001 : Day One, Can I Go Home Now? (video)

[Your video suddenly clicks on. Someone's already started their journey and hadn't bothered coming online yet, and only was on accident. There was a scene unfolding before you, a girl with thick glasses and really pale skin sat by the base of a tree and had a book in her hands. She appeared to be barely attentive to a stranger in from of her. The stranger was obviously a trainer, but the girl was in no rush to get up and engage. She obviously wasn't holding the camera, something else was.

The scene would go as follows:]

"Come on...just ONE go? We both got one Pokemon, I only see one ball!"

"Your eyesight does indeed work. But I told you, I'm not interested."

"But this is where trainers hang out! Why come where trainers go if you're not battling?"

"This is a good spot, no one said non trainers weren't allowed. But if you look just around the corner, I bet you'll find thousands. So why bother with me?"

"Don't you want to have your Pokemon DO stuff?"

"Fitzgerald is just fine. You're seriously barking up the wrong tree, I'm not making him fight if he doesn't want to."

"Aaaaaabraaaaaa..."

"Look, we'll double the wager. I really want to see what my Haunter could do!"

"Your Haunter."

"Yeah!"

"Haunter is a Ghost type."

"...Yeah?"

"So...Riddle me this, why bug me to battle your Haunter with my Abra? A Psychic type. Putting up a good wager on top of it."

"...Uh."

"So I take the bait with a high chance of you winning this glorified cock fight, and taking away money. You win, I lose. That's what I call glory."

[The trainer then turns around, very quickly. The girl then gets up, exasperated. She placed her book in her backpack before motioning over to what had the camera the entire time. Expressionless, and appearing apathetic, she dusted off her black skirt.]

"Let's get out of here, Fitzgerald. Before other trainers attempt at being smart. I'm feeling a bit too claustrophobic."

"Aaaabbraaaaaaaa."

[ She's sort of cute... but Prompto is still trying to. Cope with new world okay. But he's giving a little frown to himself. ]

Wonder if there's anywhere for people who don't wanna be trainers in this place.

[Meanwhile, Daria has internalized all if not most of this situation. Making various notes to herself just how stupid and ludicrous it all was. Not that she was in the mood to share those kinds of feelings with random people. She just found herself dissociating in such a situation. Trying to figure things out for herself and keep her distance as she got her footing.

Didn't mean she was patient with locals.

So when she noticed her Abra had her camera, she noticed a person. Uh-oh. She was live. Great. Conversation.]

I'd want to guess that it's the train back home.

[ Wow. That is an unsettling amount of apathy. She reminds Jinx of someone...]

I mean...that's one way to handle conflict resolution.

Not how most people handle it but you can't argue with results.

[...It was a sarcastic crack she made, she hadn't intended on it be taken seriously. Though, to be fair to this guy, not everyone who met her understood her sarcasm right off the bat. Especially since the dude was fumbling around like he genuinely had a hard time dealing with it.]

[ He's trying his best to hide his nerves - they're still nice and visible, though, from the shakycam. ]

None of that is visible, as he's managed to stop the nerves showing. Even if he's now rambling a bit. ]

And they don't even have any transport! I mean, I was getting ready for a camping trip, [ well it's the best he wants to explain it right now ] but not everybody is!

[There's a soft, almost lyrical little giggle coming from the purple-haired girl who answers this post. She's sitting down in a little cafe somewhere, a cup of tea in front of her, while the Aipom on her shoulder claps approvingly at the shutdown.]

[He...he looked genuinely nervous. Was he trying to talk at her level or make her feel better?

Maybe she should go a little easier on this one, she decided. He was kind of nerdy but...not a jerk.]

Nothing we can really do about it now. Hence my own meandering to try to figure things out. At least there's camping for us.

[That enthusiasm was well noted. It was just harder to deal with chipper people, even if they aren't rude to her for not being so. So there would be more genuine social awkwardness here.]

Well, other than teleporting out of convenience or inconvenience; he takes the longest naps I have ever seen a living thing take.

All that not battling has made my schedule free for reading.

Like a psychic koala? [ That's awesome and pretty damn cute. Danny, Ash's Riolu, jumps up to stand on Ash's shoulders, holding onto his hair so he can see Daria and Fitzgerald. ]

HMM! WELL, OF COURSE, YOU SHOULD NEVER FORCE A MONSTER TO FIGHT THAT DOESN'T WISH TO! HOWEVER! THERE ARE AN UNTOLD NUMBER OF DANGERS IN THE WORLD! TRAPS, BOSS FIGHTS, AND FACE PUNCHES! A MONSTER UNABLE TO PROPERLY PROTECT HIS OR HER HUMAN FRIENDS WOULD SURELY DEVELOP A GUILT COMPLEX!
