[The Jane that greets the feed on the 'gear today is a little tired and quite thoughtful, her brow furrowed as she rifles through a stack of photos - of the kind that one might have gotten developed from a disposable camera in a PokeMart, which she happens to be in at the moment, waiting to be rung up by a clerk-in-training who seems to be having some trouble with the register. The device is tilted up at Jane, and the tiny edge of pink fingers indicate that her Audino is the camerawoman today.]

So...there was a weekend a few weeks ago where everything got...you know, odd? And I figured it would be unsafe to travel during that time, so I stayed home. But afterwards, I found a used disposable camera in my things? Or, well, Dinah found it - [The Audino trills at the mention] - so I thought...what's the harm in seeing what photos are on it, to find out who they belong to? But...

[Jane sighs, and turns some of the photos towards the 'gear. While blurry, they still very obviously focus on Jane and various strange people...and a Togepi in her arms.]

Did...was I...was I out and about and didn't realize it? Or is this one of those weird "alternate self" things? [She squints at one in her hands.] This is so weird...it's surreal, I...this me looks so relieved to be with some of these people...

[She tsks and shakes her head, putting the photos away.] Anyway - if you did see me back then, I'd like to hear from you. I hope this other me didn't...I don't know, treat you rudely? Or something.

Oh wow...I've done a lot of weird stuff on the weekends that I don't end up remembering--or so I'm told--but that's...pretty wild.

I'm positive I didn't do any of this, though - it had to of been some alternate self! As weird as it sounds, it's apparently a thing.

But how'd it get in your bag? I didn't bump into you--either of you myself though.

[The feed shows Rakka in... her bedroom. Because the trend of communicating in the house with their gears has to continue.]

Uh... were you? I don't remember seeing you leave the house, and I never saw anyone that looked like you out there.

[A thought hits her.] Oh. But, I do have something interesting I have to show you.

Oh, wow, other-you knows a lot of people...

There was apparently some version of me outside. There are clearly trees and sky in the background of some of these pictures.

[Jane pauses.] Oh? What's up?

[Jane just. Shrugs.]

I have no idea. Maybe our bags go a little wonky too, whenever these things happen. They already hold an inordinate amount of objects in them without being overly heavy.

That's what it seems like. At least she's not friendless.

[Which is...a pretty good thing. Probably.]

I think one of these is with you, though. Do you remember seeing me outside of the house, Penny?

Unless...you actually split in two! And that's why you don't remember! And the you that was you while you weren't you wound up with the bag but when you re-fused, she brought it back!

[Jane glances away, brow furrowed.]

That would be a lot creepier. And considering that there have apparently been versions of me here before...I don't know if I want to consider an alternative that drastic.

_{[Maurice's face blanches. Oh. Oh shit that's right. That's a THING here. He tries to put himself in Jane's shoes and imagine dealing with another Maurice running around. He shudders.]}

Eeeyyygh, I see your point. Sorry about that. But...you seem nice! I'm sure the other you was just as nice. I wouldn't worry about it.

_{[Yes you fucking would, Maurice.]}

Ah, it's okay. Don't worry about it. [She rubs the back of her neck.] I would certainly hope she was nice, if she made so many friends. I just...it's really weird. I wonder if she's the same me that used to be my Bisharp's trainer.

_{[Maurice humms for a moment and a thoughtful little frown forms on his face...and then a smile!]}

You should leave a letter for her in your bag if she ever comes back.

Huh...do you think it'd go to her? If I did that...maybe I should ask her to do something to let me know she's read it.

Ah...it's okay, the only thing I'm super clear about on that weekend was that I am sure I didn't leave the house. But, ah, thank you for...checking on her?

[Yeah this is super fucking weird]

Hmmm... [She seems to really be considering this. Then, suddenly,] Alright, stay right there!

[She darts away from the screen, actually dropping her gear in the process. Thankfully, the up-close view of her bedsheets won't be all that Jane sees for long as Rakka returns, holding something in her hand.]

[She holds the photo up to her screen, on it is Rakka, happily smiling beside Rakka.

...Wait.]

[Hold on, let her just...rub her eyes really quick to make sure she isn't seeing double.]

Did...the film get exposed or something?

[BECAUSE LET'S GO TO LOGICAL POSSIBILITIES FIRST PLEASE]

[Look at it, Jane, look at it.]

No it's... Aha... I actually met... another me.

[And yes, the girl beside Rakka looks exactly like her... Well, there are several differences: notably, a couple scars on the other Rakka's face, and a small difference in their age from the looks of it.]

You...whoa. Wait. Hold on...you met another version of yourself? And nothing...imploded, or whatever?

[VR!Jane could have met AL!Jane???]

[Maybe?????????]

Yes! It was only for a little while, but I enjoyed it!

[She hums a bit, tapping her chin.] At least, I think. I can't remember too much about her, besides this picture.

Holy cow...maybe I should've gone out after all...

Of course I'd check on her! That's what friends do, even if they're friends from some kind of parallel alternate timeline where they've got a Togepi instead of an Audino!

...We ARE friends, right? I don't think I've ever actually asked for sure, I just sort of assumed. Is that okay?

Seems like a lot of really weird stuff went on that weekend. I haven't developed any of my pictures yet so I'm not sure how weird it got on my end but I didn't think I ran into you..that version of you?...at all.

[He's still trying to wrap his brain around having his powers back then not having them again. Oh and running into Ardyn who apparently thought he was the King of Insomnia???]

Well, yes, of course - I don't see why we wouldn't be friends at this point.

[Haha who's Ardyn there's no way alternate Jane would have been watching his misadventures for the past almost two months]

Oh, well, that's alright. I imagine folks knowing me and running into her would have proven incredibly confusing.

Wouldn't doubt it. I ran into someone I know from home but the one that was here was completely different. It was really, really strange.

And apparently happens regularly in this place?

So far this is the second time I've experienced it happening - the first was in November. So...hm, that's about six months in between...it's a biannual anomaly?

Great. Well, at least there's a timeframe, I guess. I can be a little more prepared for weird stuff next time.

...I wonder if anyone's ever tried to make a guide for these sorts of weekends. "Welcome to when everything goes topsy turvy, here's what you do to stay sane" or something like that.

If there is one, I haven't heard of it. It might be something useful to put together.

If we could somehow make it part of the Poke'gear programing, that'd be even better. Pamphlets can be destroyed or lost, and word of mouth only goes so far if enough people are around to remember what to say.

No, neither am I. Sometimes it's a little unnerving to think someone knows what you're thinking, since, well...thoughts are usually private things unless given voice.

Hm. I don't think anyone back on Remnant was. ...Probably. Semblances can do a lot of things, but that seems like something you'd hear about!

Er, they're...shaky and blurry. And sometimes there's a creepy stuffed Pikachu lurking in the corner? But if I cover him up with a sticker or something, there's less of an eerie feel to them.

...A stuffed Pikachu? Like a toy, or like one of those Mimic things?

I'm not sure.

[Think the thing in the picture for the 4th Wall post. Just. Chilling out in a corner. Menacingly. Yep, we're gonna pick up some happy stickers to put over that.]

Either way, maybe it's another odd sort of...trapping of that weekend.
