[Al nods back to Mist with a kind smile, though Eddie lets out a low rumble at her haughty air. Dragon-types, honestly.]

Yeah! I'd say I can lead you, but the noise is enough indicator from here, honestly--

[There's a sudden large crashing sound amidst the distressed roaring, and Al flinches with a grimace.]

Ehe...you see what I mean?

[Cecil winces, both at the noise and at the audible distress present in it. They have to end this, as soon as possible. He takes out one of his pokéballs.]

It'll be difficult to miss, I'm sure. There might be a way to stop its rampage quickly and painlessly, but we'll have to approach it from behind. Will that work for you?

[Alphonse nods with a quick glance to Eddie, both of them ready to go.]

Fine by me. We can't really take it head on on our own right now.

Mist could do so and win easily enough, if necessary, but that'd make it angrier after recovering. It'd take that anger out on others, and we'd need to defeat it once more.

[He starts walking towards the ruckus, unflinching determination in his eyes.]

Therefore, we'll have to soothe its anger and fear. Preferably not while it attacks us.

[Alphonse nods, following just a few paces behind Cecil.]

[As they get closer to the center of all the noise and commotion, the Donphan comes into view barreling up towards the nearby ledges that line the border between Routes 29 and 45. The Rollout attack it's using is mighty, and even gets the distressed parent halfway up the steep incline, but they slide right back down and let out a bellow of frustration and fear.]

[Hearing those distressed cries was one thing, but seeing its source is another. It only takes a second before Cecil decides that the local Pokémon are not the only ones they must help.

He drops his pokéball, revealing Rosie the Clefable. She looks at their gathered group and nods a greeting.]

Rosie knows Sing. If we can lull the Donphan to sleep, we'll be able to move it up the ledge painlessly. Ready?

[Alphonse gives a firm nod, and his Luxray shifts on his paws, ready to spring into movement.]

Ready.

[The Donphan rears up again, and charges the ledgeside hard enough to set the ground all around trembling for a few moments.]

[This is as good an opportunity as any. Rosie opens her mouth, takes a deep breath, and starts singing.

It's a pretty enough song, certainly. Not the sort that would sell records or bring anyone fame, but soothing and pleasant to hear. Then Mist joins in from a distance, and it becomes... stronger. Heavier, somehow.]

[Al is quick to plug his ears, and Eddie growls and shakes his head vigorously to help stay awake.]

[The Donphan hears the song and lets out a confused-sounding trumpet, looking around for the source. It's working quickly, though, and once Mist joins in it's already stumbling. Fear and panic lend it just enough strength to attempt one last charge, this time at the group, but half-way there it's stumbling steps come to a halt, and the poor thing falls over fast asleep.]

[It might seem asleep already, but the song continues for a few moments more, to be safe. Once Rosie and Mist are satisfied with the results, the last note dies out and Cecil takes a few steps forward.]

The poor thing. It seemed besides itself with fear and worry.

[Al waits a few moments longer before unplugging his ears, and Eddie trots forward with Cecil to sniff cautiously at the sleeping Pokemon.]

It really was. When it wasn't charging the cliff it was driving off any Pokemon that got close. I bet you anything it's got a nest up on that route. [He can't help a small sigh, but...well, hopefully the problem will be solved soon.] Do we need to get it onto your Altaria's back, or can she carry it on her own?

[Cecil looks at Mist. Mist looks at Cecil. They both turn to look at the sleeping Donphan.]

She can deal with both options, but we might need a rope or two. Either to tie it to her back, or to get a proper grip. Having it fall off in the middle of the trip is not something I wish to risk.

[Al frowns and thinks for a moment, then pulls off his backpack to start digging in it.]

I think I remember seeing some rope in here...hah!

[And out he pulls...an Escape Rope? It's...it's probably long enough...]

[Mist nods in approval. That should work! ...Unless it somehow activates while she's flying...

Cecil's thoughts are much the same, but it's not as if they have many options. Therefore, he refrains from mentioning the worst possible outcome.]

It'll do. Now, we only need to lift it slightly and slip the rope underneath its body...

[He and Rosie start the lifting, with minimal difficulty. Who would that have thought all those years of wearing heavy armor would serve for something like this?]

[Any port in a storm, right? Maybe if they had a grass-type with Vine Whip, but...]

Right!

[Al works quickly, getting the rope looped beneath, and then working with Cecil for what's needed, a makeshift harness to carry the sleeping Donphan up the ledge is quickly rigged together.]

...okay, looks like it'll hold.

Of course it will. It has to. Mist, if you'd be so kind...?

[The bird nods, grabs the rope, and starts flying up. The Donphan swings in a manner that would surely be unpleasant if it was awake, but at least the harness works as intended.]
