[The scene opens on the lobby of the Goldenrod Pokemon Center: Ford's current place of employment, though that my change soon. He's not actually working today, but he figured a place everyone knows how to get to would be a good place to film this particular post for reasons that are about to become very evident.

Behind him on one of the couches is a clutch of Pokemon eggs, seven in total. Perched on the arm of said couch is Claudia the Crobat, looking incredibly pleased with herself. Mirkwood the Decidueye meanwhile is carefully arranging and re-arranging the eggs, setting them upright and brushing away imagined flecks of dust. They have to look Presentable, alright?]

Hello, all! There has been a marked uptick in posts of this nature and here I am to add another. As you can see, my first attempt at Pokemon breeding has been wildly successful. I have seven eggs here, free to a good home. The only catch is that as far as I can tell, there is no way to be sure whether the Pokemon inside is a Zubat or a Rowlet. If anything I think it should provide a certain amount of excitement, not knowing what you'll get!

[Yeah, Ford, you spin that risk positively. He has to channel his brother a little to do it but hey, there's no better role model when it comes to selling risky deals than Stanley Pines. It helps that he's not asking for money, but he's doing just fine in terms of his finances. If he does eventually set up a more refined breeding operation he may start charging.]

On another note, while I have spent a good long while sedentary in Goldenrod I am planning to venture up in the direction of the Ice Path and will be leaving Goldenrod in the next few days. As of yet I have no traveling party, but if anyone is interested in forming one I would be open to considering it. I plan to journey through to Blackthorn, so if you are after the Rising Badge that may be of interest to you. I would also be open to making a detour to Olivine first just in the interest of picking up all of the northern badges and squaring that business away.

Hey dude! [ IT'S KICKASS GRANDPA! Ash is out camping, judging by the woods all around him and there there's a warm fire lighting up his features. He's just started on his own little trip to Goldenrod. ] Oh man, are those two the parents? I've been meaning to ask you a ton of questions about your Robin Hood-owl but I mean. Last time wasn't a good time to really sit down and talk Pokemon, was it?

Oh and you got a bat-Pokemon too! I got one but she's different to yours.

[OH HEY it's that good punchboy.]

Oh? There are a fairly wide variety of Pokemon that resemble bats, in my experience, so that doesn't surprise me. Is it a Woobat? Perhaps a Noibat?

As for questions about my Decidueye, I am by no means an expert but I've been observing him since he hatched, so I'd say there's a high probability I'll know the answer to any question you might have.

Noibat! I named her Carmilla. [ At the call, said bat appears! She flutters down and Ash offers his arm to her, which she accepts and hangs upside down from, checking out the camera. ] And here she is. You wanted to check out the other bat? [ Carmilla flicked at ear at Ash and continued to watch the screen. How spooky. ]

Oh, they're a Decidueye? Cool! I've never seen a Pokemon like him before. He's fully evolved, right? He seems too...I dunno, mature-looking? To be evolve into anything else. Whereabouts did you find him?

[Huh, this guy is right. There's been a lot of people mentioning eggs in the last week or so, and it is spring as far as Sasha can tell. And if this hunter girl knows anything about animals, she wonders if she can apply what she knows about animals to Pokemon.]

Is it mating season for Pokemon?

[Sasha, you can't just ask if it's boomboom in the roomroom time for Pokemon!]

It may very well be! Considering we're right on the edge of spring. That may not be universal to all Pokemon, however -- perhaps ice types prefer to breed during the winter, as those climates are better-suited to their young. It would be something to look into.

[Oh goodness. At least this gentleman didn't blink at her blunt question.]

Well, what kind of Pokemon are in those eggs? It's not winter, so they aren't ice, right?

Blackthorn holds the Dragons' Den, correct? A place dedicated to such creatures - I've no interest. But as for your eggs - are those two beasts the parents?

[ ...his tone indicates more of a H O W then anything.]

[Ford hears and correctly interprets that disbelief. He'll ignore the slight to dragons: dragons are kind of dicks, even if they are awesome. He gets it.]

Well! Pokemon breeding is not restricted by species, but rather by egg group. It's like a larger category that many different Pokemon can fall into. Crobat and Decidueye both fall under the Flying egg group, and so are compatible as partners.

How very curious - but I can see them both as cloudkin... to think, these creatures are just this splendid! I'd think of creatures such as this causing mules - not being together as one, creating children such as this!

[ In other words, he's interested in this whole breeding thing. ] A pause, before: Yes. I think I'll take one of those eggs, if you please? I mind not which one comes out of it - for is that not part of the fun?

[ From behind him, there's a soft gloop sound. It's his Goomy. ]

[Training has been... Well, it's been not-really-happening lately, but Ashley's getting back into it, as she can't keep some of her Pokémon (Agatha) from the battlefield for too long. So, a trip to the center, with a gaggle of...mostly ghosts following her brings Ashley adjacent to Ford's video. Her own Crobat follows her, but the sight of another catches his eye...and while he is polite enough to wait while Ashley's healing up her other Pokémon, he'll stray, hesitantly approaching the other Pokémon and the collection of eggs.

Are there little Zubat in these? Or something more like...that owl that he's never seen before? How curious.

...Ashley meanwhile has no idea that her sensible-bat-friend has strayed, for the first time since she's hatched him, so um, give her a little, sorry Ford, for the polite poison-type invading your space.]

[Funny enough, Ford isn't bothered at all. He's worked at the Pokemon center long enough that he's used to it being a place where trainers and their Pokemon can mingle exactly like this. When he looks back to see two Crobat instead of just one it doesn't faze him at all. It's not as though the lounge is private.

It's a good thing one Crobat in this occasion is polite, at least, because Claudia is not. She baps the new arrival with a wing in greeting, accompanied by a friendly screech. Because that's how you make friends. You scream at them. But, like, nicely. You can inspect her eggs, but be careful! Their dad is fussy.]

[Oh, of course he'll be careful! A screech is...surprising, he's more used to the ghosts that Ashley's accumulated, but he is a bat, so you know, scream away. Fellow Crobat, is this your mate? A little more low-key, he chirps at them, tilting his...head-body...to the side.

At the Center desk, meanwhile, Ashley's getting all her Pokémon settled, when the attendant asks:] "Just these five?"

[...And, uh.] Five? What- Agatha, where'd you- [An affronted Litwick jabs at her ankle. Excuse you, she's right here!] ...Jadis? Samara? [A quick headcount and all of her ghosts are there, as well as her Slyveon and shiny Umbreon. So then...

She turns around, very surprised.] Bram? Wha... Um, 'scuse me, yeah, here- I'll be back with him, just- give them a checkup, 'kay?

[Why...is her cuddlebug of a Crobat... Leaving the rest of her team with the nurse, Ashley finds him pretty quick, still mostly baffled.]

Bram! There you are, ohh, I am so sorry, he didn't- um, he wouldn't bother you, right...?

I'd very much much be interested in one. It's a shame there's no real way to tell what's inside. Rowlet seems like it would be a good fit for what my group is missing.

I've found there really is no Pokemon that isn't useful in some way, though a mixture of grass and flying -- and later grass and ghost -- is very strategic. I actually plan to bring my Decidueye to face Whitney in the next couple of days, as its ghost typing should make it immune to most of her attacks.

Out of curiosity, what is your group currently?

Which is exactly why I think it'd be a good fit. I've got a ghost in my group already but a grass/ghost is a combination I really can't pass up.

My current roster is a Vulpix, Furfrou, Mightyena, Pikachu and a Growlithe. I've got one other egg I'm tending to and then in my reserves I have a Nincada and a Banette.

Ice Path? I've heard much about it and all the ice-types that live there, but I've never journeyed that far before... [Her smile doesn't exactly fade, but she looks a little hesitant before she speaks up again.] If you really don't mind traveling companions... I'd love to accompany you, at least until you reach Blackthorn.

I wouldn't mind at all! The Ice-Types there are actually my primary goal; recently I came into possession of an Abomasite, but I find myself without an Abomasnow to make use of it. The clear solution is to obtain a Snover.

I'm no stranger to traveling long distances, but I've found that it's far easier with companions.

I have an Abomasnow, if you'd like to observe one before we reach Ice Path. I think he'd like it, too... I haven't given him a chance to stretch his legs much outside of training while i was still living in Ecruteak.

[She won't mention him being a shiny... let that be a surprise for Ford.]

... I agree. I don't know if I would've been able to make it past Cherrygrove if it hadn't been for Anna. Not just because I've never traveled like that before, but... [Her smile fades, just a bit, but the warmth is still there.] It helps to feel less overwhelmed in such a vast new world so unknown to you.

I certainly am! The Ice Path is my primary goal, but I don't see any reason not to explore beyond while I'm there.

Ah, no! Though with them both having 'bat' in the name I can see where you might make the connection. They are different species, though both resemble bats. Zubat is markedly smaller, eyeless, and a Poison type rather than a Dragon like your Noibat.
