13th Run // The Safari Of a Lifetime

Who: Ash and Noctis!
Where: The Safari Zone
When: 16th October, until they get ~~kidnapped to Nightmare Forest~~ kicked out
Summary: Ash and Noctis enter the Safari Zone, with no responsible adults, a lot of Pokeballs and plenty of mischief in mind. God help the rangers.

"Finally! After travelling land and sea, facing countless monsters that challenged them to battle, helpful citizens willing to offer aid and many other dangers and sleepless nights on their quest, the noble Prince and his steadfast Knight came across this protected land of rare and powerful beasts. After bartering with the gatekeepers of these varied, exotic plains, they enter, with only their own wits and a few capturing devices to tame these creatures, and to convince them to become their allies in future campaigns for peace and justice across this strange world they had mysteriously arrived in so many moons ago!"

Ash gestured to the 'zones' laid out before them with a sweep of his hand, grinning playfully. At his side Macavity was wagging his tail, eager to join them in exploring the Safari Zone and yipping excitedly. If there was one thing Ash could do, it was make something sound epic.
"So, where shall we start?" He cut the act, falling into a more relaxed pose than the purposefully upright stance and grand gesturing he'd been doing upon 'announcing' their tale thus far. He actually pered at the map in Noctis' hands. "There's a couple I really wanna go to...and one that I wanna veto, if that's alright?"

See this is why Noctis loved traveling with Ash. Even in the midst of all the nightmares and weird stuff going on, he found ways to make everything fun and lighthearted.

"Which one do you want to veto? I definitely want to go to some of the water areas--the beach especially, if you're okay with that," Noct mused, turning the map slightly so Ash could see better.

At his feet, Carbuncle let out a giggle, twin tails flicking about as he bounced on his paws.

"Let's go, let's go!"

"I'm totally down for the beach! But ur...the Wasteland doesn't sound great." From what he could see of it from here, and from what the guide said, it was home to Pokemon that loved pollution. Ash didn't want to be anywhere near a Muk or a Koffing anytime soon, thanks. Especially the Koffing.

"If that's alright, I'd rather see the desert. And the mountain!" He couldn't see those kinds of places back home!

Macavity bounced over to Carbuncle, so now they had a pair of bouncing Eev-lutions hopping around their feet. "Yeah! I wanna see Everything!!"

"I totally agree with that. We can avoid the Wasteland," Noctis said without any hesitation, not really a fan of..any of the Pokemon that could be found there anyway.

Ash's suggestions get a grin out of him, though, and he nods before looking thoughtful.

"Alright, so, desert, mountain, rocky beach...maybe wetland, too?"

Carbuncle giggled again and hopped circles around Macavity before he went to do the same around Ash.

"Everywhere! Let's go everywhere--except the wasteland! Everyone else though! Come on, come on!"

"Sure. Dya know what the difference is between a swamp and a wetland? I honestly don't." There had to be one or they're just had a double sized swamp/wetland.

But then he glanced down and couldn't help laughing a little. "So, Umbreons, Espeons and all that are related to bunny rabbits. The more you know!" Macavity copied Carbuncle and hopped around Noctis before swapping to bounce around Ash, butting his shins.
"Let's go let's go let's gooooo!"
"Alright alright, we're going! We got time you two, jesus-" He leaned down to ruffle Macavity's head, who yipped and immediately took off, running over to the tram that would take them to the various zones.

"I honestly have no clue. Maybe a swamp's just more..mucky?" Noctis offered though it probably wasn't all that helpful. This is what he gets for not paying attention in his classes.

Noctis let out a snort at the rabbit comment, hands on his hips as Carbuncle bounced his way over to rub up against his legs now.

"Apparently. Aren't you guys suppose to be all regal or something?" he teased before swooping in to scoop Carbuncle up and tickle him, earning delighted squeals from the Espeon. He let him go when Macavity took off, though, the Espeon hot on his brother's heels for the tram.

"Alright, what's our first stop?" Noctis mused as he bumped Ash, nudging him towards the tram as well. "Desert or mountain?"

"Desert. I don't think there's any deserts anywhere, but I have heard that there's a mountain out....fuck, it's past the little town we all woke up at but you need to surf towards it, so nobody can wake up and immediately go mountain climbing." He did end up hurrying a little to the tram as Macavity bounced by it, before losing patience and dashing back to try and herd them forward eagerly, still happily chirping along.

They had the tram to themselves as it through the zones with a swaying rattle. Ash couldn't help eagerly watching out the window, looking over the different landscapes they passed by on their way to the desert. "Have you ever seen places like all this?"

"Good call. There's also Mt. Mortar which I guess sort of counts. I..really don't want to see that place anytime soon though," Noctis drawled slightly, shaking his head. He had enough of that place during all that stuff with the canine-trio.

Stepping over the Eeveelution brothers so as not to trip, Noctis makes it onto the tram and settles in. Carbuncle immediately hops onto his lap and promptly puts two paws against the window, face pressed against it so he can watch everything go by.

"Sort of like this," Noctis said as he glanced out the window. "We went to a bunch of different places after we left Insomnia but it wasn't quite so..barren like this is. This is really cool looking."

Ash sat opposite Noctis, also watching the scenery fly by. It was a bit like being on a train just a bit more rickety and a lot less cramped than the public transport he was used to. Macavity took in the view...until he decided to bother Carbuncle, sneaking up behind him before preparing to pounce.

"I'd...honestly, I'd only gone out of London a few times and it wasn't like, really far. Even then deserts and mountains and all that are in other countries, not in England." He murmured, watching the landscapes fly by. "Like...even the cities here are different. Clean air, no smog everywhere or acid rain. It makes me wonder if my home could ever be like this place, or if it's all too far gone now."

"I'm sure there's a chance it could be. It would probably take work but I don't..think any place is really hopeless," Noctis said after a moment of thought, glancing out the same window Ash was looking through as Carbuncle let out a squeal and rolled to start wrestling with Macavity. "We had some places like that back home, too, and it just takes time. And people willing to make it happen. That's the hardest part if you ask me."

"Yeah, that's the thing. I like to think there's still a chance. Dad's more pessimistic though." He shrugged. "I mean, the world keeps on going. It's just a question of what kinda state it's gonna be in."

Here it seemed like you could do anything, With strong Pokemon at your side, anyone could change the world. And so could everyone else. Back home, it felt like the systems in place were made of iron and no matter what you did to fight, they wouldn't break or budge. Thankfully the desert came into view, giving Ash a welcome distraction from his thoughts. "Oh wow...I always thought deserts were just sand, not like, huge areas of rock too."

"It's always an ongoing battle but if you care enough about something and fight hard for it, you can make it happen," Noctis murmured, his thoughts drifting briefly to his father and conversations they'd had--

Which is why he's very grateful for the distraction as Ash speaks up about the desert.

"Deserts are amazing. I remember learning about them in school and there's a whole bunch of stuff that I don't really remember but they're really complex ecosystems," he mused, proud of himself for being able to recall that much.

"I always wondered how anything survives out there. I get how the sea works but I wasn't really taught cool stuff about deserts. We just got taught shit like, how volcanoes are made and how rain works. But I can't remember half of it." Geography hadn't really grabbed Ash during his education. Biology was better but it hadn't gone into really cool, exotic ecosystems either.

The tram slowly came to a stop and there was a polite 'ding' and a recorded voice over the speakers informed them that they had arrived at the Desert Zone, please remember to take your belongings with you and mind the step.

Macavity was immediately outside, jumping up onto the next rock to try and see it all. "It's so dusty! Carbuncle, look! It's all rock and sand, like the beach without water!"

"I remember some stuff but not a lot. I bet we could find some information about it all back at the center," Noctis suggested, stretching then climbing to his feet as the tram came to a stop.

Carbuncle was out the door on Macavity's heels, twin tails flicking about wildly as he started to make biscuits in the sand.

"And hot! The sand feels nice though! Better than the beach!" he twilled, hopping over to the rock that his brother was on and clambering up with him.

"Don't run off without us you two!" Noctis called out with a grin, shaking his head at the pair. "Those two are ridiculous."
