[The video clicks on, Maya is standing by a window.]

I know people have been talking about the monsters from the portals acting friendlier this time around. Or not fighting them and then they'll leave?

Well, I ended up in a few fights with one when I was out walking and training. I kept beating it in battles and now I think it's following me.

Look, it's still out there. It'll probably attack if I go out.

[She'll turn the camera to show outside off in the distance. Yup it's a Buzzwole. Of course Maya would manage to get a Buzzwole to follow her around. She'll flip the camera back to her. She doesn't seem that worried, oddly enough.]

Anyone else have something like this happen? Or advice? I mean, I'll keep fighting it when it attacks, but somehow I don't think that's going to drive it off. Maybe a trap of some sort.

[It’s evening when the video opens, the video shows the sun is just about set in a field. It would be almost a calm scene if it wasn’t for Ray grinning like an idiot at the camera. He can barely contain his excitement but he gets himself to speak in a hushed voice.]

So you know those weird dimensional rifts we’ve been getting? The one that’s spewing out those interdimensional beings? Well guess who I found while I went out training today.

[He turns the camera around and OH GOD WHAT IS THAT?

The Stakataka isn’t looking at the camera right now, instead they’re just… gently crouching down and poking at a tiny Pokepuff that Ray presumably gave them.]

Yeah I ran into these guys today, and they’re surprisingly nice! I guess if you’re able to tell them that you don’t mean any harm they don’t want to attack you! Which, I guess that makes sense once you think about it. Sure we wake up in another dimension out of nowhere, but we have the convenience of having people easily explain to us what’s going on and that we’re not in any danger!

Which, I’m not exactly sure this guy over hears understands a word I say. I’ve been trying to communicate with this poor guy but they don’t even respond when I shout “Hey, you!” at them. [True to his word, the Stakataka doesn’t look up from their Pokepuff. Ray looks over fondly at the hulking beast as if it was a newly adopted pet] Still, I like to think I made great progress in a day!

I do miss fighting horrifying ghosts and monsters, don’t get me wrong. I would give anything to fight Cthulhu or the Boogieman again, but it’s nice being able to befriend these guys. It’s not every day you can say that you’re able to befriend a giant sentient rock structure from another dimension.

[The Stakataka suddenly looks up over at Ray, and stomps over to him. If Ray’s worried by him suddenly moving, he doesn’t show it as he just lightly looks over to them. They then lift a large leg aiming right at Ray’s head…

And they gently start patting his head, really delicately that you’d almost think that the Stakataka was terrified of crushing Ray if they put any amount of pressure on him. Ray laughs happily at this.]

See? Stuff like this never happened at home! These guys are really great!

[...Well that happened.]

-- it's not that bad, we just need a flashlight.

[Comes Shiro's voice. The 'gear is pointed at the ground for the moment. Waving around awkwardly as the person holding it tries to figure out which end is up. In the process of righting it, the camera pans past a signpost.]

[DIGLETT TUNNEL AHEAD]

[And sure enough, once the camera is settled, viewers get a nice shot of Shiro's back. Peering down a dark tunnel. The camera-person scuttles forward, and judging from it's height and squeaks? This is Blue the Gallade, filming once again.]

[Once Blue draws even with Shiro, the man glances aside at his pokemon, scowling slightly.]

What are you filming this for? [There's some more squeaks. While Shiro's expression turns into a raised eyebrow.] What? No -- Heather's said a lot of things. That's what friends do, Blue. They talk.

[SQUEAK SQUEAKER SQUEAK]

We're checking it out, that's all. If we don't like it, we'll take the long way to the next town.

[And so, determinedly, Shiro fishes in his backpack, returning with a flashlight. Murmuring something to himself about paranoid Gallades... he shines the light into the cave. At the same time, Blue turns the camera to record the sight...]

[The sight of hundreds of eyes shining from ground level. Just like Heather Mason had warned them about, a long while back.]

[Shiro shouts something -- probably not PG rated -- and so does Blue. Shutting off the recording.]

Aaaah, almos' forgot!!

[A fire had been lit in Thida after the news of people she had known leaving for home hit her hard in the heart. There wasn't any time to waste being sad and not making memories or new friends when she had specifically asked everyone a very important question last month. It's just...well...it's been a long trip back and forth, and she's been tired, and Inklings always sleep in late without question. You can imagine it had slipped her mind to announce anything right as it happened.

But, anyway, the feed on the 'Gear hastily turns to two Pokemon sitting on a couch. There's an Omanyte, settled in as if the threadbare cushions were a throne of the highest magnitude, and an Anorith, who honestly just looks happy to be here.]

So, I went to th'museum place, in Pewter City, to make sure my fossils were good for becomin' Pokemon? 'N they changed 'em back for me, look! They're livin'!

[She gets close to the Omanyte. It deigns her a haughty glance.]

This is Omni!

[Then to the Anorith! It chirp-clicks and wiggles its front pincer things.]

This is Nosu!

[Then back to Thida, who's grinning from ear to ear.]

Fossils is so cool! We looked at th'museum stuff, too, 'n saw more Pokemon, 'n bones...don't like th'bones in me here, but, those were cool bones! Super old! 'N all the science stuff made sense, it wasn't hard t'understand!

[Thida............]

Omni 'n Nosu like chairs already, so, that's good. And Pokemon food. Still gotta show 'em other future stuff, though. What stuff should we do first?

[Since the Camp Alpha incident, Thida's hung around Violet of her own volition, helping out at the Ruins of Alph at first, and then just sort of settling in the area. She's been lost in thought, you see, and finally she's decided it's about time to ask the network about something that's bothered her for a while.

So, with the calm midday atmosphere of the Pokemon Center in the background, Thida sits cross-legged on one of its couches and holds up two fossils.]

Do these do things?

[It's asked rather bluntly. Yes, Thida knows what a fossil is, in general, but this world has some pretty unique rocks and plants that aren't Pokemon that do really incredible things! Ergo, must ask about fossils.]

This one, [she holds up the Helix Fossil] I got it a couple years ago? Been holdin' onto it. 'N then the letters at th'camp gave me this one, [Helix is lowered, Claw Fossil is held up.] They're nice, but...kinda heavy...if they do a thing, I wanna do the thing. Anybody know?

[Someone tell her where you can revive these bad boys.]

[Well, time to get this over with. Maya appears on the screen. From the background you can tell she's in a pokemon center of some sort. She looks annoyed]

So apparently someone forgot to mention the fact that you can go to sleep for about a week and also be back in your own world at the same time. Somehow? I'd assume it was a really detailed dream if Krieg and I both didn't have the same one. So any information on the sleep, going home thing would be appreciated.

[Hey, can you hear yelling in the background? If you know Krieg, feel free to recognize his voice. What he's yelling....is totally unintelligible. Good sign, yes? Maya just keeps looking at the camera. Apparently she's used to the noise.]

And as it turns out, having a bunch of memories dropped back into your head after forgetting them isn't the best way to wake up. ...or get back to normal in this place.

Thank you though, to whoever dragged Krieg and I to the pokecenter in Violet City after ....whatever the hell that attack was. We're probably not going to stick around here though. I think we need a place to regroup for a while.

[Maya is totally calm. The fact that she's sitting next to what is clearly a smashed clock is nothing to worry about.]

[It may be a rainy afternoon - a bit stormy, even - but this video is being filmed anyway, albeit heavily zoomed in and from a seat indoors. It's a video of a Surskit and a Dewpider, floating on top of a pond with their natural water tension.

Or, well, floating is probably the wrong word for this. The Dewpider bows and extends one of his limbs to the Surskit, almost as though asking for a dance. The Surskit appears to accept, and then the two of them start skating over the pond together, almost to a melody that only they can hear. Or, well, if there is music for them, it can't be heard from here, in any case...

Regardless, the feed is left watching them, but a sleepy-sounding voice decides to narrate. ...To one definition of narrate, anyway.]

Hello everyone!

I'm going to be tackling my very first Gym at the end of the week and I was wondering if anyone has tips for the one in Ecruteak?

I've only ever battled trainers I meet in town and on the roads, but it's very important I get the Fog Badge.

[Her whole summer depends on it!]

But my team and I are very excited, and any advice would be very appreciated. Once we get the badge, I'm going on my first human vacation!

It would seem this world delights in embarrassing me!

[With this announcement, Shadowmaru turns the camera on. He's standing in the kitchen of his little cottage in Olivine, looking completely put out. Why is this?]

[Because there's a bug on his head. Not just any bug. But a shiny Venipede. Who waves its antennae menacingly at the camera, squinting. The little bug may not have hands, or a super expressive face, but this is as close to a COME AT ME BRO as a bug can get.]

Is there a reason I am besieged with unflattering animals at every turn? First the plethora of water types, and now this.

What even is this?

[Behind him, his Frogadier gives the most long-suffering sigh. Looking at the screen in a mute plea. Someone please tell Shadowmaru to use his 'gear. Kero has tried.]

[Nobody asked for it.

But it's Her again, Botan, ya deathmom.

She's tapping at something off-screen and sort of...perplexed.]

Well, if this calendar is right it's saying I've been in this world for six years now.

I suppose it's time for me to pensively reflect on my time and ask a leading question or whatever to get discussion going.

But honestly I'm amazed, like bloody--[she pauses]--heck, I would have thought I'd be home by now.

[How did that even happen.]

By the by--[she turns the Gear away from herself to point at a shiny Vullaby]--I got this little one after the incident at our latest dance. I'm not sure why, but I felt like I should call her Karin--and she won't stop asking for "the manager" no matter how many times I tell her I'm the manager of this shop.

[Hey, it's Newt again. She's sitting next to some books by an inn bed and if you look off to the side you can see one of those newer pokemon, the blue one, sitting next to an Eevee. The Eevee seems to have a plastic dolls head with them. There is also a Luxray sitting next to them as though keeping them safe from something.]

Hi. I have a question for people who went to school.

What are the really important things you learnt there? I only got to grade two before- ...I came here and there's no schools but I still want to learn stuff. I know reading and math are important. And there's spelling and science things but I don't really know what the other stuff is.

What's important to learn?

[Well, it's taken some time, but since the year is officially on its way to summer (even if it is raining today), Thida's back in mainland Johto. Thanks to Krieg, she has a little more experience in the water and a marked improvement in overcoming her fear of it; it's a process, but there's been progress.

It's just a shame there's one less person to surprise with that progress.

So, of course she's got out her father's guitar. Of course she's playing it. But there's an incredible improvement from the last time she (unknowingly) played it on the network; this time it's deliberate, the 'gear on and resting steadily as she tunes and checks the sound of everything. A lot of her smaller Pokemon are gathered around her to listen: Babie the Sobble watches her fingers on the strings with wide eyes as he wiggles his own little chameleon hands, Rase the Paras is asleep and pressed flush against his trainer's crossed legs while Poko the Tepig trots back and forth, a little miffed that the guitar is in Thida's lap and not him. Kuro the Umbreon is in a rare moment of calm as his ears twitch, attuning to the sounds, and Asyu the Morelull is perched between them, staring, of course, right at the 'gear as if wanting to be unsettling on purpose. Rami the Sableye and Keccha the Pumpkaboo are sitting together to the side (or, well, Rami sits while Keccha rests her pumpkin self on the ground next to him), a willing audience.

When Thida feels that she's done enough tuning, she lets out a breath and looks at the 'gear.]

Wanted t'play a song. For friends who leave. Even if they can't hear...it's for them.

[And she proceeds to play. The song is a bit slower than what's presented in the video, and obviously only the acoustics; occasionally Thida hums, but since the words that come out of her mouth aren't in Inkling she doesn't want to try singing. Still, it's a nice song, bittersweet in a way, soft and sad and longing.

It's. It's good. Nice to listen to. Pulls on the heartstrings a bit. It's definitely pulling on Thida's, if her dewey eyes are anything to go on, and all her Pokemon cease their fidgeting and listen, some bowing their heads in respect for the music. When she finishes, she sniffs and pats the body of the guitar gently.]

Mm...thanks. [She looks back to the 'gear, seeming to remember her other audience.] Ah, sorry...but thanks, if y'listened. 'M sad, but...I didn't wanna cry.

Hey everybody!

I'm gonna be heading up to Mahogany for a little bit, and I was thinking, since I'll be there...

Mount Mortar! Is it worth it to really delve into it? I've never actually seriously gone into it before and explored it all the way through. I'm not looking for any specific types or anything, but I know there's some rare fire kinds that you can sometimes find so obviously I'll be keeping my eyes out....

But I'm mostly asking if it's worth it from a recreational cave diving perspective.

[Korra apparently didn't get enough excitement at prom.]

Wingulls wheel and dive in the salty springtime air of Olivine City's harbor, as white as the gleaming sides of the ship moored directly below. The S.S. Aqua isn't an infrequent visitor in the slightest, but this time it's for a very special occasion! Colorful banners stream from the sides, each one proudly declaring the word PROM in glittery font.

The boarding starts around noon on Friday, and the sight of the huge ship alone is enough to get many people and Pokemon swept up in the party atmosphere. The captain is even there when the ramp is rolled out, wanting to welcome each otherworlder onto the boat personally with a hearty handshake and (mentioning he's a renowned 'people reader'), a recommendation on what part of the cruise he thinks they'll like best based solely on a glance. Weirdly enough, guests might find that he's usually right!

Unsurprisingly, it takes a good long while for everyone to get on board and accounted for, which leaves each guest with plenty of time to find their rooms, dump their luggage, let their Pokemon out to stretch their legs a little, and finally head back to the deck to wave goodbye to the harbor as the SS Aqua heads out onto the open water.

IT'S FINALLY HERE, THE BEST TIME OF YEAR!

[There are some shuffling noises, and then the camera shakes as it is picked up and turned over. For a moment it captures Armin’s face on the camera, still looking flushed and pleased with himself, the little Sobble up on his shoulder.
