So, I been thinking.

I been here a long time now. And you know how many Pokemon I've caught, that whole time?

[Jimmy holds up one malformed hand. It's the best he can do, lacking proper fingers.]

Don't get me wrong, I got a ton of Pokemon. But I didn't catch any of'em but one. And I feel like I'm missing out. That's a big part of being a Pokemon Trainer, right? Catching'em yourself?

So that's what I'm gonna do this summer. I'm gonna catch some Pokemon. I'm thinking about heading down to Ilex Forest, seeing what I can do.

Wouldn't mind some company, either.

Oh, speaking of that kinda thing...anybody looking for a place to rent in Goldenrod? I got a spare room, it's furnished and everything. Rent's pretty cheap, house is nice. It's just me and all the 'mons, so if you're a cool guy and you need a place, gimme a ring.

I didn't realise the number was so low. [ He knew Jimmy had adopted a lot of his Pokemon in, but he hadn't realised it was virtually all of them. He motioned to a Pokemon off camera. ]

I tried to catch a Hoothoot in Ilex Forest myself but someone intervened.

Yeah, the only one I caught was Trademark, my boy Pyroar. Funny part? I caught him for somebody else, but she went home before I could bring him back to her.

A Rowlet attacked the Hoothoot I was about to catch. And then butted his head on the pokeball I had thrown. I named him Reed. He is...a character. [ How else do you describe a Pokemon that drop kicked another to get captured? But even as he speaks there's a slight smile on his face. ]

What has inspired you to go and catch some now? [ After all Jimmy did have a lot of Pokemon. It seemed unlikely he was missing gaps in his coverage. If he was looking to train or take on a Gym. ]

If you didn't catch them yourself, how did you... Did you hatch? Or trade?

A couple of'em come from eggs, but most of'em...people left'em to me. When they went home. Or I dunno if they were left to me, but they got left and didn't have a trainer anymore, so...

I've been here longer than almost anyone I know and I wanna say at least three quarters of the Pokemon I own were inherited or given to me.

I counted all up once. I got one caught pokemon, my starter, and two that I hatched. All the rest...

I like to have reminders of the people I've lost...

Oh, I caught Trademark, when he was a Litleo. It was gonna be for a friend, but she went home before I could give'im to her. He's a Pyroar now, and I inherited a lady Pyroar, so he's happy.

Join the club of single digit Pokemon. I've got an egg, a recently hatched Ponyta and Pikachu.

Technically that's two, since the egg doesn't count in an active roster.

I'm still holding out for an all electric team to be honest.

Yeah, Akane's more of a fire type than I am, but I'm very partial to electrics.

Well, I dunno if it is for everybody. I've lost...well, a lotta close friends and family, and their whole collections went to me.

Yes, I'm new! I haven't been here very long. I think only a month. People giving me things without wanting anything in return is kind of weird. That doesn't happen where I'm from.

Heh. Honestly, that's pretty normal. I mean, when you think of it from a tactical standpoint, bred Pokemon have a lot more moves. You can raise them from the start, so some might say the bonds are deeper.

[But with that said, he shrugs.]

That being said, my frontliner's a capture. Got a handful of other captures, too, and they're just as important as any egg I've hatched. Going out, exploring, battling... It's an experience that can't be so easily replaced.

Oh, I ain't got many I raised, either. I inherited all mine from friends and stuff who ain't here anymore.

I'm looking forward to giving it a try! I mean, I tried before, but I didn't find what I was trying to catch.
