[Sasha isn't too fond of reading so while she skimmed the booklet text for the clues, she's found better use of it as a makeshift hat for her Togepi that's perched on the edge of her desk. Reading is fundamental... for fashion!]

Does anybody want to team up for this scavenger hunt thing? I know how to hunt and track things really well. Back home, that's all I did! Well, it was for animals so we could have food and clothing and stuff we needed to live, but I think tracking people down can't be too different from tracking a doe. I don't think we'd need any traps for them either. It'll be easy!

[And fun. Who doesn't like fun?]

Anyway, if anybody wants help, I'm in Blackthorn right now so we can start there and work our way around. Oh, and if nobody wants their SNACK, [Can you hear those capital letters? She's practically voicing them.] don't throw it away! I'll eat it!

[Sent at 14:27.]

How many people are training a Yungoos out there? Are they supposed to enjoy ripping up clothes? Is this some species-wide quirk no one warned me about? Help, I think the cashier saw everything.

[Sent at 14:32.]

False alarm. Turns out they received new cut out jeans yesterday and a pair fell on Sniffy's head. We're good.

[Sent at 14:34, with a photo of this garment attached.]

What the hell. WHAT. THE. HELL.
agent3: (Mreee!)

[The video starts pointed at the sand, then turns up, revealing the shore of Cianwood City. Whoever's holding the camera is reasonably far away from the actual water, though, and it quickly shifts lower to the mouth of a shiny Espeon.]

Hold on, 'kay Carbuncle?

Okay!

[That's Thida coming into the shot as she grins, the expression a little shaky, while gently petting Carbuncle in thanks.]

Um. So, um. Stuff's been real sad...for everybody...see it a lot. So...wanna do somethin' fun. T'make y'laugh. [But how exactly to go about making other people laugh? It's not something Thida knows how to do. But you are in luck, Johto and Kanto - VineWhip is an excellent app that is totally still a thing in this universe, and she's found something that keeps making her collapse into giggles with every viewing.

It's at this point where you're likely to notice the Octillery in the background, hyper focused on Thida, who pulls something out from off camera - a metal trash can lid. It looks fairly dented, and a little slick with...is that ink?]

Okuuu!

[The Octillery perks up as Thida winds up the lid, almost like a frisbee.]

This binch empty - yEET!!!

[And the lid is LAUNCHED into the air with all the strength a tiny teenage secret agent can muster, the "yeet" like a code word as Oku launches an Inkzooka towards the lid's trajectory, and - BAM, it hits the lid, pushing it further towards the shore until it lands in the surf, sticking out from the wet sand. Thida is cackling with glee, her grin genuine and wide, and the feed starts bounding towards her and bobbing around as Carbuncle joins her to celebrate, repeating "YEET" psychically so you all can hear their enthusiasm.

Arceus save us. The squid has found a meme.]
heartandsoul: ([Ahem] Apprehension)
[personal profile] heartandsoul
[With all the excitement of the strange monsters attacking, Maka all but disappeared onto the ferry and returned to the mainland, didn't she? Where in the world of Pokemon has she been?

Apparently, she's been in Violet City practically living in the library. Shouldn't she be challenging Falkner and moving on by now? Well...yes. But books take priority. The image of a very smug-looking Ribombee perched on the shelves is the first thing that comes on the feed, before it pans over to the book shelved next to it.]

"Carrie" by Stephen Kingler. Are you kidding me?

[Yep, that's Maka's voice, she pans the Gear over to the table where another book rests: "Call of Malamarlu and other short stories" by HP Luvdisc.]

From what I can see, they're super sanitized versions too. [Apparently in the time she's been absent, Maka has read all of these books she found.] And I still haven't found "Dark Side of the Moon." [That last part is more of a mutter to herself, from there she shuts off the feed and goes back to sorting through the shelves (probably rearranging things by alphabetical order and their proper call number just on instinct--what is with people and not putting things back where they go?)]
foolishwren: i know what it is tho :) (to YOU it's a ufo)
[personal profile] foolishwren
[WELLP. Heather's on a rooftop at the crack of dawn. That always means good news!]

[Or not. Weirdly, it's... actually been awhile since she's had to do something like this. A good, long while.]

[Losses are nothing new. She's had dozens of them over the years, some close and some not. In a horrible way, they almost fade into the background after awhile. As long as none of your core group leaves, the way others come and go eventually stops meaning so much.]

[And no matter how long you're here, it's easy to let your defenses be lulled by the longterm presence of friends into thinking that they are in any way permanent.]

[Which is why Heather is up on one of the higher towers on Goldenrod, sitting on a deep window-ledge with Hurricane the Pidgeot roosting nearby, and the yellow fuzz of a Joltik nestled in the hood of her vest for moral support-- Mully's been with her for so many of these.]

[After popping the video on, she offers whoever might be watching at this hour a weary smile. She doesn't look like she's been crying... she just looks tired.]

What's up, Goldenrod City. And the rest of Johto. ... And Kanto.

I guess.

I feel like I only ever make my own videos anymore when like... something super emotional and serious happened. I'm gonna make a late new year's resolution to cut that out and start recording dumb stuff like reaction videos to the cereal running out or something. I dunno.

What that was a lead-in to was that if anyone out there knew Henry Townshend-- and a few years ago this might not have even been worth it, but he's been opening up and getting out a LOT more lately-- he's... gone.

I honestly never... thought it'd happen.

But here we are.

Unlike me, he actually had something important to do back home. Had to save the world from something pretty crazy that he didn't sign up for, that he had to spend years here recovering from because it messed him up so much.

He was always scared he wouldn't be able to do it, that he'd just crumble when the time came.

But after watching him grow, all these years? I... hope that everything he's done here will give him the confidence he needs-- deserves. I believe in him. If you only knew him as your... zest dealer, or the guy at the Pokemon Center, that might sound nuts, but I promise you, he's something special.

[Okay, she may not have cried before making the video, but her voice does crack a little on that last sentence. She lets out a sigh, lifting a hand first to rub the side of her face and then to gently scratch the Joltik's head.]

My 'Oh no someone I loved is gone!' videos used to be a lot more explosive. One time I tried to smash a Pokemon egg on video-- this guy's egg, actually-- because I didn't have anger management issues, I was the anger management that angry customers ask to speak to. I don't know if that joke landed or not. Don't tell me.

Point is, I uh... handle things better, now.

So I'm not gonna smash anything.

But... I wouldn't be me, and it wouldn't be a loss video... if I didn't do a little somethin'.

[She turns the 'Gear a little bit so that she can lift up a large Sawsbucks chocolate-chip matcha frap with almost an entire extra cups' worth of whipped cream on top. Don't even ask her how she got it up here.]

This is Henry's favorite Sawsbucks drink.

And to celebrate us being anti-authoritarian rebels sticking it to the man in various rude and awful ways forever, I'm gonna pour it out right over Main Street.

... And then drop some money down for dry-cleaning if it hits somebody. I'm technically supposed to be an adult now, and also my dad will probably see this video later and I think his dad powers might actually be strong enough to still ground a twenty-something.

[There's some rustling noises as she twists the 'Gear around to show the drop, and the sidewalk far below. She holds the drink out, top popped off.]

To Henry... wherever you are. You'd better be killing God right now, you big stupid weirdo, or I'm gonna give you the wedgie of a lifetime the next time I see you.

[And then she upturns the drink.]

[It does not hit anybody. But it does leave a big green splat on the sidewalk that somebody's Lillipup immediately runs over to lick.]

... Sweet. Don't have to drop any money.

[The camera spins around again.]

That was super satisfying. Now let's keep the train rolling. To everybody who replies, I will share a weird Henry story, because I am determined to laugh instead of crying. I've got tons and they're all great so even if you don't know him, you know you gotta hear about the stoner guy who once got picked up with the trash and rode all the way to a different city in a garbage truck one time.

[Excuse the shaky view as Sasha sets the gear up on the floor in front of her, giving the public as large a view of her sitting on the floor by her bed cross-legged. She rubs at her nose a few times, glancing off screen anxiously before she turns back to the 'gear and addresses the public at large.]

How do you make friends? [A pause.] I mean, real people friends, not Pokemon friends.

[Which makes this post a whole lot more pathetic. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!]

Like I don't know a lot of stuff because where I'm from we don't even have lights or water on the inside or schools or those car things. Just horses. And mountains. And lots of trees. So a lot of the stuff people talk about here, I never heard of and...

[...she feels too stupid, too much of a hick to bond over familiar things. Growing up people laughed at her for being so backwoods. That's something one doesn't shake off easily.]

But I want friends even though I don't know stuff. I don't mind learning! I... just don't want people to laugh at me about it.

[Beep, good afternoon world of Pokemon! Botan turns on the video with it focused on herself, though a Sensu Oricorio does peer into the lens with interest at first. Botan laughs and moves it up.]

Come now, Hisoka-chan, it's not a mirror. That's a camera, people can see you.

[The Pokemon looks a little surprised at this and pulls up a wing over its face in embarrassment. She just smiles gently at it before coming back to what the original intent was.]

Hello, everyone, Botan here. We seem to have gotten some new people, so I wanted to introduce myself and what I'm able to do to help you make the most of your life here.

[Well isn't that nice, pretty nice for a strange lady with bright blue hair and fuschia eyes.]

Mostly I run a sweets shop over in Goldenrod, I've been vacationing on the islands but I'm ready to come back and reopen it soon. You can always get something nice for you or your Pokemon to eat or even seek work if you wish. My other services include interpreting Pokemon and mediating between them and their trainers, most especially Ghost types. I have a certain talent for communicating with them and understanding what they say. ...I know in particular ghosts can be troublesome ones, can't they? [She laughs again, rather jovial for someone talking about actual ghosts.] In any case, please do always feel free to contact me for anything, my door is always open!

[And the feed just ends there. Apparently people can have days in this world where they aren't distressed or reacting to something strange in the nature of the world.]

You know, I've seen a lot of weird things in my life. And not just here, but back home, too. I have experienced a plethora of strange and inexplicable happenings within the eighteen years of my natural born life.
And I should know by now that I haven't seen it all.
I should know this.
And yet...I go out to the store to stock up on travel supplies...so very ready for a fun adventure with my friends in this lovely weather, and I find...this.

[What follows are several pictures of the cover and inside of a cookbook, featuring pages upon pages of various recipes with key components substituted with...instant ramen noodles. Uncooked, hard as a rock, instant ramen noodles in many cases. Like the "smores", and the "pizza", and good Arceus almighty why is that apple pie crust made from only ramen noodles. Apparently it's only one part of a display, as there are some other books and products endorsed by the same red-haired woman with a kindly disposition, and the last picture is a sign with her face on it hanging over it all, proclaiming it to be the "Cathy Minccino Kitchen Collection".]

Miss Minccino...who hurt you? Who or what inspired you to share these things with the world? These...really frightening food mistakes that couldn't be appealing to anyone, I...where the heck do ketchup and soda factor into a BARBEQUE BEEF PASTA?!?!?
Who would eat this? I don't even think a Snorlax would eat any of this!
I'm just...this is horrific. This is terrible. These are FOOD CRIMES. Guys, if you're setting out this spring and summer, and if you want to bring along instant ramen, do me a favor and don't follow anything in this book. Add things to the base soup, or use less water and make it one of those fried noodle things. Do not try to live off of ramen "spaghetti" tacos.
Please. It's for your own good.

Well that was a fun prom. My Pokemon are well rested. Unfortunately the lot of us fell asleep in the sauna so we missed the chaos.

Which was sad, because we wanted to see aliens. Even if they're Alien Pokemon.

That being said, I'm going to train my Pokemon here on the Islands for a bit so if anyone needs me, I'll be reachable by gear. I'm going to tackle the remaining... 13 gyms? Oh wait, 14, at the Elite Level which means TRAINING MONTAGE.

I'll see you all later once I start challenging again!

[When the video turns on, the person handling the Gear seems surprisingly calm—she's not remotely upset to be "suddenly displaced" somewhere new, she looks like it's just another day for her. A Wimpod is nestled in the hood of her jacket (an odd black trenchcoat-looking thing) dozing peacefully.]

I came home.

[It's the first thing the girl says, very simply, very factually. She has been in the world of Pokemon before and considers it home over where she was before. Nobody would remember, either, that when the girl first arrived she spoke with much less confidence than she does now.]

Riku? Vanitas? Are you guys still here? I hope Vani didn't mope too long when I left, I didn't mean to.

[A cheeky grin comes to her face after she says that, whoever Vanitas is to her this is evidently some kind of ploy to rile them up.]

A more general question for everyone: hi, I'm Xion. That's S-H-I-O-N, but the Gear probably lists me as X-I-O-N, I need to go back in and fix that. Did anybody end up with my Pokemon? I'm not gonna fight with you about it, if you're taking care of them, but I just wanna make sure they're safe. And…

[Xion stops, a serious look coming to her face.]

I think Silph kidnapped my Null, I'm definitely gonna fight them to get Saturn back.

[Well that's a very ambitious thing for a teenager to say.]

That's all for now, thanks. [With that, Xion just...very calmly turns the Gear off.]

POKEMON PROM

Time to get your party on! After a wave of Pidgey-delivered invitations swept across Johto and Kanto alike, the day has finally arrived!

Sevii is stunning this time of year, when the temperatures are merely warm instead of scorching like they are midsummer, and the April showers have all blown up north to douse the main peninsula for awhile. And to be quite frank, as Resort Gorgeous comes glimmering up on the horizon with palm trees swaying in the breeze and the faint, musical honks of Wingull drifting overhead, it's clear that it deserves its name.

Lady Selphy herself greets everyone departing the ferries, offering detailed maps of the resort and schedules boasting the many activities and services available. Meanwhile, a small army of smartly-dressed staff will happily direct everyone with luggage to get all set up in the tents along the beach.

As soon as that's taken care of?

Well, what's everybody waiting for?

Go forth and have yourself a tropical little vacation!

[Hello, world of Pokemon! It's Botan, she looks to be in some sort of volcanic-or-at-least-really-hot area when the video turns on, she's certainly not dressed in one of her usual kimonos or traditional-wear anyway because that would be insane in this heat. No, instead she's watching her Marowak and...an Alolan Marowak who seem to be doing...

Well. This.]

They've been fighting for hours now until it hit a stalemate...then they started doing this? Even I can't understand what exactly they're doing, Eiji-kun and Ms. Alola over here. They haven't been saying anything coherent.

[A pause. Botan's bewilderment is practically radiating off the screen.]

I think they might be...courting now?

[Pokemon are weird.]

I suppose that means I have my own Alolan Marowak and Eiji-kun has a lady friend.

[Gaige has been quiet lately...in fact she hates to admit it but she's very much neglected her blogging, v-logging, podcasting and every other form of social media she used to obsess over back home.

But she's also getting back in touch with her reclusive mad scientist side so instead of a nice loud post all you get is a simple text message.]

[It's been a while since Rakka was last seen on the PokeNetwork. To tell the truth, she's been busy working away at future contest plans, and planning for her next venture out to get a badge. Even while Botan was away on vacation, she wasn't resting too much.

Still doesn't explain why she's sending out a text at... is it really midnight already?

If you were able to use one hidden machine yourself what would it be?

This is probably going to sound really weird but I have a question about girls. I've never thought about it before back home since there were more important things going on, but|

[Gods, okay. Just relax - it's just a simple question, right? What could go wrong?]

What sort of things do they like? I mean, what do they find cute? I've thought about clothes but I don't know|

I don't know the sizes or anything so I was even thinking about a Pokemon but I think the ones that I'd find cute might scare or not be cute to some girls. I could probably take some ideas from TV or books or something too, though sometimes those can be a little

too dramatic
cyan_maid: Jane doesn't know what the fuck is going on (What is even going on?)
[personal profile] cyan_maid
[So thunderstorms usually aren't a big deal, right? It's a thing that happens, part of nature, and it's in March. March weather is supposed to be wacky. But there are some things that are too wacky for some people, and judging by Jane's expression as she turns on her 'gear, she is one of those people. It...looks like she's in the Department Store? And out near the entrance to the rooftop of all places?]

Um...so, maybe this isn't too weird in the grand scheme of this place, but...if you're not in a city, you need to see this.

[And Jane turns the camera to look out onto the rooftop, where three Electabuzz have gathered, all shouting loudly at each other in their ridiculous, babbling cry. One gestures out over to the Radio Tower, another is pointing to the rooftop they're currently on, and the third stands between them, growing more anxious and confused by the second.]

I think they're trying to pick out someplace to climb? But why in this weather-

[It's soon enough that Jane's own question is answered, when a lightning bolt strikes down and slams into the middle Electabuzz, sending the other two flying to opposite ends of the roof. She squeaks and backs away nervously, but you can still see the middle one as sparks trail over its arms and body, and it...smacks its lips and cries out in triumph?]

...What the fuck?!

Does anyone here have any experience with video game porting and cross-platform gameplay?
I got a game from home last Christmas, but only one copy of the hardware. I'm getting sick of grinding and playing against the AI and my Ambipom's been hoping to try the versus mode for ages, so I'd like to make it work on the Pokégear too. Game software isn't my specialty, though.
If someone can make it work, I'll happily share the game files. And grinding tips to get the most overpowered units. The rank 10 suits are SO worth dealing with those cheating boss levels.
Please contact me if you can help. Thanks in advance!
