[You know who hasn't really been around lately? Ashley, who is just kind of...kneeling by her desk, in front of the hotel bed, adjusting the camera as it turns on.]

And that- okay, uh-- [Clears her throat, looks kind of...awkward.] I, um. Okay, this is kind of weird to ask about, since- I mean, people find eggs all the time in their rooms from br-breeding. [Turns like two shades redder, takes a deep breath, charges on-] But all my Pokémon, they were in their Pokéballs, or with me, and when I got back from work today, I found--

[It's better to just move aside, huh, shuffle away and sitting on her bed, oh well, it's just a Pokémon egg in a basket, Ash, why are you being so weird? It's protected by an odd blanket, one that's pattern resembles space.

From off-screen, Ashley continues:] Just here, like this, all...not like it appeared out of nowhere, like someone delivered it! But I had my door locked and the staff said no one left anything for me, and there is no note or anything and it's just so bizarre.

[...Nudges the PokéGear sllloooowly back so the egg basket's out of focus, behind her.]

I've been here for...almost five months now. [A little somber. Shakes herself out of it.] But this is... Has anyone seen or heard about...anonymous egg deliveries? It's kind of freaking me out.

Hm. It could be one that doesn't need an entrance and could teleport. Phased? Might be a ghost-type.

[Wah- an egg, it's an egg. They've been mentioned to her time and time again, but Mafuyu's never seen a Pokemon egg before. She tries to get a good look at the one Ashley has, but it's not like she can tell what it is or where it came from.]

Pokemon Santa... [She murmurs to herself, but quickly shakes her head; Santa's not real, she's old enough to know that already.] Hey, if you shine a light through it, like with a flashlight or something, maybe you can see what's inside.

Yeah. It was so much he called in a bunch of us for help.

[REALLY ALIENS]

Some of it's from the Pokédex, but most of this is stuff I learned from books. ...Mind you, it's mostly biology, not history, but there're some encyclopedias at the bookstore I work at.

[Okay Blake, try to hide your excitement, try to hide your excitement...]

Diiiirk, are you telling me I might have a ghost egg?

I wouldn't rule it out. The logistics of how ghost-types would actually lay an egg have got to be fascinating.

[By this point she's heard about llama God, so Joker's response is just--]

I-- At least it wasn't on the network, that was d-different it was prom! [not denying it huh]

[Shrugging, Lancer looked over his shoulder at the room behind him.] Weird, though. Usually it gets everybody, whatever 'it' is. If I had one Tyrfing woulda let me know by now.

Oh! I remember when that happened to me!

_{[Wrath has little to no concept of holidays, so he sees nothing weird about an egg appearing out of the blue randomly.]}

I woke up and it was just there, on my bed!

Then it broke and turned into a shining animal.

Not a clue. Can’t say I know what goes on in the head a llamas. Do any good deeds for wild Pokemon or some such lately?

[The egg itself is brown, pretty nondescript. It doesn't fit the elaborate blanket design.

Ashley has yet to talk to Mafuyu outside of text, so upon putting the ID to the face, she smiles a little; it's always a pleasant surprise to find out what someone over the network looks like. When her suggestion sinks in, the smile becomes confused...]

I think they're probably too thick for that... It's a lot bigger than a chicken egg or something like that.

He had to ask all of you for help? ...But, he's God. Wouldn't he have enough power to stop them himself?

[Ashley nods- and then realizes that was dumb and clears her throat.]

Yeah, it's uh. A nice-sized place near the Pokémon Center. There's a café attached? [Pretend I said the name here gentle handwaves]

...Do you like books?

I really don't want it to be one...!!

[A Phantump rises slowly behind the egg, poking at it with a surprised little face.]

I-I don't like ghosts.

[The Phantump smiles.]

[ Ashley, you have a tree ghost behind you. ]

Really? They hardy count as ghosts.

Well I mean, he's still a Pokemon, right? Even if he's super powerful, he can't fend off a whole army by himself, much less two.

[The one good thing about the network!! Talking to people via text vs audio vs video, it's like meeting three times as many people because heck if Mafuyu checks the trainer id to see who she's actually talking to.

As such, she's got a wide smile on her face as well, because 1) it's a girl she's talking to, and 2) think how large an omelette an egg that size could make. It's still kind of weird for her to think there's a living creature inside the egg when all the ones she's ever held in her hands come as a dozen in a carton.]

Hn~ None of my Pokemon know any laser attacks yet, so I can't help any. [Out of suggestions, Mafuyu sits back on a fallen tree trunk, idly kicking the air.] How long 'til it hatches and you get to know what's inside?

[Just fucking hides her reddening face.]

[That's a new piece of the puzzle. Ashley clicks her tongue.] Really? So...it's usually a mass-gift, but not this time. Why?
