[Video Post 001]

[The video clicks on, shaky and focused on an Audino wearing a pair of smart looking specs. She balances the Pokegear on the table, with enough room to just see the elbow of a person beside her. As the person begins talking she adjusts her glasses and begins pantomiming that its her that has that deep accented voice.]

My first video log here. I am told the town I am about to depart is called 'New Bark'. I have with my companion, Dahlia.

[The Audino makes the same motion that her trainer does towards her, only she makes it towards him and giggles before bumping her head happily against his arm. In turn she receives a pat on the head.]

My goal is to find my way back to Eos, if at all possible, as my duties there are of the utmost importance. In the mean time, I am told I should begin my travels. If this is a trick being played then so be it. I will take the path laid out and perhaps find my companions as well.

[Dahlia continues with a serious expression, paws resting together in a contemplative way. When Ignis stops talking she looks up at him.]

You can go ahead, Dahlia.

She nods and reaches, fumbling a little with the gear as her little hands were small. She chirrups happily, waving into the video then ends it.

[Jane is flabbergasted for a few minutes, watching the pantomime. It is...one of the cutest goshdarned things she's ever seen, and when she responds, her own Audino partner has joined her, looking a little bit too closely into the camera.]

I am very sorry, sir, but I don't know where Eos is or how you can get back there? However, you should know that your Audino is absolutely adorable - it seems like she was cut from the same cloth as my Dinah!

[She clears her throat a little.] Um, but I can try to answer some questions for you, if you like?

[ Ignis was thankful that the responses were via camera. He would have struggled trying to get the gear to read texts aloud. He wasn't even sure if it had the capability and Dahlia certainly couldn't read them.

Dahlia had a hold of the gear again, looking quite pleased with the compliment. She didn't try to balance it this time, was just holding it on her little belly as Ignis talked. ]

Thank you. I have a feeling that not many would know where separate worlds are. There is nothing to be done about it right now.

[ He wished he could actually tell what Dahlia looked like other than what his mind's eye gave him. ]

I suppose the only question I have is what is the best pathway to take from here.

[It was either camera or audio, and frankly, Jane is always happy to show Dinah the other Audinos she sees. They've just never popped up in the wild...]

I really am sorry. If what you've got to do is very important, it must be a pain not to be able to go back right away.

[She hums for a moment, while Dinah waves to Dahlia. Hi there!]

Well, I believe there is a ferry to the east that will take you to Kanto - that's a different region from this one, Johto. But if you go west, you'll have a route to navigate that will take you further into Johto, to Cherrygrove City for starters. Though, on that path, I highly advise not eating the berries you find in the wild. They're for Pokemon only, and they make humans sick. Overall, it mainly depends on where you want to go.

[ Dahlia looks excited when Dinah waves at her. She waves back, looking delighted. A hand enters the frame to gently tap her on the head. She reluctantly gives up the PokeGear, Ignis finally coming into the frame. ]

Westward then. I would prefer to stay on solid ground for the time being. I have enough food with me, though Dahlia may want some of the berries.

[ There was the sound of things being packed away. Dahlia was getting Ignis's bag into proper order for him. ]

I am told I can catch more of these creatures, are there many on the path?

[Dinah trills softly when Dahlia is no longer in the frame, slumping against Jane in disappointment. Jane has to bite back a chuckle, patting her Audino on the back. It's okay, sweetie.]

Oh yes! Though most commonly you'll find birds and rodent-like creatures to start. The species tend to vary the further you go - but they also get stronger. You'll want to train your new friend and any others you happen to catch.

[ Ignis turns his head slightly towards the Audino rustling around near by. A determined trill comes from Dahlia's direction that makes Ignis smirk slightly. ]

Training is something I can certainly handle. I suppose I should put together a team.

[ Though it would be nice to know what he was dealing with. This device supposedly could do that. ]

Is there... a speaking mode on this 'Pokegear'? Unfortunately, I will not be able to read anything it has to offer.

Teams are the ideal, here! I'd say you have a good plan in the making.

[She hums, a little...confused by the question, but she reaches over for her backpack and fishes out her guide, taking a look.]

Let's see...I know that things like Pokedex entries - ah, if you point it at a Pokemon, it will tell you about it - that's spoken aloud. And there's a sort of private message function that works just like this, with video and audio and text...but as for a general speaking mode, I'm not sure.

[But hey, that could change in the future, it's possible. Technology updates all the time.]

[ Ignis would have to fuss with it, he supposed. He hoped there were more audio modes or else this gear would be far more difficult to use than expected. Still, it had more options than his old phone did.

He tested it by pointing it in the direction of rustling, without looking as it would do him no good. The gear started talking in the background of the video, explaining the basics of an Audino. ]

Ah, I see. It will be a little difficult to utilize but it will be a great help. I appreciate you telling me. You sound .. young.

[Take some time and fuss, and he'll hit the audio function eventually.]

Ah, well, I'm only seventeen, sir. ["Sound", he said...so...hm. It'd be rude to ask.] My name is Jane. What's yours?

[ Seventeen. He honestly couldn't say anything against it. He had started his training at six years of age. ]

I see. I hope that.. You are keeping safe.

[ That sounded strange. Ignis was used to taking care of others even if he knew them to be capable. ]

Ignis Scientia. I appreciate your assistance. It has been a bit of a struggle.

I am! Don't worry, my Pokemon are very strong, and I can defend myself should I need to - but the opportunity doesn't come up too often in this place. The people here let their Pokemon battle more often than not.

[Honestly, adult concern is...a little weird, but something she's really missed. The sentiment is very much appreciated.]

Well, you're very welcome, Mister Ignis. Don't be a stranger on here, alright? Those of us with these 'gears, we're a good bunch, I've found - very willing to help one another if need be.

I'm glad to hear. Mine are.. young, I suppose the correct word is...

[ Dahlia chirrups happily, ears lifting as she thumps her head against Ignis's arm jovially. She would protect Ignis!!

Ignis smiled slightly at her friendliness, then nods to the girl. 'Mister Ignis' wasn't something he heard every day... ]

I will try not to be. Please take care.

It's as good a word as any.

[Dinah nods once, firmly, and gives Dahlia a thumbs up. Go for it!]

You too, alright?

[Noctis had been in the midst of going to work at one of the restaurants in town, checking his 'gear as he walked when this particular video came on. He stumbled and managed not to fall on his face because of Bean catching him, the Snorlax immediately worried because of the look on her trainer's face.

He was at a loss for a words as he sank against Bean, trying to find his voice before finally squeaking out a reply--]

Ignis?!

[ Ignis was startled by the sound of the familiar voice. He'd been going through the items that had been given to him, feeling out each one carefully so he could identify what was what without mistaking anything.

Dahlia was playing with the gear, listening to the videos being sent and having her trainer reply. But then the gear was suddenly snatched from her paws.

Upside down. ]

Noct! Is that really you?! It's been too long since-- Dahl--

[ Dahlia was taking the gear back, flipping it around in Ignis's hands before shoving herself up into his lap so her blue eyes could be seen at the bottom of the picture peering up. Now the camera was focused properly on Ignis's face. ]

Apologies, I had it facing the wrong direction. Noct, are you well? Are you safe?

[Dahlia's interruption gives Noctis a chance to get himself together, standing straight as Bean lingers close and Carbuncle, now a lime green Espeon, clambers up onto his shoulder.]

Yeah it--it's fine don't worry. And I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be--

[Hold on. He takes a really good look at the other man and realizes something isn't very..very wrong.]

Ignis what happened to your face?

[ Ignis looked startled at the question. That was.. not a question he epxected. ]

My face? Nothing recently, as far as I know. Unless there is food?

[ Now he was mildly concerned, reaching up to pull his glasses off to touch around his cheeks gently. Then he patted the table gently to pick up a napkin and wipes his mouth again. Dahlia took the napkin and hopped off his lap to go throw it away as Ignis replaced his glasses on his face. ]

Better? I apologize, I had hoped the first time seeing me I wouldn't be a mess or over a video.. Noct, it's.. more than good to hear your voice, its been too long.

[ A small pink paw poked back into the video, offering another napkin because Dahlia could hear the slight wobble in Ignis's voice. ]

No that's not--

[His words die almost immediately as Ignis pulls his glasses off and he can see the scars now; see how bad it actually is. It had been obvious that something was up given how much help the Audino was giving Ignis but this was not..this isn't...]

Ignis, your eyes--what happened? You were fine the last time I--and what do you mean it's been too long? I was--everyone said that time stops when we come here! That people back home don't even realize we're gone!

[Had he been lied too?

Carbuncle's ears flick then fall back as he looks at Noct, picking up on the torrent of thoughts going on in the Prince's head.

This wasn't good.]

[ Ignis feels the napkin poking at his arm and he takes it with a small thank you murmured to the little pink beast. Noctis's distress brought him back to the conversation rather sharply though.

Noctis wasn't talking sense entirely. The last time Ignis had saw him was before the young man was running to the Crystal... ]

I..

[ Was this a conversation they should be holding over a video call? It seemed inappropriate but it also wouldn't be the first time bad news came over a phone line for any of them. ]

I feel we are a bit.. The last time I saw you, Noctis, was in Gralea. This is not a recent injury, I was blinded in Altissia, after--

[ Wait. Wait. He pulled in a breath, clearly reining himself back in. If Noctis knew nothing of Ignis's injury then he knew nothing of the battle with Leviathan. Of Lunafreya... ]

This is no conversation to be held over a device. Where would I be able to meet you? I am certain I can find my way, despite whatever noise is permeating the air.

[ Dahlia maybe giggled, a little titter of squeaks that got her a sightless glare shot her way. Ignis certainly found none of this amusing. ]

Gralea? Altissa--but we never--we haven't been to Altissa yet!

[He's starting to panic a bit, his voice breaking as his head spins. What is even going on? How--what is Ignis--

Wait. Wait this..this is one of those time things, isn't it? The same sort of thing as how Prompto didn't remember any of their trip yet. But Ignis is...how much further ahead is he?

Noctis takes a deep breath, startling as Bean sets a large paw on his shoulder and he looks up at her, trying to calm down as Carbuncle licks his ear.]

Yeah I...we'll have to come to you. Prompto and I can use the warp pads to meet you in--you're on the road from New Bark, right? So you're heading towards Cherrygrove. We can come get you there.

[ Ah.

So Ignis was correct in that Noctis had no memory. Or at least.. hadn't experienced it yet. Perhaps Noct had a better understanding of time here. They would do better working together and-- ]

Prompto is here as well? Then perhaps Gladio is somewhere as well..

[ Too much to hope for that things would be so easy. But the distress in Noct's voice was too clear. ]

Noct, we will sort this out. Stay calm. Cherrygrove, that is at the end of Route 29, correct? Dahlia..

[ There was a chirrup and Dahlia was back in the frame, pointing then remembering that Ignis couldn't see where she was pointing. ]

Dahlia will help me. I will attempt to get there quickly, but there are no guarantees. Please, do not over extend yourself. I will come to you and--

[ Suddenly the Pokegear was knocked from Ignis's hands. There was irritated chirping and the camera would get a shot of chubby pink legs running about. Then the gear being dragged away before Dahlia could rescue it. The gear was abandoned in the grass as there were angry Audino noises and what sounded like hyperactive mewing.

Ignis finds the gear by the sound of the video, picking it back up. ]

My apologies. I seem to have been.. swarmed. I will meet you and Prompto in Cherrygrove. I will speak to you then.

[ Then the connection ended as someone starts talking to Ignis. ]

Your Pokeman's mocking you.

[Sasha says it with a giggle because gosh, she too agrees it's adorably cute and the Deerling who shoves her face into the camera agrees as well. They're both sure the man doesn't mind his Audino acting that way, not with that friendly pat.]

I don't know where Eos is, sir. I've never heard of it, so that means it's probably far, far away. I'm sorry, Mister.

[She sounds genuinely apologetic about the bad news too.]

[ Oh this human traitor. Dahlia puffed her cheeks out at the woman in the message, looking quite cross before the gear was snatched from her paws. ]

She's doing what? Dahlia!

[ Ignis came into view of the camera, looking irritated. He hadn't even had to deal with this type of play from Prompto. He had no idea what Dahlia was doing but it wasn't something he wanted to allow the continuance of. ]

It's perfectly alright. It seems to be something I will have to handle on my own. Are you from this world or from another?

[Dahlia, please. Get over yourself.]

You didn't notice her doing that?

[Sasha frowns. Sure, she spoke her thoughts outloud because what is an actual inside voice, but did he not notice? His face is all scarred up, mostly around his eye area... Is he blind?

Ah, suddenly she feels bad for finding this scene amusing.]

Another. Dauper is also very far away from here, but it's better that way. It's not a good place to live in.

[That's if you get to live long at all.]

No, unfortunately. Perhaps she is more playful than originally suspected.

[ Ignis didn't acknowledge that yes, he was blind. He didn't care if someone found amusement at his expense. Honestly, he was at a point in his life where it didn't really matter so long as no one was getting hurt.

Dahlia was already trying to poke her face back in to make faces at Sasha. ]

I see... I must say, the world I come from is in a similar state. But.. It is home.

[No need to acknowledge it. She won't say anything if he doesn't. Sasha is too far polite to point out other people's shortcomings nor is she the type to laugh at their predicament once she's aware of it. Ignis might not be offended, but she knows that the act is generally frowned up, plus, she's been a victim of it herself. It didn't feel nice.]

Do your world has Titans too, Mister? [He said similar and a Titan-filled world is all Sasha knows. It's kind of terrifying, this thought, that other places have that potential danger to them.] Even if you do, I hope you get to go home soon like you want to. I'd rather stay here, though. Forever. It's really not bad. I can eat and sleep as much as I want without having to wake me up at dawn to train!

[The really important things, there.]

Titans...? There is only one, but he... is on our side, we would like to think. We have Daemons. Beasts of darkness that infect our people and come at night.

[ So really, not too different in concept, if only they understood one another better. ]

Going home means defeating them. I understand other words may have it differently.

[ This girl sounded young. She sounded like eating and sleeping as much as she wanted was exactly what she needed and deserved. He gave her one of his rare, small smiles. ]

Then I hope you remain here for as long as you live.

Only one? We have so many, maybe millions. Titan eat people, day or night. I mean, they seem to move a little slower at night, but they'll still eat you in the dark because they don't care.

[Titans aren't smart enough to tell time either, but that's a small unimportant detail in the grand scheme of things.]

Going home for me means I might not live. [Sasha is young, not even sixteen yet, but she's seen and suffered so much. So many events that she's never been given room to talk about before so she doesn't realize how morbid her side of the conversation is and that this man might not want to hear about it.] If my friends got to come here, maybe they could have stayed here and lived too.

[She shrugs, a motion Ignis obviously can't see, yet she does it anyway.]

We all knew what we were getting into when we joined the military, I guess.

[ It was a terrible thing to hear. Similar to his own world, though.. the bodies were ravaged more than eaten. If they found bodies at all. With an eternal night it was dangerous regardless of where you tried to hide.

Noctis would repair..-- well Noctis was here. But not quite the Noctis Ignis knew. It was all complicated. He would be glad to iron things out when he found them.

The young age Sasha sounded and her mention of the military didn't bother Ignis. He had started his life as Noctis's steward at six years old after all. ]

I hope more of your friends are able to escape to here. This world seems to have its own monsters but none seem likely to eat your.

Maybe. But a few of them that were here went back home. I don't know why, though. None of us want to be there.

[And that worries her. Maybe it wasn't any of their choices to leave, just whatever brought them here decided to take them back without any warning. She doesn't want to go back. She'd fight against it if she could, but if she has no say in it, Sasha will just worry if today is the day she gets sent home.]

A lot of my friends are dead, though, so they can't come here anyway. They'd like the monsters that won't eat us.

I understand. I have lost many over the years myself.

[ He wanted to say she was too young to be dealing with any of this but everyone felt they were too young. Everyone should be allowed to live a long, peaceful life. ]

I hope that for as long as you are here you can make many more friends and happy memories.

[ And perhaps the world would let her stay. ]

[When the video response starts it's not a person on the other end but another Audino, Queenie twilling happily and waving with one paw at the other pink helper.

There's a soft bark from off screen and Queenie giggles softly before sitting down so Roxy, Newt's Rockruff companion, can see as well. The pup's tail bobs and she let's out another bark before yawning, looking pleased but tired.

Queenie? What are you doing over there?

[The sound of footsteps accompanies the voice and the Audino happily let's her trainer take the 'gear, Newt coming into view looking rather flustered.]

My apologies, I wasn't aware she had connected.

[ Ignis had taken the gear to work with it, which the camera was facing more towards the underside of Ignis's face as he was feeling out the buttons. ]

It's quite alright. I must admit it is a comfort to hear a Tenebrae accent.

[ Perhaps this was a weird paralleled world caused by the Starscourage? It was difficult to tell, but if it were so then he was sure to find the others.

At least.. find Gladio and Prompto. ]

How did you come to be here? Were you near daemons?

Tenebrae? My apologies but I've never heard of such a place. I'm from England.

[His tone is apologetic and perhaps a bit curious. While he's definitely invested in learning everything he can about Pokemon, he's been hearing about a lot of very interesting places since arriving here.]

Ah, no. I was on a boat back to England from America--at least that's the last thing I remember.

[ No, Ignis didn't recognize any of those place names either. So they were from differen't worlds. He wondered if this was some strange gateway to a variety of different worlds. How many of these creatures were from strange places as well? Or were they strictly from this land? ]

I see. I had.. laid down for the night. Not that it is ever day any more.

[ Not that he noticed the difference anyway. ]

So are you new to this world as well?

You don't have daylight where you come from?

[Interesting..and strange. There had to be some sort of reason for it. Someone is a bit too oblivious to realize that it may be a sore subject.]

I am, yes. Fairly new by a couple weeks now. I only just made it to Cherrygrove myself.

No, not any longer.

[ Ignis's tone suggested he wasn't in any mood to continue talking about it at the moment. They would have daylight again eventually, but the loss.. It wasn't something he needed to be thinking about right now. ]

I see. I am setting out for Cherrygrove, to meet up with people I know from my world. It wasn't exactly.. expected. But we will see where this path takes us.

[A soft hum is Newt's response before he shifts to the other topic completely, taking a seat now and allowing Queenie up onto his lap.]

I've been told it makes living here much easier if you have familiar faces from home. Hopefully you'll be able to meet with them sooner rather than later.

[ Dahlia was delighted by Queenie, deciding they should talk low under their Trainers. She complimented Newt, little cheeks a bit pinker ]

I hope so as well. They are.. very important to me. I take it you are not here with anyone?

[Queenie giggled, paws to her mouth as she glanced up at Newt then back to Dahlia. She adores him and all of his awkwardness.]

I am not, no, but it..I'm honestly not that bothered by it. I do my best work alone, in terms of studying creatures, and I'll be alright with my current companions.

[ Dahlia really could see why, Newt was definitely hands-cu--a good trainer. That's how she would put it. Not that her's wasn't! ]

I was spoiled by the companionship of others. Ten years without it and .. I suppose I miss it to a degree. I wish you the best of luck on your journey though it sounds as if you will not need it.

[Giving the other Audino a knowing little grin, Queenie chirps merrily. It's okay! She totally understands. Your trainer is pretty handsome too, Dahlia!]

Understandable. And luck is never terrible thing to have so I appreciate the sentiment, Mr...We didn't exchange names did we?

[Her trainer was broken though. See? Dahlia motions up to Ignis's face. But she would keep him safe!]

We haven't. Ignis Scientia. It's good to meet you.

[That doesn't mean he's no good! He has lots of potential! Queenie coos happily now, resting back against Newt. Take good care of him, okay?]

A pleasure to meet you as well, Mr. Scientia. My name is Newt Scamander.

[Dahlia nods, of course he had potential!! She would make sure he had everything a human needed.]

A pleasure. Perhaps we will meet on the road. I should be off. Take care.
