It was a bit of a spur of the moment idea but Noctis had been itching to pay the Safari Zone another visit and he also knew that he needed to really try and patch things up between him and Prompto. The blonde was his best friend from home and relationship weirdness aside that hadn't changed. So he'd invited Prompto to come with him and the pair had gotten themselves ready to go, picked out the Pokemon that would be accompanying them and set out bright and early--meaning around 10am or so--the next day to hop the first ferry they could get out of Olivine City!

Considering what his goal was for the Blackthorn City gym, Noct had decided to bring some of the Squad with him, mainly those that still needed some serious leveling before they took on the gym. So once the ferry got going and they were heading out over the water he tossed two pokeballs over the side of the ship and in a flash of light two Gyarados appeared. Cast and Stirfry hit the water and immediately shook themselves out, the pair letting out twin roars of approval before diving underneath the surface to follow alongside the ferry. Noctis grinned and leaned against the railing as Carbuncle perched on his shoulders, the Espeon practically purring in excitement as he made happy paws against his trainer's right shoulder.

"Gonna see all the weird places again!" he cried happily, tails flicking again. "I wish Ash and brother were here though.."

"Next time, buddy. I promise. This time we get to show Prompto and Pryna everything cool."

"Yes! Get to take them on the sky box!" Noctis laughed and reached up to pet him, pushing away from the railing and turning around, looking for the individuals in question.

"Guess we should make sure they aren't getting sea sick, huh?"

Prompto continues snapping pictures of Noct, now with both Carbuncle and Pryna on his shoulders, listening to his friend's advice and taking it all into consideration. The roar of the two Gyarados catch his attention and he immediately moves to take several dozen photos of the two Pokemon having fun in the water. He offers Noct a sheepish grin, apologizing without words for turning his attention away from the dark haired man.

"This is amazing! I've never been on the water before - it's beautiful! I don't think so, wanna go try to spot some?" Pryna playfully flicks her tail at the Espeon and maneuvers her little body across Noct's shoulders to try and surprise Carbuncle with a blindside attack.

At this point, Prompto is clicking away while trying not to laugh too loudly as he tries to hear Noct over the chirping and trilling of the two Pokemon currently using his best friend as a jungle-gym.

"It sounds like this is gonna be tons of fun! Can we go to all of the zones? Or are we only going to one? How much is it to go to all of them? What sort of Pokemon will we see? I hope I brought enough Pokeballs ... and memory cards." He scratches the back of his neck nervously when he realizes that he's rambling and taking an obnoxious amount of pictures.

"Seriously, Noct ... this whole trip is already the best thing ever and we haven't even gotten there yet. So, uh, thanks. For inviting me an' everything..." Prompto wants so badly to give Noct a hug, but if he does it'll mean disturbing the hilarious game of Espeon and Eevee currently taking place, so he settles for a lopsided smile.

"Hey, d'ya think there's a place on the ferry I can pop Pancake in so she can swim around a bit too? I think it'll be too much for her weaker fin to swim along the ferry with your Gyarados, but she could probably get a little stronger just swimming around in a pool or somethin'... right?" His other Pokemon companions, minus Pryna, are tucked in their Pokeballs but will all be travelling on foot with them once they make it to the Safari zone. But seeing Cast and Stirfry playing about in the water makes him want to do something for his beautiful Stunfisk.

The question about a pool on the ferry might be stupid, but the only other boat he'd ever been on was the one they took to Altissia - and that one was much smaller than this ferry.

There's no need for apologies, Prompto. Seriously. He doesn't blame you one bit. Noctis grins to express as much, head tilting in a fond manner.

"Yeah let's!" Carbuncle said happily before dissolving into giggles as he's 'attacked', twilling as he hops down off Noct's shoulders to bolt across the deck of the ship. Now it's a game of tag! You're it, Pryna!

The prince just laughs as he's finally Pokemon free, moving closer to Prompto to catch the other around the shoulders.

"Deep breaths, Prom. So we can pick six zones we want to go to in one day and don't worry about cost--this is on me. They provide us with Pokeballs to use when we get there, all we have to do is go explore the areas we pick and catch the Pokemon we want!" he explained, feeling a lot lighter, a lot more at ease now that they were out on the water and away from the city. His mind had been a bit overloaded as of late so he'd needed to get out and about so this was a welcome change of pace. Plus it meant he got to spend some quality time with Prompto!

"Thank you for coming along," Noctis shot back, giving his friend a sincere smile. "It means a lot to get to spend time with you." Especially since things had been so awkward for the first couple months Prompto had been there after the other him had disappeared.

A thoughtful look crosses his face as he momentarily glances over to watch his Gyarados rough house a bit.

"There should be some sort of small pool on the lower level. There usually is for the smaller water types. We could totally go take a look."

"!!" Pryna squeals when Carbuncle darts away and immediately gives chase, firmly intending to pounce on the cheeky Espeon. "I'm gonna catch you!"

Prompto immediately leans into Noct's casual embrace, still desperate for that human contact, especially from his best friend. His grin widens as Noct explains how it all works with the Pokeballs and the zones and it just sounds so perfect and fun. There's a theatrical sigh, coupled with an eye-roll, when Noct mentions that he'll pay for them to visit the zones.

"Dude, you got me and Iggy places to live. Can we at least split this one or something?" He chuckles a little as he continues. "People are gonna think I'm a gold-digger, n' I had enough of that during high school."

It's said lightly, both of them knowing how far from true it was back then (and as it is now) and both of them having taken the ridiculous accusation in stride (after Prompto's initial panic that such a rumor would land him in jail). His eyes sparkle in the sun as his cheeks tinge pink at the sight of Noct's genuine smile. Astrals he missed that smile.

"It means a lot to me too, bein' here with you." Feeling a little giddy and a bit silly (must be the sun and the joy of being with Noctis again), he waits until Noct finishes being thoughtful and helpful regarding a pool for Pancake before tilting his face close to Noct's and stealthily bringing up a finger to lightly tap his friend's nose.

"Boop." Prompto beams as he giggles and moves back, looking every bit a sunshine boy. He reaches out and clasps one of Noct's hands, using the other to sweep his bangs out of his eyes.

"Lead the way, oh great Noct Gar, King of the Karp! I'm sure Pryna and Carbuncle will be okay, right?"
