[The feed opens on... a cat. A pink cat, stretched out over a shoulder bag, her tongue just barely peeking out, cream belly in the air, and front legs facing in opposite directions of the back.

Hey, he figures it would grab his attention, so why shouldn't it work on everyone else? Because there's such a history of everyone agreeing with him.

Only after the Skitty yawns and turns over, away from the camera, does he rotate it around in his hands and peer down at it, himself. He's pretty sure at this point that no templars followed him, but that remains to be seen.]

Meeting this little furry friend is only just worth losing everything else in my life. [Well, almost everything.] Even I must admit cats are more important than magic.

[Subtle enough, but he's interested in hearing how many other people come from worlds with planes similar to the Fade.]

No. But I've seen them before. I'm still learning the names of everything in this place.

Have you been given the whole introduction spiel about this place already?

[That makes him feel a little better. Granted, he's brand new, but this is a lot to take in.]

I've gathered a general idea of what this place is on my own, but I suppose I haven't been directly instructed.

[Oh Anders, you have no idea. Cloud had to backtrack to make up for the stuff he didn't do because he didn't take the time to properly learn about it.]

Is there anything in specific you want to know? I can try and answer as best as I can.

I suppose I'm just... not quite clear on what we're meant to do here.

I keep hearing things about "training" these creatures. What exactly are they training for? Sniffing out illicit substances? Saving kittens from burning buildings? Is there a war to be fought with battle-ready beasts?

Not..exactly. There are gyms in various cities that you can fight in. If you beat the leader, you earn the badge for that gym. The more badges you get, the more special moves you're able to get to teach to your Pokemon and you can work towards fighting the Elite Four.

[purramedic]

So... you pit them in cockfights in order to make them stronger to win more difficult cockfights?

"Elite four" whats?

Pretty much.

The Elite Four. Four people that are the best of the best when it comes to training and battling Pokemon.

[purramedic]

That sounds awful. My Pinsy is never getting involved in this nonsense.

I see. And they are... revered?

It may not even be something you have to bother with if you're a breeder. Then your main focus can just be making more Pokemon.

[Like him.]

I guess. I don't really know much about them.

Hm... I believe I have a book on animal husbandry in my pack, though I haven't yet sat down to read it. Can anyone choose one path over another?

Sounds like you're a breeder. I don't know if it's possible to switch your job class, or whatever it is.

[His eyes narrow in serious thought for a moment, before the look is replaced with a sarcastic smile.]

Suppose it wouldn't hurt to be covered in kittens.

Are you a breeder as well, then? You seem to know your way around all this. [For the most part. As far as a total newbie is concerned.]

I am, yeah. I haven't really done much breeding yet. I've been rescuing more injured Pokemon than anything else.

[purramedic]

That is a noble cause. Where do you rescue them? And from what?

[notachocobo]

Along the road. I've found a couple of injured ones. One was too small to be on it's own. Things like that.

[purramedic]

Do you release them back into the wild once they've recovered? Or do they stay with you?

[Anders might be a little bit inspired right now. His magic may be gone, but his healing abilities didn't come exclusively from the Fade, and animals certainly seem more likely to be injured here than people.]

So far they've all stayed with me. If any of them ever want to leave, though, I won't stop them. I've been trying not to make them stay in their pokeballs either if I can help it.

[Dipper inspired him a bit on that front.]

I was unaware that they are meant to. Pinsy was out and about when I met her, and my, ah, companion's Dog hasn't been back in his since he was released.

How exactly do they fit an animal in such a small space?

[notachocobo]

It's apparently how you're suppose to keep them and train them. I kind of prefer to have them out as much as I can, though. I just wish there wasn't a limit on how many you could have out at once.

...That I don't know.

Those "battle regulations" or whatnot, I assume? Would that you could simply opt out if you have no interest in any of that.

I suppose it could just be more of the magic they like to hoard for themselves.

I think so? Everyone I ask just says that's how it's always been. And if you can opt out, I'm not sure. It's part of why I wouldn't mind finding a place to buy. Then I could let them all out whenever I wanted.
