[The video clicks on displaying the ocean waters off the Olivine Beach. Splashing about in the water are five Magikarp and a single Gyarados who just seems rather disgruntled about life but is happy to be out with the small little fish.]

So we've been hanging out having a little bit of a training session. Sort of.

[Turning the 'gear, Noctis smiles a bit, shrugging.]

As much of one as Magikarp can have, I mean. Sti--Leviathan's been doing really good! Cast seems to be getting into as well.

[He turns the 'gear back towards the water where Leviathan and Cast seem to be having a splash battle against one another.

Noctis wades out into the water a bit now, keeping the camera on the fish.]

I really wish I could have everyone out here, I've got six other Magikarp that I don't have out right now, but I can always swap them out later. Oh, and that's Splash--

[He points, making sure anyone watching can see.]

--she ended up in my box after someone named Asgore left. She's..pretty upset about it.

[As if to make the point clear, Splash turns towards Noctis and let's out a roar, spraying him and the camera with water.]

Hey!

[She roars again and this prompts Leviathan and Cake to get involved, the two carp swimming over and flopping through the water in front of their trainer as if to tell the Gyarados off.]

Guys, back off, it's--

[Splash rumbles loudly and starts to attack with Aqua Tail as Noctis yelps just seconds before a bright flash of light fills the screen.

The light starts to fade as a chorus of roars fills the air and when everything is visible again, Noctis is sitting in the water, drenched, while three Gyarados fight among themselves just visible on camera.]

...Shit.

[A beat as Cecil watches, his mouth slightly open. And then-]

Two Gyarados at once, three in total, and not a single one of them tried to bite your head off! You've obviously been taking very good care of them. I've no doubt the other nine will catch up soon.

[His tone is horrifyingly cheery.]

[Hauling himself upright and grabbing his 'gear in the process, Noctis starts to trudge back towards the shore while giving Cecil a rather dry look.]

I have a feeling that would be a really bad idea.

I didn't even realize Leviathan and Cast were ready to evolve! It takes forever to level them up and I guess I just...stopped paying attention.

It'd not do much for your team's type coverage, I admit, but Gyarados are both powerful battlers and loyal companions, once you earn their friendship.

[Deliberately ignoring what the actual problem would be, thank you very much.]

I do hope the surprise was worth the effort spent training them. Too many trainers ignore them and their potential completely, instead of merely losing track of their current level.

[Thida's mouth falls open to see TWO Magikarps evolve, and then THREE fighting Gyarados. She knew there was quite a lot of diversity in the ocean, just by virtue of so many races evolving from it in her world, but this is...]

W-Whoa...whoa!! Gonna make a tidal wave!!

Hopefully it doesn't come to that. I'm not sure anyone here in Olivine would appreciate it.

[He's back on the beach now, running a hand through his sopping wet hair as he let's out a sigh.]

At least none of the others evolved?

Yeah I've been told that. Honestly I just really like Magikarp which is why I have so many but I won't say no to Gyarados. I just..wasn't expecting three at once.

[Look if he can't play the "This is fine" game then neither can you!]

It'll be worth it once I get everyone calmed down. [Setting the gear down on a piece of drift wood, Noct peels his wet jacket off.] Everyone always ask why I bother with Magikarp and I guess this is part of the reason?

Maybe y'gotta get the no evolve stone? Think they got it in Goldenrod...

Everstones? I had one but I think I must have lost it while we were on the road. I should look into getting some more.

[ On the one hand, this is totally karma for giving him a Magikarp and not telling him it could evolve into an Eastern dragon. Oh the other, he doesn't want to take the piss too much- ]

Yeah, I kind of do like the Magikarp better--

[They're his favorites, okay. Not that he doesn't appreciate how badass the Gyarados are or anything. He just prefers the Karp themselves.]

That wasn't honestly my plan but I guess it would be kind of badass?

[He smiles lopsidedly, rubbing at the back of his neck.]

Are they gonna be alright? Can't Gyarados like...wreck entire cities to ruins when they're pissed off? [ And having three of them go at it seems a great way to create the next Atlantis. thank God Dish was pretty mellow, all things considered. ]

Wait, and you got...Splash, right? From someone who left too?

They should be. Splash isn't really a bad Pokemon she's just upset. [He looks out towards the water where the three seem to be..starting to calm down?] I think Leviathan and Cast were just being protective.

[Noct focuses on the 'gear again.]

Yeah, she showed up in my box a week or so ago.

Shit man...here's hoping she'll realise how much you love Magikarps and all and settles with ya. Does it happen in waves dya think? People coming and going?

I hope so. Her settling down, I mean.

[His expression falls a bit as he shrugs.]

I don't know..I hope that's not the case but...who knows how it works.

[ Ash sighed. ]

Yeah...of all the people to end up with, I'd say she picked a winner tho, given your Magikarp school and all. Did you know Asgore well?

[For a moment the prince looks a little sheepish before shaking his head.]

I think I spoke to him maybe once or twice? I'm not sure why she ended up with me but I'm glad she did.

Huh...well I mean. I was gearing up to be as supportive as I can but- [ He gives a half shrug ] Yeah.

Oh! [ Suddenly he realised ] Dude, did I show you Macavity lately? He's evolved too!

[Noctis snorts softly.]

I appreciate the sentiment, Ash. But I'm okay.

[At least it wasn't someone he was really good friends with. Hopefully that day never comes.

An eyebrow goes up and he grins now.]

Oh? Let me see him!

It's actually kinda funny. Carbuncle became an Espeon, right? [ He lets out Macavity and- there's a shiny Umbreon hopping into his lap, looking at the screen curiously. On seeing Noctis he wagged his tail, giving an excited cry. hey friend! ]

[Noctis's grin brightens when he sees Macavity, a laugh bubbling up.

Funny that they'd get a complimenting duo.]

Well look at you! Carbuncle's going to be really excited to see you.

Mhm. Got it.

[I mean just because something evolves into something else doesn't mean you can't still like it, right?

[Noctis grins and nods.]

[The fighting behind his has calmed down quite a bit which gives Leviathan the opportunity to come over and bump Noctis with his head.

Except he doesn't realize his strength just yet and sends the prince to the ground.]

[She's peering very closely into the 'gear like that's going to help her see better. It's kind of cute.]
