[Is that a ridiculously fat little Houndour in a gold party hat? Yes. Yes it is. Doom Boner looks thrilled. He's sitting in a plush looking yellow chair with a rocket ship chew toy between his paws. As usual, Jack himself isn't in the shot.]

How's everybody doing today? Handsome Jack here!

I sure hope everybody's doing great. Why? Because according to a little alert on my ECHOgear here, today's a very important day. In fact, it's the anniversary of one of the greatest things to ever happen. And you all get to be a part of it.

It's my birthday!

[And he really does sound pleased about this. Why wouldn't he be? Usually, on his birthday, he's lavished with attention and expensive gifts and all the pomp and adoration he deserves. Why should now be any different?]

I like classy booze, fine cigars, hot chicks in hats...all the good stuff.

And before anyone asks, no, vanilla is not an acceptable cake flavor.

It's vanilla.

Vanilla sucks.

[It's fairly quiet wherever Tucker is, just a couple quiet noises in the background here and there, like animals shifting around.]

Okay, so. Been a while and I got a couple questions now that this whole universe thing is done flipping its shit.

We got this dex thing on our phones, and it's pretty useful. But here's my question. How d'you know when your animals stop changing? Like, is there a line somewhere, because my stuff doesn't register anything new until I run into something new. That make sense? [Tucker literally just poke around on your fucking dex, it's not hard.]

Other question. I've been here a fucking while and got a job and shit, but please tell me there's something like a bank around. It's starting to be a pain in the ass carrying the money around like this, surely a place like this has banks. Someone tell me I'm not crazy. I'll take dumb over crazy at this point.

[There's a quiet moment, then a breath as he gets ready to AND ANOTHER THING, hesitates and decides nah fuck it.]

[ACTION - Goldenrod]

[If you ever wanted to see a groan man strike out so hard so fast, look no further than Tucker trying and failing multiple times to talk the cashier at the nearest pokemart into getting drinks with him. And the nurse at the nearby Center.

Sighing carrying a couple bags of groceries down the street and gives a not-exactly-family-friendly smile to the woman waiting by the bus bench.

He's not exactly batting a thousand when he takes a seat and sighs.] Should've asked what it takes to get a quickie around here.

[The feed turns on, and the scene is... a bathroom, which is kind of flooded. The bathtub is filled with water, and a certain recently-evolved homicidal starfish is chilling in there, pretty calmly for anyone who has ever seen Arius before, especially considering the sparkly Lumineon sharing the space. But that's not the flooded part. Honestly, that looks the most normal. The waves in there could be from the fish swimming around.

Everything else is soaked. Someone (cough probably Rose cough) apparently noticed the water acting funny and stopped up the sink to observe it (it's off now, but one gets the feeling it hasn't been for long), where a male Jellicent is cheerfully letting the waves lap at his tentacles, though the splashing keeps escaping the sink and making a mess on the floor.

And an Inkay has somehow managed to find its way into the toilet. It looks kind of lost and confused, itself.

Ryner just lets this scene sink in before addressing it, with the tone of someone who wouldn't exactly mind one of these days being able to say he's seen it all and mean it.]

Is... anybody else getting this? This whole waves in water that shouldn't have any thing, I mean. The mess is a pain, but it's manageable, but the waves...

Also this little guy came in through the toilet somehow? [indicating the Inkay] So, ahh, watch out, I guess.

[It's the crack of dawn, and Mei looks...rather tired. She hadn't been bothered by the sleeplessness other people suffered last week, but she has her own sleep problem to worry about. Floating behind her is a rather cheerful looking Chimecho who's just chiming away.]

Has anyone else had problems keeping their Pokémon in their balls? This one seems to be an escape artist.

[A pause as she glances back over her shoulder at the offending critter.]

...and she's been doing this since I found her. It only got worse when she evolved. Every morning at five. Without fail.

[Needless to say, it isn't exactly pleasant when you need the rest.]

[Is it just him? The feed is showing a tired, grizzled man with one eye currently looking worse for wear trying to feed his Pidgey, Ash, a berry from a nearby tree. He's in Cherrygrove City and can't remember how long he'd even been there. Snake drops the berry just before his Pidgey can peck it and he swears aloud. Sorry younger viewers.]

....

Damn this! Why can't you pick it up like a normal bird or something?

[He huffs and bends down to retrieve it before getting back up squishing the berry between his fingers. Another one squished. The tired soldier leans up against a nearby tree and shrugs to his Pidgey. Ash cocks his head to the side and flies up landing on his master's shoulder. He can tell that something's wrong. Snake hasn't been able to get any sleep. Why the hell? He doesn't have a damn clue and he's cranky. He doesn't even have the energy to talk much. Not that he talked much before but this is even worse. He's used to lack of sleep during missions but this? It's even worse when you have Pokémon to look after like a mother hen all them time.

One cranky Snake.]

DD? Heal boy.

[DD, his Poochyena, nuzzles Snake's ankle, looking up at him with a concerned look over his features. His Pokémon had definitely noticed that the old soldier hasn't been getting his zzzz's lately and it's wearing him thin.]

Anyone else not been able to sleep? Not right. This place is cursed or something.

[Yeah. Good answer. Not seeds in the air at all causing it. Nope.]

[ACTION]

[It's a new day in New Bark town, and the sun is shining on the eyes of one small girl who's trying to sleep. She waves her hand, flails more like, at the sun for a second before her eyes open, and then slowly and blearily opens her eyes, blinking the sleep away and looking around the strange room.

After a few fruitless minutes looking for her dad, Yotsuba is near tears. This is only helped by the friendly woman who says she's named mom and directs Yotsuba to start her journey, pointing her towards the old man in the center of town, who in turn welcomes her and helps her with the basics.

It's also helped by the delightfully large cicada she dubs Cicada-chan and begins to carry around. The people of the town insist it's hers and congratulate her on the start of her journey. They also call the bug a nincada.

Once Yotsuba receives her backpack, and pokegear, it's time to figure out how it works. Yotsuba can be found sitting in New Bark Town, fiddling with the pokegear. It's probably being held upside down.]

[The video starts shaky. And upside down. Soon enough though, the camera is righted and steadied, and Yotsuba starts grinning, even as the cicada-like pokemon perched on her shoulders starts to chew on one of her pigtails.]

Hello! It's Yotsuba's birthday!

[At least according to the pokegear it is. And she's 10? That's news to her. But she IS taller. Maybe she slept like in a fairy tale!]

[The video is short but the person behind the camera is frantic. Henry Townshend is not one to make use of volume but here it is. His voice breaks as he shouts and rushes around with his camera, digging through deep drifts of daisies and marigolds and cherry blossums in search of the Sharpedos that chill in the backyard pool.]

They're back! They're back. No one believed me but it's happening again! Don't listen to any urges, use the buddy system!

[Of course he yells this while seemingly completely alone. Henry swishes his arm through what used to be pool water.]

What the hell's with all the flowers?

[That's really all Handsome Jack is concerned with, at the moment.]

Seriously.

What the hell?

[Action]

[Freaking flowers.]

[They're everywhere. The sidewalks look like the aftermath of some kind of soft core snowstorm already and more just keep falling from...he doesn't even know. A pocket dimension, who the hell knows? He's been standing outside his usual cafe for hardly a handful of minutes, and already there are pastel petals in his hair and flowers clinging to his blazer and getting caught on his watches and in the hinges of his mask.]

[Not to mention floating in his overly-sweet coffee.]

[It's too much to hope for that the rain of flora is at least recreationally viable. The only kind of highs plants around here give are not fun ones. This planet sucks. If it weren't so clearly ripe for the picking, with nobody else even thinking about grabbing it, he doubts he could find anything redeeming about it at the moment. It's not even terrible, it's just stupid and annoying. Everything is stupid and annoying.]

[He sighs audibly, covering his face with his hand and adopting a dramatically irritated pose.]

[His nose is starting to itch. And he's got to bike back through this ridiculous weather. With his stupid fat puppy. That's rolling in the flowers because of course the scary bone dog named Doom Boner loves flowers.]

[What did he ever do to deserve this?]

[So someone looks a little stunned based on what he just heard. He'd joked around about making a Flying-type gym, but that was just a joke, right?]

[Right?]

So. Uh. I guess I have work to do. Joker? I'm taking a break from the circus. Everyone else? I've got the Zephyr, Hive, Plain, Storm, and Fog Badges. That means I have Mineral, Glacier, and Rising left in Johto.

Anyone want to come with me? I'm guessing a bunch of us really want to challenge the gym leaders now, so we might as well travel together. I'm in Goldenrod right now, but I'm getting ready to head out.

[The feeds snaps on to show a rather grizzled man with a beard and eyepatch patting a rather friendly dog Pokémon. A Poochyena to be precise. Boss grunted in amusement when the dog started to chew on his metallic arm. A toy? Well, the Pokémon thought the metal was rather interesting compared to his other normal limb.]

Hngh. A dog? Didn't think I'd end up having another one trailing after me.

[Boss picked up the empty Poke ball from his back pack and studied it. How could such a large animal fit in such a small device? It was all rather confusing right now. Also, what was that music playing? It sounded like a tape but no music he'd ever heard on his iDroid before.]

Hey! Watch the arm. [Snake scalded the energetic Pokémon when he bit down on one of Snake's prosthetic fingers. He was only a puppy but still. He needed those fingers.]

Going to call you DD. You're just like him. Good dog. [Snake patted Poochyena's head and made the dog sit. Good. At least he was learning. It wasn't the first time he'd had a dog follow him and try to lick his face. Snake focused back to the video feed and sighed.]

Anyone hear me? Can someone tell me what's going on and why these animals seem to fit inside tiny balls? [Yeah. He's going to go with that first of all.]

Afternoon, Johto. York here, bringing you another summer weekday post from the middle of beautiful Goldenrod City.

[York's made-for-radio voice sounds as friendly as usual, but his first topic is more serious than is his wont, on the PokéConnect.]

I'm seeing a lot of new faces this month, and it looks like some of the old familiar stand-bys have left. All that change is enough to shake up anybody, so I just wanted to remind everyone that someone put something together where people can chat with someone anonymously to get things off their chest they wouldn't want to share in person. The benefit's that you can contact that anonymous volunteer a second time without giving yourself away. Pretty cool, right? I'll share a link at the end of this.

[Now he brightens.]

In other news, now that it looks like things are finally coming back together, I figured I'd do my part and breed another batch of eggs for everyone. I'm gonna do it a liiiiittle differently this time, though: Outta the following eggs, which would you most like to see? [He leans back and starts counting on his fingers.] I can do Elgyem, Abra, Shinx, Ducklett, Pidove, Dedenne, Buizel, Sneasel, Deerling, Munna, anddddd Pawniard, but not all at once, and not all of 'em might turn out with great moves. On the other hand, there'd be a couple chances for a shiny hatchling--that's an alternate coloring, for you new folks--with the right breeding pairs.

[He spreads his arms and shrugs.]

As usual, newcomers can have one egg to take home free, though I've put my seasonal Snubbull deal on hold for a while till everything's totally rebuilt. Baseball games'll be resuming shortly, though, so if you're in the area, come on up and show some Granbull pride at the stadium, okay?

[A little later, a text goes out with a link to EXCH△NGE, which is totally not run by anyone York knows, no sirree.]

[ACCIDENTAL VIDEO]

[The feed comes alive with a beautiful blue sky streaked with clouds...and then the ground. And then the sky. And then the ground. A brief glimpse of the eastern side of a western-bound Rhyhorn enveloped in a cloud of dust. Atop the beast is a very alarmed looking trainer facing backwards with one arm outstretched for the tumbling Poke'Gear and the other struggling to keep his hat on. The sky. The ground. The sky. And then finally, all is dark.]

[ON-PURPOSE VIDEO]

[This video comes much later in the day. The sky has turned from blue to amber and the familiar scenery of Route 29 passes lazily behind Maurice. He had bemoaned the idea of it taking three days just to get to another city, but from the back of a Pokemon? That just might be tolerable! So long as they took things nice and slow at first. Maurice is exhausted, a little scratched up with a fresh bandaid on his chin, but still grinning. It's hard to tell if his cheeks are red from exertion or sunburn.]

[It's probably both to be honest. He's a pretty pasty guy.]

Did...[A wheeze.] Did you guys know that a Rhinosaurus can only run in one direction? I didn't.

[Meatloaf rumbles from off-screen and Maurice laughs, leaning down to pat the Rhyhorn's forehead.]

At least it was the direction we were goin'! Had to call him back into his ball to get him to stop. And then we had to walk all the way back and find my computer thing. And fight a couple of birds that were fighting over it.

[Maurice goes quiet. Thoughtful. He looks away from the camera and watches the trees pass him by.]

I guess...I was too busy worrying about taking care of him that I didn't let him take care of me. That's what we're supposed to be, right? A team?

[A much louder, happy rumble comes from his Pokemon and Maurice flops forward, arms outstretched, so that the camera can at least get one of the beast's eyes in the shot along with his face.]

Watch your butt, Cherrygrove! Team Heavy Metal is comin' for you!

[ACTION FOR ROUTE 29, June 30]

[The following day, it isn't terribly hard to come across the pair as they make their way down the route. They stop occasionally for Maurice to hop down and stretch his legs and also to lay face-up on the path and groan because riding a rhino made of rocks makes you about ten times more sore than riding an animal that's supposed to be ridden. You know, like a horse.]

[It's going to take a little longer than Maurice thought to get there. At least so far he hasn't seen any scary-looking Pokemon! Sleeping curled up next to a walking army tank does wonders for the nerves.]

[You know who hasn't really been around lately? Ashley, who is just kind of...kneeling by her desk, in front of the hotel bed, adjusting the camera as it turns on.]

And that- okay, uh-- [Clears her throat, looks kind of...awkward.]
I, um. Okay, this is kind of weird to ask about, since- I mean, people find eggs all the time in their rooms from br-breeding. [Turns like two shades redder, takes a deep breath, charges on-] But all my Pokémon, they were in their Pokéballs, or with me, and when I got back from work today, I found--

[It's better to just move aside, huh, shuffle away and sitting on her bed, oh well, it's just a Pokémon egg in a basket, Ash, why are you being so weird? It's protected by an odd blanket, one that's pattern resembles space.

From off-screen, Ashley continues:]
Just here, like this, all...not like it appeared out of nowhere, like someone delivered it! But I had my door locked and the staff said no one left anything for me, and there is no note or anything and it's just so bizarre.

[...Nudges the PokéGear sllloooowly back so the egg basket's out of focus, behind her.]

I've been here for...almost five months now. [A little somber. Shakes herself out of it.] But this is... Has anyone seen or heard about...anonymous egg deliveries? It's kind of freaking me out.

[Cloud's frowning softly when he appears on the network, attempting to figure out this strange device he found on his person upon waking up. It's similar enough to the phones he's used for him to at least get it turned on but it's still strange enough that it has him unsettled.

As does the strange sword...thing.]

...Tifa? Barrett? If either of you are seeing this, I would appreciate an explanation.

[Because this had to be some sort of strange joke.

The camera gets jarred around as Cloud suddenly side steps and when it does focus again anyone watching can now see a Honedge as well, one that the blonde is eyeing rather warily.]

For where I am and what that is.

[Because he really wasn't keen on believing anything that man had said. His first thought had been 'fiend!' but he'd seen a lot of fiends before. Fought a lot of fiends. This? This was just...yeah. No. Whatever it was he didn't want it.]

I also want to know where my motorcycle is. I'd like to get back to Edge sometime today.

[Action]

[Shutting off his new little device--Pokégear?--Cloud tucked it away into one of his many pockets, the backpack he'd been given slung absently over his shoulder. Beside him, the Honedge he'd received from the professor was peering at him in a wary yet curious manner, sizing the blonde up almost.

At least that's what it seemed like to Cloud.

The blonde frowned before making himself look away, glancing around the town itself before he focused on the road leading out. He couldn't be on a different continent, that would be just a little too over the top for whatever sort of prank this was.

Had to be.

With that in mind the blonde started walking and made it a few feet before he paused and glanced over his shoulder. The Honedge was trailing behind him and immediately stopped when he did, an odd sound coming from the creature that had Cloud's frown deepening.]

Find someone else to bother.

[Because he really didn't want anything to do with this. He had way too much stuff to be working on back in Edge.]

[Frisk frowns into the camera, sitting a ways away from Elm's lab with their backpack in their lap and a worried looking Skiddo hovering over their shoulder. They chew on their lip and look back in the direction of Mom's house before finally speaking up.]

Does anyone know where Mount Ebott is? I...I think I'm lost.

Mom? If you're here, I'm by a lab right now...I made a new friend! His name's Buddy, lemme show you--

[The feed swings around, and now you all have a...very close up view of the Skiddo's face. It sneezes on the lens.]

He's really nice! I think you'll like him, too. He doesn't say a whole lot, though.

Um, okay, bye!

[ACTION]

[Frisk shuts off the feed, and slumps forward over their backpack, the cheerful facade falling away into worry. Buddy bleats and nudges their cheek, but Frisk doesn't respond outside of reaching up a hand to pet the Pokemon.]

[This is really bad. Nothing like this has ever happened before...it doesn't feel like a RESET, but Frisk can't think of anything else that would pull them away like this. And on top of that...]

[Again, Frisk closes their eyes and turns their mental focus inward, reaching and reaching and trying...but they're alone. Nobody came.]

[Frisk sniffles, and buries their face in their arms.]

[While Luna has seen other people's video messages on the PokéGear, she's not sure if she's ready for her debut, especially without knowing how many people are here exactly.]

Hello, everyone. My name is Luna, and I've just arrived here. You have probably seen many messages like this one, but I have a few questions and I'd greatly appreciate some answers.

1) What is this place? I'm aware that this question isn't too precise, but any information will be of a great help.
2) Is there a doctor here?
3) Is breeding...what I think it is?

Thank you in advance,
Luna

( Action )

[While this town can't be called a big one no matter how you look at it, it's still a bit too much to Luna who after wandering around for an hour or two needs to rest, even if for a while. Thankfully, she notices a bench just after the exhaustion kicks in and sits on it while her Audino takes a seat by her side.]

Do you know what is going on here?

[Clearly, she's addressing her own Pokémon; it just tilts it's head in a response, not sure what Luna may be referring to.]

Oh, that's silly of me...you can't speak human language. I-I'm sorry.

[There's no reason for her to apologize and yet. Looking pensive, Luna lays her eyes on her hands as she takes turns curling them into fists and opening them. Audino seems to be watching over her all this time, but all of a sudden it scoots closer to Luna and presses it's ear against her, just like the Pokémon was performing physical examination.

Which, in fact, Audino does. With that done, it reaches to the backpack Luna has received before and pulls the boxed lunch out. In the meantime, she doesn't move much, wondering what Audino is up to. It becomes clear a little while later, when the Pokémon is holding up a sandwich, trying to feed it's trainer.]

B-But it's not—

[Audino is having none of it and puts the sandwich into her mouth. Moreover, it seems that it won't let her off the hook until she'll eat everything.]
