Date Night
Who: Ivy and Newt
Where: Olivine City
When: New Years Eve.
Summary: Going on a date.
Rating: Ivy's a flirt. But Newt is pure. So it balances out.
Log:
With some gentle motherly kisses to her Pokemon and warnings to behave, Pamela had head for Azalea's Warp Pad and made her way to Olivine.
Ivy was pleasantly surprised that Newt had invited her out for dinner. It was a little bold for the shy man. Though she suspects that the written note may have made the question a little easier on him.
And then her pictures made it harder on him.
Her lips curl into a smile as she walks to the restaurant. She's opted for wearing a winter dress and tights, because things are still a little cold for her tastes but nowhere near are terrible as a month or so again. And of course, she has Newt's gift of a necklace on too.
When she arrives at the place Newt had suggested, she opts to wait inside. Taking a small moment to remove her coat and release her cascade of hair from under her woolen hat.

His worries weren't completely laid to rest when she accepted but he at least stopped pacing around with a train of young Pokemon following him.
When the day finally arrived Newt did his best to make sure there were no Pokemon hiding in his pockets or anything of that sort, leaving Roxy and Queenie in charge of things as he headed into Azalea to hop the warp pad. He had dressed in his typical fashion from home, having gotten it properly washed and pressed for the occasion. (And with his Pickett pin tucked under the lapel of his jacket.) It's a short walk but it seems to take forever given how nervous he is and Newt ends up arriving a few minutes after Ivy, hesitating at the door of course as he took a few deep breaths then stepped inside.
"Pamela." He stops dead just inside the door as his gaze lands on Ivy, a surge of warmth going through him as he offers a faint, shy smile. "M-My apologies for being late. I'm afraid I may have fretted a bit too much over leaving my companions alone."
no subject
She lets out a soft musical laugh at his explanation. "That is just like you, petal."
As she releases him, she plants a small kiss to his cheek. A hand strokes along his sleeve as her lips curl in a smirk. "You are coming in, aren't you? Or do you prefer the doorway?"
no subject
"Hm? Oh!" Newt blinks then clears his throat and immediately moves from the door, pausing only to offer Pamela his arm so they can walk together. "Right, yes of course. Have you gotten a table yet?"
no subject
She flashes him a sly smile as they're greeted by the staff and led to their booked table. Ivy reluctantly legs go of Newt's arm with a gentle squeeze before sitting down across from him.
no subject
He walked her over to the table and waits for her to sit before taking his seat, murmuring a thank you to the wait staff as he's handed a menu. He opens it then pauses, glancing over at Pamela instead.
"..You look..you look absolutely beautiful tonight. Ah--I mean, you always do but--" The wizard stops himself and clears his throat, unable to help the chuckle that escapes at his own nervousness. "You look beautiful."
no subject
Ivy puts down her own menu and rests her chin upon her palm, waiting patiently with a smile on her face for Newt to get his words out, knowing how hard he was trying to speak without fumbling over himself.
Once he's done her smile grows and she reaches out with a hand to stroke along his cheek and under his chin. "Now who's being too kind?" Ivy leans forward and pecks a playful kiss to his nose before relaxing back in her chair. "But thank you. You also look handsome, as always."
no subject
While he's gotten much better at dealing with Pamela's touches, such as the way she strokes his cheek like that, the kisses..kissing in general is still something that gets him. So that peck to the nose has him ducking his head just a touch in a shy manner, resisting the urge to reach up and tug at his collar out of nervous habit.
"T-Thank you. I have my Pokemon to thank for that--I really don't have much sense of fashion, I'm afraid."
no subject
She watches his reaction with amusement and lets her hand fall to rests atop his, idly running a finger over his knuckles.
"With such a handsome face, clothes are hardly needed." Her tone is laced with playfulness and the curl of her lip sly as she tilts her head to catch his eye. "Are you trying to hide from me?"
no subject
"P-Pamela!" he protested, glancing about as if he was worried someone was listening or maybe it's just that he's having a hard time keeping eye contact with her. Stop trying to catch his eye he can't do this right now! "No, no I, that's not it. You just--I don't..I'm afraid I still have some, ah, learning. To do. With how to handle your..handle you..."
Flirting. He can't handle the flirting well.
no subject
"Do you not know how to handle me, Newt?" She pulls lightly on his hand, bringing it up and to her lips to kiss at his knuckles.
no subject
"I..suppose I don't. As much as I try I really have no idea how to respond most of the time," he admitted, letting out a weak laugh now.
no subject
"Well, I've found your responses very endearing so far."
She continues kissing along his hand, turning it over to brush her lips across his pulse, the corners of them curling upwards mischievously.
"So much so, that I'd allow you to 'handle me' any way you wish."
no subject
Just..a little more one than the other right now. He's still getting use to this after all.
no subject
"I'm very taken with you." She gives his finger a parting kiss before letting his hand fall gently back to the table, still joined with hers.
With a wink her gaze releases him and her eyes drift back to the menu on the table. "If there weren't a table between us I'd kiss those rosey cheeks of yours until they were red with my lipstick instead." She gives a little chuckle as she squeezes his now red smudged hand.
no subject
"I have no doubts you would," he said softly, blushing as he shook his head in a fond manner, chewing at his bottom lip now as he glanced down at the menu. He returns the squeeze she gives his hand and while he's still flustered he does relax, the tension in his shoulders seeping away as he figures out what he wants to eat and sits back in his seat.
"...I'm..as I'm sure you've noticed this isn't exactly my area of expertise so please excuse my rather embarrassing questions," he said after a moment of rather deep though, taking a breath afterwards. "But are we..we are a..couple..yes? A proper...as in dating..correct?"
Newt Scamander, ladies and gentleman. Mr. Suave.
no subject
"You can ask me anything you want, sweetie." She closes her menu, selection made. Her eyes flicker up to his face again and her tongue appears as she wets her red lips. "I certainly hope so. Or are you leading me on, Mr Scamander?"
Her foot suddenly hooks itself around his ankle and starts rubbing its way upwards.
no subject
He shivers as her foot hooks around his ankle and rubs upwards, his leg shifting forward slightly, just a touch, to allow her maybe just a bit more access.
no subject
As their food begins to arrive, Ivy needs her hands but her foot remain hooked around him to keep contact. At one point, she slides it out of her footwear so she can slip up through the hole of his pants and rub her bare foot against his bare calf.
They keep the conversation going, but light as they dine. Ivy knows things like small talk don't come easily to Newt, but also knows just what topics to touch on so that he begins to talk more naturally and ease. She refrains from her flirting and compliments while they eat. She doesn't need him literally choking on food because he was choking on his words.
Once the plates are removed, she resumes holding his hand, kissing at his fingers once again, the courting and praise also returning in full strength. When the waiter offers them coffee she tilts her head curiously at her dining partner.
"Shall we have tea and coffee at yours?" Her foot slides higher, almost to his knee, and hooks itself securely, as if she has no intent of letting him leave her anytime soon.
no subject
The lines of conversation she sticks to are appreciated because he prefers not to choke and embarrass himself in front of all of these people. Plus, it allows him to grow more comfortable, to relax and not jerk whenever her bare foot brushes his calf like it does. (Okay, maybe he does get a little red faced but he doesn't jerk away!)
His fingers twitch just a bit in her hold as she starts to kiss them once more, a weak laugh escaping him at her question.
"I think that might be for the best," he murmured to her, glancing at the waiter and blushing, clearing his throat and looking back to Pamela. "Ah--yes, definitely for the best."
no subject
With a parting rub, her foot finally unhooks itself so she slip her shoe back on as the waiter nods at their response and finishes off clearing their table.
"Split the check." Ivy informs the waiter before Newt can speak, sending him a sly smirk and pressing more kisses to his knuckles. "I do love visiting your little cottage."
no subject
He clears his throat and sits up, planning on covering the check but Ivy beats him to it when she tells the waiter to split it. Newt looks momentarily confused by that because what--but he--why...
Is that how things go where she's from? Interesting..
"I..it's always enjoyable having you stop by. It--it's never dull. The cottage, I mean but..having you there is always nice."
no subject
Sorry, Newt. Even if you did want to take her out to thank her, you're officially dating now. So Ivy doesn't see why you shouldn't split expenses when it comes to the two of you.
She rises from her seat once the bill is taken care of and moves to take his arm again as they go to retrieve their coats. "I'd like to visit more often." She lean up to brush her lips across his ear and whisper. "Perhaps spend the night?"
no subject
As they make their way over to where their coats had been hung up Newt almost stumbles over his own two feet at her whispered comment, glancing at her as a flush touches his cheeks and nose.
"I..I would not say no to that. You staying, that is," he murmured back, chewing on his lower lip briefly. "You are welcome anytime, for as long as you please."
no subject
Ivy looks amused as she pulls her coat and hat on, preparing for the cold air outside, before leaning in to kiss at his flushed cheeks. "That's a dangerous invitation, my petal."
She takes his coat and holds it for him to help him get it on. "If you spoil me so, I may never leave."
no subject
"You say that as if it would be a terrible thing," he murmured, glancing at her then away again all in one quick moment, adjusting his coat before pulling his gloves out of his pockets to slip them on. Once they were settled he offered an arm to his date, smiling fondly.
"Shall we?"
no subject
Ivy takes his arm without hesitation. "We shall."
She's pressed right against his side as they walk back, partly because she enjoys the closeness, partly because of how weak to the cold she is. She doesn't dislike winter as much as fall, but it does make her wish to be curled up somewhere warm to rest.
Which is why she's eager to get back to Newt's cottage with its wood burning fire and how the never blushing Ivy has pink darkening her cheeks.
Ivy keeps the talk light as they walk, though now it's just the two of them there's a lot more playful words and looks exchanged.
no subject
A Pokemon Center and a couple warp pads later find them back in Azalea Town and finally on the path back to Newt's cottage, the wizard letting out a content sigh as they start down the familiar trail towards the edge of Ilex Forest.
"It's a rather beautiful night for the start of a new year."
no subject
Once they cross the threshold of Newt's sweet little cottage, Pamela manages to get her coat off and hand it to Newt before having to bend down and greet the Pokemon who've graced her with a welcome. "Hello, my dears." She coos in the same mothering tone she uses on her own Pokemon. "It's wonderful to see you all again."
no subject
The gaggle of Pokemon that swarm them is the usual, though Newt can't help but scoff gently since it is late.
"Shouldn't you all be sleeping?" he asked over the noise and it was hard not to smile as there were quite a few squeaks and chirps of protests from the little ones swarming Ivy for attention.
no subject
She straightens, arms full of little chirping creatures, and kicks off her shoes. She can't remove her hat now though and decides to attend to that later.
Ivy turns to Newt, cheeks still pink from the cold. "Should I get started on the coffee?"
no subject
"Alright, alright. I'm clearly outnumbered," he said in mock exasperation, his expression melting into one of pure adoration as Ivy turned to him with those rosy cheeks of hers and arms full of Pokemon.
"That sounds lovely, my dear. I'll get the fire going a bit better."
no subject
She pauses just at the threshold, she was going to get herself coffee but- "Would you prefer tea for yourself, petal?"
no subject
"Actually, yes, if you wouldn't mind." Coffee need did suit him though he did drink it from time to time. "With a bit of milk and honey if you would." He smiled warmly at her before continuing on to the fireplace to stoke it, Quong Po wandering over to offer his assistance--even if he wasn't all that skilled with his fire abilities just yet.
no subject
She's in a kitchen for a while until the telltale hiss of a kettle can be heard, softly after she returns, carefully caring two hot mugs, once a much darker colour than the other.
Pamela settles onto the sofa (taking care not to sit on any Pokemon that may be resting there) and offers Newt the lighter coloured drink. "I hope it's alright."
no subject
"I have no doubts it's perfect," he murmured, lifting his arms momentarily as Quong Po climbed up to settle on his lap, the Salandit draping himself across Newt and partially on Ivy's shoulder with a content little sigh. "My apologies for the little ones. I had honestly expected them to be asleep by now."
He's not really sorry though. He loves his children.
no subject
She smiles up at him and starts tracing lazy patterns across his leg and knee. "Though I will feel bad when I have to get up and move them."
no subject
"We'll just have to be careful," he murmured, enjoying the light touches on his leg and shifting on the arm of the couch so he could recline just a bit. "Most of them are very hard to wake once they fall asleep so I doubt we have much to worry about."
no subject
When midnight finally hits, she tilts her head back to look at the wizard properly, a smile on her face. "Happy New Year."
She shifts so she can face him a little better (mindful of the little ones). "Are new year kisses a tradition in England or am I being to forward?" She chuckles.
no subject
The clock hits midnight and Newt glances down at her, returning her smile with a gentle one of his own.
"Happy New Year, Pamela," he murmured, and he reached out with his free hand, the arm he wasn't leaning on, to gently touch her cheek. "No, not forward at all." It wasn't a tradition he ever partook in before but times were changing weren't they?
no subject
Which she then deepens significantly before releasing him and licking her own lips, a pleased look on her face.
"Does the arrival of the New Year mean I should take my leave?" Ivy speaks with a playful lilt to her voice.
no subject
By the time he's finally released Newt is just a bit out of breath and most definitely red in the face, that kiss very typical of Pamela but it's still something Newt is trying to get use to.
"Take your leave?" he repeated a bit dumbly before realizing what she was asking, licking his lips in a nervous manner only to shake his head the slightest bit. "Hardly...why would it?"
no subject
She carefully slides the dozing Salandit from her shoulder and onto a cushion so she can turn herself to a position easier to touch and kiss at him. "Does this mean I'm invited to stay the night?"
Her hand settles itself on his thigh again and runs its way upwards, squeezing. "Should I get settled here on the sofa?" Her lips brush the shell of his ear as she whispers into it. "Or would you like to show me to your room?"
no subject
He glances momentarily at the Salandit, parental instincts kicking in as he makes sure the little one settles down alright after being moved but really there's nothing to worry about and Pamela is quick to distract him as it is. His eyes fluttered shut and he sucks in a quick breath as her lips brush his ear, the wizard giving the slightest shakes of his head.
"I..yes. To the second," he murmured, managing to crack his eyes open and glance at her. "I would never make you sleep out here." He's already moving as he says it, sliding off the couch arm and drawing her with him so he can lead her towards his room.
no subject
Ivy continues to press against him and touch her lips to his neck and ear as they walk to his room.
Once there her hands catch his to link and toy with his fingers and she fixes her eyes on him. "I didn't bring any sleepwear." She's walking backwards, pulling him with her until the back of her legs hit the bed and she sits herself down, looking up at him with a playful smile. "I may need to borrow a shirt."
'May' being the operative word.
no subject
"I..I have one you can borrow," he said softly, hesitantly because while he did care for her and was quite fond of her...maybe for now they would take it slow. Build up to what he figured she inevitable had in mind for him.
He still managed to lean down and press his lips to hers in a gently kiss, a hand going to her cheek to cup it gently before he broke away to sink down beside her and resume the kisses.
The shirt could wait a bit longer though.
