39th Recipe [Text, Goldenrod City]

[This post starts with a series of photos.

The first five are selfies of Jane, but with different companions each time - the Elite Four. Will casually puts an arm around her shoulder in the first, Koga stands straight-backed and serious in the second, Bruno seems shy in the third, Karen is chuckling with amusement in the fourth. Lance even deigns to take the selfie for the fifth, angling it a little better so you can see the battlefield behind them. In each one, Jane is smiling, but there's a clear nervousness to her expression, exhaustion settling in.

The sixth is a shaky, blurry picture of Dinah the Audino, Mega Evolved, socking Lance's Dragonite in the face with an Ice Punch.

And the seventh? Jane stands behind Dinah while giving her a hug. Dinah's holding an egg close. The rest of Jane's team for her challenge is around her - August the shiny Delphox is grinning from ear to ear, Poirot the Kricketune stands on Dinah's right with his werid little violin-bow arms crossed, Madeline the Primarina has taken up the back area to lay her tail around the group and peeks out with sparkling eyes, Bettina the Crobat has her wings flared out and her tongue sticking out as she toddles on the ground, and Dart the Bisharp stands to Dinah's left, holding what is clearly a League Certificate.

They all look worn out, but triumphant.]

Been recovering from...everything, honestly, but I can finally say I'm back in Goldenrod after...I guess you could call it Badgequest 2020!
And we've done it - we actually beat the Elite Four!!
Gracious, it got dicey quite a few times, I'll admit to that, but...I'm still in shock, I can't believe it!
We're going to take the rest of the month off to enjoy the holidays, and then come January, I'm going to get to work on something new, but...
WE DID IT!!!!
I am so proud of them! There aren't enough words to convey just how proud I am of each of my Pokemon...this victory is only thanks to their hard work. I was just lucky enough to get to train them. ♥

[As the Gear turns on, there's a loud rustling and scratching of claws against the ground. Not a whole lot of light, it's late after all, just the ambient light from the screen of the Gear itself. Just enough to cast a little light on Estinien's face, eyes open and lying on his back staring at the ceiling of his tent in tired resignation.

The scratching and shuffling comes rapidly closer to the camera, and a large shadow passes over--for those with quick eyes, it's the belly of a Perrserker, which is bouncing around the tent like a godsdamned maniac.

It's 3 AM. Cat's got the zoomies.

This has happened every night for the past two weeks.

Estinien grunts as the manic metal cat uses his stomach as a springboard to launch itself out of the tent, there's a yelp outside and for a split second the inside of the tent takes a reddish-orange cast as his Ninetales breathes fire at said crazy cat just outside. The crashing noises get distant for a little bit, but just as Estinien is sitting up to get his Gear and turn it off, he's knocked back flat on his back by the Return of the Cat, satisfied with its early, early morning chaos, and settling directly on his chest while making the most horrid noise.

Estinien just sighs as deeply as one possibly can with a 60 pound cat weighing you down.]

Truly, are you going to do this every night?

[He frowns and turns off the Gear. Goodnight everybody!]
