[Papyrus leaves the gear to record, and engages Calibri in sparring. The pokemon seems quite into it, despite it's shy introduction, and is quite happy to try hitting his master. Papyrus dodges or blocks Calibri's punches and kicks until-!!! He gets nailed right on the nose! He's knocked off balance, and Calibri hops back, a bit surprised that he managed to land a hit. He can't focus on that long, because he begins to glow...and grow! Within seconds, there's a proud Monferno standing in his place!]

Y-YES! YOU DID IT!!!!! [Big hugs all around!] NEVER BEFORE HAVE I BEEN MORE PROUD TO BE PUNCHED IN THE FACE!!!!!

[He doesn't notice the nosebleed he's got. Maybe you should let him know? Or congratulate Calibri? Either way, there's plenty of merriment to go around!]

[That was literally the last reason he'd been holding out on moving on. But his expression doesn't falter when he says it. So that's a good sign.]

[Your video suddenly clicks on. Someone's already started their journey and hadn't bothered coming online yet, and only was on accident. There was a scene unfolding before you, a girl with thick glasses and really pale skin sat by the base of a tree and had a book in her hands. She appeared to be barely attentive to a stranger in from of her. The stranger was obviously a trainer, but the girl was in no rush to get up and engage. She obviously wasn't holding the camera, something else was.

The scene would go as follows:]

"Come on...just ONE go? We both got one Pokemon, I only see one ball!"

"Your eyesight does indeed work. But I told you, I'm not interested."

"But this is where trainers hang out! Why come where trainers go if you're not battling?"

"This is a good spot, no one said non trainers weren't allowed. But if you look just around the corner, I bet you'll find thousands. So why bother with me?"

"Don't you want to have your Pokemon DO stuff?"

"Fitzgerald is just fine. You're seriously barking up the wrong tree, I'm not making him fight if he doesn't want to."

"Aaaaaabraaaaaa..."

"Look, we'll double the wager. I really want to see what my Haunter could do!"

"Your Haunter."

"Yeah!"

"Haunter is a Ghost type."

"...Yeah?"

"So...Riddle me this, why bug me to battle your Haunter with my Abra? A Psychic type. Putting up a good wager on top of it."

"...Uh."

"So I take the bait with a high chance of you winning this glorified cock fight, and taking away money. You win, I lose. That's what I call glory."

[The trainer then turns around, very quickly. The girl then gets up, exasperated. She placed her book in her backpack before motioning over to what had the camera the entire time. Expressionless, and appearing apathetic, she dusted off her black skirt.]

"Let's get out of here, Fitzgerald. Before other trainers attempt at being smart. I'm feeling a bit too claustrophobic."

"Aaaabbraaaaaaaa."

[And so, after a bit of fussing and things with Noctis, Prompto is holding the camera for Noctis and him. Beaming, he’s letting his friend talk first.]

..Right. So..where are we?

[Very specific. And an outright terrible introduction. But really it’s the best place to start as he just gives the camera a frown, one hand on his hip while he rubs the back of his neck with the other hand.]

And what are these things? [Cue him motioning to both the Munchlax and Null.] "Pokemon" isn’t..really telling me much.

[After a pause, though, Prompto shakes his head, looking around a little - adjusting the camera more, making sure it keeps focused. True, it didn’t tell them much. Except that they weren’t dangerous. (Which he’d already expected from his starter.)]

Waking up like this... man, it’s like we’re in a video game! So... if you were in my shoes, what advice would you give? I mean, Noct’s got most of the big questions out of the way.

[Which isn’t saying much considering his questions were ones that could be answered by, you know, opening his pokegear. But this is Noctis we’re talking about.]

Also. Has anyone met someone named Ignis? Or Gladiolus? They're friends of our but I haven't seen any sign of them. I..assumed they'd be here, since we are.

To whom it may concern,

This is an invitation to a casual Hanukkah celebration to be held tonight at the Skellington House in north Goldenrod. Food will be provided, though if you wish to bring some to share I'm certain that no one will object.

No RSVP necessary. Anyone who would like to is welcome to stop by*. In strange times and places it pays to be able to find common ground in what little may be familiar.

B. Action

[The mansion is hard to miss, partially because it's awfully large and partially because beneath the Christmas decorations the Halloween ones still appear to be up. Add the menorah in the window and the combined light the place gives off is probably visible from space.

As promised there is food: it's not a proper sit-down dinner, considering he figures people will keep trickling in as they have the time, but there are latkes and sufganiyot (he may have asked for Mabel's help with those) along with more Johto-appropriate foods and some things that fall squarely in-between. There are also driedels available, with markings that appear to be painted on in glitter, for people who would like to play or at the very least learn how.

It ought to be a nice night.]

[Yo, when was the last time someone told you Goldenrod City was great?!

Recently? Pssh, too bad! Because the network is being gifted with Mettaton's beautiful face right now, and boy does he ever look excited!]

Greetings from Goldenrod, my beauties!! Notice anything different about me~?

[As soon as he asks this, he makes a gesture at his face. How very subtle, but at least it isn't outright pointing. Not that he has to, because right above his left eyebrow is a fancy new horizontal barbell piercing!

In addition, he seems to have gotten a portion of his bangs dyed deep pink. It's only a stripe from the inside, contrasting with his new piercing.]

Lovely, isn't it~? But of course I wouldn't be showing off such minor changes to my already fabulous appearance without also showing of something a little more daring!!!

[Mettaton then sticks his tongue out, revealing a tongue piercing. Seriously, you can find anyone in Goldenrod to do something for you, can't you?]

Anyway, what do you all think? I value all opinions!! Though let's be honest, we all know I look good, right~?

[Today's video is focused on a Blaziken - the tall bird is reclining peacefully on the ground not too far from what seems to be a road, head propped on one hand-like claw, and very patiently tolerating a small yellow Charmander using it as a living climbing structure.

The Blaziken only moves when the Charmander starts to wobble, reaching out to steady it with its free claw.

The touching scene is sadly interrupted when the guy behind the camera speaks up, his voice a grumbling yet concerned growl:]

Yo, that's because we're part of the dope Team Skull! You scared yet? [They attempt to shove Papyrus, but he takes a step back regardless. Unfortunately, he's up against a wall.]

[It's Krieg Time again - this video brought to you directly by the man himself, rather than his Combusken. The video shows his masked face and not much else, visible eye narrowed thoughtfully.

He's just in need of a few quick opinions, today.]

Mnh...Which mask should I wear to the Bloody Harvest?

[Her jerks his chin upward briefly and raps a knuckle against the mask covering his face to indicate which one he means (as if it isn't obvious)]

Or this one?

[The video shakes a bit as he holds up the gift he received from Athena and places it atop the mask he's already wearing. It's flesh-colored, looks like it's made out of some kind of thin silicon, and a little battered around the edges. At one time it had two eyes, but there's now a somewhat jagged hole where the left one had been which allows Krieg to see through. The synth-skin's features are kind of mushy and blurry pressed against the Psycho mask.

Basically it looks uncannily like he's wearing someone's face on top of his mask.

Help a guy out, y/n?]

[When the video feed first starts, it seems like it is filming nothing at all. Just a forest clearing a little after dark. Might this be an accidental recording of some sorts? Ah, no! It does seem to be focusing on something. To be exact, it seems to be focusing on an odd little pokemon, shyly poking it's... head? out of one of the bushes, before scurrying forward to start eating from a small pile of pokemon food left there.]

[Armin doesn't pop into view, and his voice is soft, just above a whisper. It looks like he doesn't want to scare the shy little creature.]

Could anyone tell me what pokemon this is? I think my gear might be malfunctioning. [He hopes it isn't though, he wouldn't know how to fix it.] I won't show me any information when I try to scan it. I've not seen one of these on this route before. Is it a rare type?

[Asgore is outside somewhere, beaming at the camera. He's a large man, but he's currently dwarfed by the giant, roaring sea serpent at his side.]

Look! Splash has finally evolved! [He pats the Gyarados's neck, apparently not put off by the roaring.] I admit I was hesitant about this "battling" sport at first, but she seems very happy. And she has even made a new friend!

[Said "new friend" is the reason for the roaring. A Ditto is sitting near Splash. As the camera turns to it, it slowly winks one of its weird eyes and wiggles its hips. Splash roars at it. What a meaningful conversation!]

I believe they shall be coming with us. They are very talented - they transformed into several different Pokemon earlier. Is that a common talent?

So apparently I've been misled to think that the natural progression of a Goomy's evolutionary line would be into something more...snail like. Suited to my tastes, as it were!!

...How does one acquire a dragon from a snail? What kind of nature do you have around here?!?

[It's soon clear that the purple backdrop is not a backdrop at all, it's his Pokémon companion. Imagine that, he has a Goodra.

HE DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR THIS SHIT.]

Honestly, what am I to do with Silky now?! He's not what I expected, and I have never needed to care for such an enormous crea--erm. Friend!

[For a moment it seems as if Mettaton will remain displeased by this turn of events, but as soon as his new Goodra draws in close and pushes its face against his cheek, he lets out a sigh and a relenting smile, reaching up to pat Silky on the cheek. Sure, there's goo everywhere, but he doesn't seem to mind.]

...I guess I'll make do. He sure packs a punch, after all! But seriously now--do all Pokémon do this? All my other sweet darlings have just gotten bigger, maybe a bit flashier. This is quite the shift!!

Howdy, everyone! I have a question about this fish.

[The camera turns to a Magikarp flopping on the grass, slowly making its way towards Asgore. It seems like a totally normal one. But somehow, it makes the usual vacant Magikarp stare look...angry.]

They accidentally splashed themself out of the lake as I was passing, so I put them back in. But now they have done it three times. They seem to be able to survive on land, but that cannot possibly be comfortable...are they alright?

Oh! I am about to travel through a cave as well - Union Cave. Is it a long journey?

[ The video starts by zooming on a cute little Pokemon, who cocks her head curiously to the side. Yup, the first Pokemon Rhys has ever caught by himself is a Mareep. The video pans over to focus on himself and, to be honest, he looks pretty goddamn smug. Off to the side, you might see a overweight Meowth with a collar sprawled on the ground, too tuckered to even look at the camera. ]

So, I want you all to meet the newest member of Group Rhys. [ He moves the camera back down, where the Mareep is lying comfortably in the grass, nice and proper compared to that dang Meowth. Despite being just caught and all, she looks pretty happy! ]

I'm just trying to think of nicknames. I'm kinda feelin' Gortys, to be honest. She's...peppy. [ Rhys smiles more genuinely to the camera- it's obvious to him and a few others, this might ring a bell! ] But I'm also thinking about maybe something that hits a little...less close to home. Maybe. I don't know. I'm open to ideas.

[ The camera pans to the fat Meowth who is sprawled in the grass. ] Does anyone have any good exercise routines for Pokemon? [ As if it knows Money Shot raises his head and gives Rhys a glare. ] No offense, buddy.
